A. Warm Fuzzies - Fond memories of happy times. May or may not be bittersweet.
B. How Shameful - Embarrassing memories. Whoops! Hope no one ever finds out about this one...
C. Are We The Bad Guys? - Highly incriminating memories. Everyone makes mistakes, but yours might just be unforgivable.
D. Don't Cry - Tragic memories. Remember that really painful thing that happened and completely changed the course of your life? How could you forget?
E. How Dare You - Infuriating memories. Just thinking about it is going to make you mad again!
F. 2spooky - Jumpscares: The Memory. At least now you know why your friend is so scared of clowns.
G. Send Lewds - NSFW memories. But will it inspire a recreation, or just earn you a slap in the face?
H. Wildcard - Any memories not covered above, or a combination of a few!
ᴄʜᴏᴏsᴇ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴍᴇᴛʜᴏᴅ
1. Magic Mirror - Standing in front of the magic mirror, scenes of your past begin to play out right before your eyes! Do you try shattering it to make them stop? How are you going to explain what's being shown to the person next to you?
2. Sweet Dreams - It seems you've fallen into someone else's dream tonight, while they're taking a stroll down memory lane. Will you intervene to alter "history"? Or just watch as things play out?
3. A Picture's Worth - You've stumbled across a photo album containing photos of their past. Are they embarrassing childhood photos, or maybe something more? Or perhaps they're photos neither of you even knew existed.
4. Someone Else's Shoes - Not only are you seeing someone's past, you're living it! Have you taken the place of a bystander or acquaintance in a distant memory, or are you simply seeing through their eyes? Either way, time marches on, and you'll just have to watch as things play out.
5. Mutual Awareness - Be it through a magic spell or some other means, both of you have suddenly become aware of some secret from the other person's past. What will you do with this information?
6. Dear Diary - You found someone else's diary and just couldn't resist taking a look. But will you regret what you've found? Or maybe someone found yours, and now they know all your secrets.
7. Somebody Once Told Me - You've heard about someone's past through the grapevine, and now it's time to confront them over it! Or maybe you know someone else has been filled in, and you want to clear the air first.
8. Flashback Attack - Something happened that reminded you of your past, and for whatever reason, you feel compelled to share. Is it something serious? Or did that cloud just remind you of the time you fell on your ass at Disneyland?
9. Truth Serum - The literal kind, or just some social lubricant in the form of alcohol. Either way, you've taken something that's making you feel the need to open up about yourself, and maybe share something no one else knows about.
10. Wildcard - Have some other idea in mind, or want to combine any of the above? Pick this option!

Oh, no worries about that! I figured it was a good place to wrap it up but if you wanna pick it again I'm game. Zero pressure!]

It's not something Kate could have anticipated.
Sure, she considered Rocket a friend by the time she stepped in his ship. A sometimes annoying, sometimes a little jerky, friend that she knew would always have her back. Having no place to go back to after her apartment was set on fire had open the chance to explore the galaxy and she wasn't about to pass that chance.
Ending up in his cabin was another chance she didn't waste. Sure, it had started as something unexpected, what she figured was a one time thing in the heat of the moment. But she had noticed him looking. Or she had caught herself admiring him from afar while she petted her dog and Lucky listened to Cosmo's neverending stories. Kate sneaked glances as Rocket worked, fixating on his flexed arms or remembering how his lips felt on her throat.
Unexpected as it had been, she found herself sneaking late at night to check on what he was 'working on'. Or texting him with random questions before innuendo made its natural way into conversation.
A heavy sleeper, tonight Kate barely moved as Rocket held her in his arms. It was a tight fit, but perfect for her as she slept with her head on his shoulder and a leg tucked over his lap. Wearing borrowed clothes or completely naked, his bunk seemed to always lead to the best sleep she's had in months.

But this thing with Kate...it's been easy. It's been comfortable, which he never would have expected, and honestly for the most part it's not really so different from before, give or take some clothing. They hang out, they give each other shit, and every so often there's orgasms. Overall it's pretty great. And it's persisted even now they've made it back to Knowhere, which he wasn't sure if he should assume would happen; it hadn't seemed out of the realm of possibility that she'd just been bored, stuck on the ship on the long journey. But here they are, and there's something weirdly more real about having her here in his quarters, in the home he's carved out for himself, while the chaotic bustle of the station carries on outside the window.
Knowhere might not have its own natural day-night cycle like a planet would, but it does observe one of sorts, mostly so the inhabitants don't go nuts. At this time of the standard day the lights are dimmed; plenty of stores are still open, locals from nocturnal species going about their lives outside, but it's undeniably quieter than during the "day". In his quarters, the window opacity is dimmed, filtering out most of the remaining light; the noise from outside is muffled. It's almost peaceful.
The quiet is broken abruptly by the sound of a sharp, shuddering gasp as, caught in a dream, he flinches away from something unseen. Finding his movement restricted by the weight on his arm seems to make it worse; his breathing picks up, turning to something rapid and almost panicked as he jerks more forcefully away from the restraint with a noise that sounds almost like pain.

Maybe because even though she was raised in luxury, her father never stopped taking her out to literally touch grass and climb some trees. Or because her mother came from a much lower income and the friendships she grew with were still intact. Kate's own apartment? It was a refurnished old coffee house her dad had bought and she didn't dare to sell off, turning it into a studio apartment for herself and keeping some of the gritty industrail furniture around. She won't sell it once she goes back home, not even after the fire.
Oddly enough, Knowhere feels a little like home. And Rocket's own place does remind her of that full of clutter place she lived at, messy but comfortable and familiar. Besides, it has enough perks like those shades on the window and a bed that's far more comfortable then it looks like.
Or strong arms to hold you and think less of home. Kisses on the forehead. A warm hand that slips under the back of her t-shirt to trace patterns with his fingers on her lowerback. Yes, she's getting used to this.
The strong arms she almost always appreciates, but tonight is not one of those times. At first, she wakes up startled and later she'll wonder if it was the sounds he was making or the fact that at first he squeezed, before shoving.
"Rocket?"
There's a slap and pushig at her leg and forearm, squirming under her weight before she props herself up on her elbow, reaching for his chest to shake him awake.
"Rocket, wake up!"

His back hits the wall and he freezes.
His face is pale as ash in the dim light filtering in through the screened window, his breath coming in rapid wounded-animal gasps as his eyes dart around, frantically trying to work out where the fuck he is and what's happening. Everything around him seems alien in the darkness, a haze of panic distorting the familiar shapes of home into something unfamiliar and threatening; his brain is too caught up in the world of the nightmare he'd been so abruptly yanked out of for memory to reassert itself. He presses himself closer against the reassurance of something solid at his back and tries to remember how to breathe.

At least when he corners himself against the wall he seems to finally wake up, stilling himself as he takes in his surroundings.
"Rocket? Rocket, are you okay?"
Finally, she dares to reach out, putting a hand on his hip. "You were having a nightmare. You're fine now."
