[It starts out with small gestures of affection, of him kissing their fingers, or stopping by a shop to pick up their favorite treat or something that reminded him of them. It starts with tentative closeness that he's ever mindful to either indulge or stop, a friendly hand upon a shoulder, or gently ruffling their hair.

[Occasionally, he gently touches his nose to theirs. If they exchange Commands for his/their mutual benefit, the words he employs seem to be laden with added warmth. To say nothing of the warmth that comes from his words as a whole.

[But the most key thing that something's different? He starts to smile more often, does it when he sees them. Even starts to inscribe smiley faces in his written/typed/texted messages.

[He's doing it now as he watches them through the mask he wears. When he speaks, the low, growly nature of his voice spills out hesitantly, but warmly and sincerely.]
