[Elijah is fond of libraries. Not necessarily for the books, although he appreciates the knowledge they have to offer, but for the peaceful atmosphere, the calm, the solitude. It's a place to be alone and yet surrounded by memories, preserved on the pages.

He takes a thick leather-bound book from one of the shelves, and wanders over to find a window seat from which he might read or gaze at the landscape out of the window.]

[Rebekah likes books, not so much for the knowledge (though she enjoys that as well, loves to learn about other cultures and lifestyles) as for the stories they held. A life on the run leaves a lot to be desired but through stories she can at least pretend to have the sort of life she really wants.

It is for that reason that she's in the library herself today, looking for something new to read. She looks up from the shelves when her brother walks by, smiling warmly at him.]

[The smile he gives her is a fond one. Elijah always has time for his baby sister. He stops mid-stride and approaches her.]

Are you looking for something in particular?

Something new, I should think. [Something exciting, something to get herself lost in, she thinks. ]

[Tucking his book under his arm, he moves on to find a seat.]

What are you reading today? [She asks curiously, trailing after him.]

And here I thought Niklaus and Kol were the ones who had an interest in witches. [Teasing, of course.]

They're not alone. Witch hunting is becoming ever more popular.

I have noticed that. They gather more women to burn every day, it seems.

A few of them are even witches.

[He tilts his head slightly. Waiting for his book back.]

A few, not most. [she hands the book back to him.]

Well, these witch hunters are not very good at identifying real witches.

[He takes the book back, resting it on his knee.]

So I have noticed. Perhaps because it does not matter to them whether they catch real witches or not.

As long as there is someone to blame, it doesn't matter if they are blameworthy. Something like that.

Better witch hunters than more vampire hunters, I suppose.

[negotiates]

[He pauses, exhaling. Yes, they've had bad experiences with vampire hunters in the past. And all Rebekah wanted was some light reading.]

I fear my chosen subject matter is not so entertaining.

[Light reading can be hard to find, apparently.]

No, I suppose it is not.

[negotiates]

[Especially in this day and age.]

But we will continue to need witches, so it is important to know of the perils they face.

I suppose so. Being sympathetic to them probably makes them more likely to help us.

[negotiates]

[He nods.]
