INCEPTION AU MEME

Ever wanted to throw your character into the wonderful world of dream share? Want to do a crossover with your spy or detective or wizard? Now's your chance!

1. Post your character, list any preferences (or no-nos) you may have!
2. Set up a scenario, if you'd like! Is your character an extractor, architect, point man, etc? What job are they on?
3. Tag around - do weird AU crossover things, whatever your heart desires.
4. Dream a little bigger, darling~ (and be excellent to each other)

Warning: Some threads may involve violence, psychological manipulation, or sex.

Roles:

Extractor: They lead the operation, organizing the team and acting as the main creative force behind the operation.
Point (Wo)man: They do most of the nitty gritty work - researching marks, planning the logistics of the heist, making sure the risk is minimized.
Architect: They design the actual dream levels.
Forger: Psychologically adept, forgers can impersonate real people the mark knows, or invent characters to distract and/or manipulate a mark.
Chemist: They formulate the drug compounds (called somnacin) necessary for the dreamers to enter a shared dream state.
Projection: A figment of a person’s subconscious, usually manifesting as a person - either a random stranger or possibly someone you know! Or maybe even a shade.
Mark: The target of the extraction!

Scenarios:

1. Extraction: you've been hired to extract information of some kind from someone! Who hired you? Who is your mark? How is everything about to go wrong?
2. Woops it's the police! You're a law enforcement agent tracking down dream thieves. How are you doing this? Are you going undercover? Fighting fire with fire?
3. Dream therapy: Going into someone's subconscious can have uses other than just stealing, you know! Maybe you're a therapist, or a patient, looking for a little healing?
4. Dream training: You're a soldier or a cop, and dream sharing is the latest and greatest technology to help in training. OR maybe you're training your subconscious to resist invasion?
5. Inception: you've been asked to do the impossible! Who's your mark? What's the idea? Who's on the team? This can't possibly go wrong!
6. Trapped in limbo: You and/or the person you're dreaming with have lost themselves in limbo! What are you doing? Will you ever wake up?
7. Obligatory "have you ever had sex in a dream" prompt.
8. Wild Card: have fun, go wild, create your own!

[Arthur has become the coffee guy. He can't really wake up and get to work without a dose of caffeine, and he lives on the stuff for late night research sessions. So after all while his coffee runs came to include everyone else - he knows exactly how they all take their coffee, and doesn't even have to be asked anymore.

He just quietly enters the room, setting plastic cups down next to elbows. He pauses at Mal's work space, however, to glance at whatever it is she's working on.]

[ ariadne knows that working with a new team, isn't exactly going to be easy. And frankly, she didn't expect it to be. But now with their marks sudden need to take an unplanned vacation, causing the team to create a new layout, things were a bit more strained in the team dynamics then she would have planned. And sadly, Ariadne had now found herself staying put in her little part of the warehouse while the chemist and extractor argued off in the distance. ]

Hey, would you mind taking a look at this for me? [ she finally called off towards Holiday, letting her tone turn some hopeful at the possible breakthrough with the new level as she continued to piece together another section of the new level she was to be in. ]

[ they stand barefoot at the treeline of the forest, feet soaking in dewy grass. the contact would bother hannibal, were it his dream. will stands a shoulder apart, and hannibal knows his thoughts as if the were his own. he knows as well as will that the stag waits for them, deep in the forest. the path inwards is little more than broken branches and trampled ground; a desire line, architects might call it. hannibal has walked desire lines through the map of will's mind, footprints sinking deeper with each reinforcement.

it's impossible to tell how long they've been standing on the edge where field becomes thicket. it might have been hours, or minutes. hannibal might have manifested just recently, as fresh as the fog. he feels ancient, unquestionable -- but his edges bleed into the night, unfocused. perhaps he is a construct.

perhaps it suits him to let william think of him as such. ]

[Moscow is - well cold, and not quite as pretty and romantic as Ariadne had been hoping, in her heart of hearts. Not that she'd admit that to anyone, especially Arthur, who doesn't really seem the sort of person to get romantic notions of any kind.

Of course, that practicality is part of why she likes him - he's no-nonsense, straightforward, and is always, as far as she can tell, honest with her, which she appreciates.

Still, though, the city just feels kind of gray and chilly, and that's been a slight disappointment. Which may be why she's designing a rather fanciful castle for their mark, who is a military man, but she thinks old-school enough to appreciate a few baroque touches here and there.]

So, what do you think?

They'd constructed for him a lovely little palace of pleasure, with dicing games, alcohol, and all the pretty distractions one could ever ask for. He was forging a beautiful young woman who was presently working her way over to where the mark was sitting. Dark hair, bodice cut down to there, and a sweet looking face. It was one of his more interesting forges.]
