your character is walking through a strange garden for some reason - don't the flowers smell lovely? or maybe they don't. strangely enough, whether you mean for them to or not, these flowers and plants seem to have something strange about them...something that's affecting you.

leave a comment with your character's name and canon, as well as any preferences you may or may not have.
repliers roll the RNG from 1-20, or pick a number below to decide how your character has been affected by the flowers! whether they are still at the garden, or whether the effects of the flowers have lasted on them throughout their day are up to you.

[ For most of the student body, the fact that there was a brand new garden on school grounds when they returned from their spring break was a pleasant surprise. For one particular student, it was definitely suspicious. For something like this to spring up so abruptly was strange, and he hadn't heard any word of it prior to its sudden appearance.

Too suspicious not to investigate.

So while some students are taking a pleasant stroll or relaxing in the shade of one of the many new trees, Sousuke is on his hands and knees in the middle of a patch of ice plants, searching for... well, anything. A land mine, a hidden camera, some sort of radar device, anything that shouldn't be there.

For the most part, everyone knows well enough to steer clear when he gets like this. ]

[The garden is beautiful, and the atmosphere here is soothing. For once, she feels at peace as she makes her way through the rows of blossoms, even if her thoughts do occasionally drift in less pleasant directions. (She had always wished she could keep a garden while she was married to Kirei, but she was to weak to do it. And—afterward, there had been no time.) Her steps slow and careful, she lingers in front of flowers, fingers skimming their petals as she leans forward to take in their smells.]

[She has knelt down to do exactly that when she discovers a single, solitary weed—a dandelion.]

[Gently, her fingers brush against the yellow flower. Even if it hasn't reached the seeding stage, dandelions are so associated with wishes that her thoughts immediately make that connection. It's funny, thinking about wishes now. They mean something so different to her than they used to, no longer anything playful and harmless.]

[But— Somehow, finding this little plant makes her feel happy and hopeful. She wants to think positively, rather than stay mired in her doubts and her grief. Why not accept encouragement from a cheerful, sunny flower like this? On a whim, she plucks it and stands.]

[ Zack had been kneeling ( carefully ) at the edge of the patch of flowers in Aerith's church, admiring them while he waited for her to return from... wherever it was she had gone. She said she would be right back though, and he waited like a good dog boy for her to return, occupying himself with smelling the flowers and sort of ... poking at them once in a while.

As he stood back up, the strangest urge hit him. And when the doors to the church opened again to signal the flower girl's return, he turned toward her, ]

The summer was a particularly warm one in the year of '75. Even in late August, the mornings were crisp and mild, the afternoons sultry and sticky. Even Cokeworth, usually bleak and dreary with drizzling rain day in and out, was hit by an unusual heatwave of sunny days where clouds were scarce.

Four days before they were due to catch the train to back to Hogwarts to embark on their Fifth Year, Severus quietly closed the front door of his house, shutting out sound of his father yelling at his mother in the kitchen. It was barely one o'clock in the afternoon and his father was already drunk; Severus didn't want to spend the last days of his holiday listening to his father's intoxicated diatribes before eventually passing out in the drawing room.

The sun was high in the cloudless sky as Severus walked up Spinner's End. He ducked his head and shoved his hands in the pockets of his ratty brown corduroy slacks, which were badly frayed at the hems, as he passed children playing in the street - a few were kicking a football around and a few others were squirting each other with water pistols while shrieking in delight. He stopped short in his tracks when one of the kids ran right past him, firing the water pistol at her friends. Several blasts of cold water sprayed across Severus' tattered green t-shirt, much to his annoyance, and he scowled at her before continuing quickly up the cobblestone path.

When he reached the end of the street, he turned left and headed straight for Lily's house. He hoped she was home. He desperately wanted to spend as much time with her as he could while the holidays lasted. Things had become strained between them for reasons he wasn't entirely sure of in the Fourth Year - but summer had finally rolled around and he and Lily had caught the train home together, and it soon was like old times again.

Upon reaching her house, he knocked on the door and pushed a strand of hair back from his face before wiping the back of his hand across his forehead, smudging away sweat. It truly was a warm afternoon. The lock turned and Severus looked up, hoping Lily was the one answering the door. His face fell when he saw that it was Petunia.

"Oh. It's you," Petunia greeted distastefully. ""What do you want?"

Severus couldn't help glowering at her. He didn't like Petunia any more than she liked him. "Is Lily home?"

"Maybe." She studied him for a moment, eyeing his shabby clothes as though she was looking at a dirty stray animal. "Why are you always wanting to hang around my sister? She's not a riff-raff."

"Is Lily home?" he repeated coolly. Then added with forced sincerity, "Please."

After scrutinising him for another moment, Petunia scoffed dismissively and turned her head to shout up the stairs, "Lily! That boy's here again!"
