[ Pop quiz: you have just been turned away from yet another meeting detailing upcoming creations, but were in earshot of one of the other angels mentioning another human for Adam. Do you;
Well, if your name happens to be Lucifer, then the correct answer is C, or at least that’s what he tells himself as he hides behind a bush and weighs his options. If he gets caught he will be in trouble, they definitely won’t let him help out then. But all he wants to do is see the new human, he won’t meddle, not one bit! He can sneak in, see them, and fly away before anyone notices he is missing. ]
Would they even notice? Probably not. [ He makes a face, draws his hands up and smacks his cheeks to snap himself out of this stupor. ] .. no, no! That won’t do, I have to have a better attitude than that. Fly in, see the human, and fly out again. I can do this? Wait, that sounds like I’m already doubting myself.
[ Angels can’t doubt, and he certainly doesn’t doubt God. In fact, he never could! So he feels a little bad about sneaking around like this. He trusts their judgment, he really does, but his inability to forget about something once he sets his mind on it will be his downfall one day.
But today isn’t going to be that day! No, siree! So, once the others have disappeared, he makes his way back to a place that he’s already visited many times over — Eden. Adam is fun to talk to and has interesting ideas but, somehow, they just don’t seem to see eye to eye when it comes to the idea of hunting animals. All he can think about are the ducks he takes care of at the pond, and the idea of them being hunted hurts his heart.
He is about to make a pit stop at the water’s edge when he hears a voice he doesn’t recognize. It reminds him of a whistling wind, the way it cuts through the air, but the closer he gets? The more he feels an ache in his heart. Someone is singing what is usually a beautiful hymn, but they sound so very sad. There’s a brief moment in time where he pauses next to a tree, leaning against it as he listens to the next verse and tries to figure out whether he should approach.
Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately), the sadness in the voice calls to him like a moth to a flame, he couldn’t ignore it if he tried. Maybe if he can’t help create things, he can help create some joy in this human somehow. Upon reaching a clearing, he swats some leaves out of the way and squints, expecting to see another Adam. What he doesn’t expect to see is her.
Tall, like Adam, but with softer features and longer hair, her lips still mouthing the words, even though they eventually trail off. Why? Because she is crying. Oh, golly, he isn’t even supposed to be here right now! And here he is wondering what he can do to cheer her up, when the answer waddles right up to him, letting out a noisy quack. Careful to remain hidden, he shoos the duckling in the direction of Lilith so it will emerge from the brush and waits, looking like a kid in a candy store. This is sure to work! They always cheer him up when he is upset.
Dutifully, the duckling waddles right up to Lilith.. and promptly slips past her to take a dip in the water. That wasn’t helpful at all! Briefly, he covers his face with a hand, somehow managing not to voice his disappointment. Wait. Wait, wait, wait! He doesn’t need a duck, he can be the duck! That way, he can be more in tune to her emotions and react accordingly.
He is so clever, he doesn’t understand why they don’t ask him for help sometimes. At the end of this? Maaaybe he’ll have a better understanding of their thought processes. One very cute duck, coming up!
After retreating back further so she doesn’t hear the poof from his magic, he waddles out of his hiding spot and over to her, his little tail wagging excitedly as he quacks to get her attention.
He wasn’t expecting to see eyes the color of the sky, eyes that shine like stars. So whatever script he was going off of, there was never a script — he was winging it (ha!), gets thrown out the window as he stares up at her. Just a very enamored duck here to save the day, definitely not something nefarious! Boy, did he mess up this time. If she smiles though, it will all be worth it!
Please don’t cry. ]
A.) Ignore it, you aren’t supposed to meddle.
B.) Eavesdrop a little more, it isn’t hurting anyone.
C.) Investigate yourself.

Well, I was hoping for one. They gave me Adam and meh...
It’s your lucky day, I am both wifeless and infinitely cooler than Adam
So....are you saying you're in the market for a wife? ;)
[ okay so he was all fired up the night before and even made her lunch, right, because he knows aira and he might as well go all in if he's going to do this. he put a lot of effort into it! which isn't surprising, given who he is, but now that he's actually here, he finds himself freezing up a little.
it just feels like a lot, all of a sudden. and it's not as if he's afraid of telling her—a part of him expects she'll let him down, but he's seen the way she looks at him sometimes and how what she says doesn't always translate to what she does, so maybe he's not completely delusional. then again, aira has a way of throwing him off completely, so who even knows at this point.
but he said he was going to, and he's a man of his word, so— ]
Airaaaaa! [ he drapes his arm over her shoulders and pulls her close. ] Did you miss me? 'Cause I missed you!
[ he'll work up to it just give him a second. ]
