Let's have a Movie Night!!

Photobucket

There’s nothing like watching a movie, is there? It’s a chance to relax and have fun for a few hours. Whether it’s a romantic date with dinner and a movie or an outdoor film festival, it doesn’t matter.

That’s up to you.

So pick your genre, pick your location, and pick your season. Above all else?

Chillax.

The Deets:

- Post with a character.

- Like ‘The Support Group Meme’ and ‘The Adventure Meme’, post your preferences. Want a romantic date in the middle of winter? Is the Cannes Film Festival more your style? Or, do you just want a lazy afternoon in the living room with a Bond marathon going? It’s your choice.

- If you want something steamy or gory, note that too. We don’t want someone wanting a romantic tryst stumbling upon a zombie apocalypse!

- Join other film venues.

- Have fun.

[Movies in the park a-go go. It seems what is currently playing on the make-shift theater screen is Billy the Kid Vrs Dracula. Mr. L has figured for lack of anything better to do, is to watch it. And by watch it, he means make fun of it. Join him? Y/N?]

Zombie night!!!

[personal profile] gutter 2013-07-23 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Nothing like some shambling undead to liven up an evening.

Do you like heckling at the protagonists in horror movies? Because Kiden does.]

Dude, he literally just said they can climb! Kick the ladder down!

[Insert emphatic gesticulating!]
foolishwren: I'M CALLING THE POLICE! (HENRY! Is that a WEED?!)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2013-07-23 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Heather's already gotten whapped in the face once or twice, but it's okay, it's part of watching zombie flicks. She just elbows Kiden to the side, voicing her own constructive criticism for the dumbfuck on the screen.]

Knock it down!

KNOCK IT DOWN!

DO IT, YOU PIECE A'SHIT!

Do-- awww hell, there they go.
gutter: (⟢ explain)

[personal profile] gutter 2013-07-23 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Kiden groans, rolling her eyes as the man on screen predictably begins to wail as zombies crawl over each other and up the ladder, presumably to eat him.]

I had high hopes for that one.
foolishwren: oh you know, Sony bankrolls Hideo Kojima's fever dream about Norman Reedus giving birth in a Red Lobster. But it's okay, because we get a pachinko machine. ("what's the matter heather??")

[personal profile] foolishwren 2013-07-23 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Heather spreads her arms, gesturing broadly to the screen.]

See, that's the thing!

They go outta their way to show the dude as being this super resourceful zombie-killer who's survived for years in the zombie apocalypse, and then the narrative needs him to die so they just randomly give him a giant case of the stupids in the middle of the movie!

Lazy.
gutter: (⟢ deadpan)

[personal profile] gutter 2013-07-23 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
I know, right? Thirty minutes left and we're already down to like, the chick, the main guy and the black dude. They're not even trying.

[A beat.] I hope the chick bites it.
foolishwren: Or do you just rip a hole in your chest and let the locusts fly randomly into the keyboard? (do you like... THINK before you type?)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2013-07-23 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, she's gonna live. I call it.

She and the lead are gonna live and it'll end on some stupid 'now we need to re-populate the human race' Adam and Eve shit.
gutter: (⟢ thinking)

[personal profile] gutter 2013-07-23 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
What's with that? What if she's not into him? [A pause. Kiden glances none-too-subtly at Heather and stage-whispers:] Maybe he and the black dude are boning.

You never know.
foolishwren: Looks like SOMEONE hasn't tried finger but hole (HEH...)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2013-07-23 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
[... Okay, she's gonna burst into none-too-mature snickers at that.]

Now THAT'd be a twist.

But no way, they've already shown him and the chick gazing at each other soulfully at least once. I'll betcha anything they'll be macking on each other before the movie's over.
gutter: (⟢ matter-of-fact)

[personal profile] gutter 2013-07-23 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, I'm telling ya, main dude's gonna kick it, then the black guy is gonna become the chick's sassy gay friend or something.

[Kiden pauses; on screen, Main Dude and The Chick are gazing soulfully at each other.]

Man, now I'm gonna be disappointed when it doesn't actually happen.
foolishwren: stop giving them credit for administrative skills they almost certainly didn't have (dinosaurs didnt "rule the earth")

[personal profile] foolishwren 2013-07-23 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Shit, me too.

I mean, this movie was pretty much destined to be disappointing from the beginning, but it's gonna be even worse now. Thanks.

[She grabs the pillow on her right and shoves it bodily against Kiden to show her displeasure.]
gutter: (⟢ sarcastic)

[personal profile] gutter 2013-07-23 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
[All pretense of watching the film abandoned (it's not like the ending is anything but predictable), Kiden shoves Heather back with her own pillow.]

You wanted to watch zombie movies, bitch. You set yourself up for disappointment. I'm innocent, here.
foolishwren: i have no clue what’s going on, ever, in any moment, at any point in time. who knows what’s going on? not me. not ever (let me just make one thing clear)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2013-07-23 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[She grunts and plants an arm against the pillow, pushing on it steadily as though it's some kind of wall between them.]

I wanted to watch that one where the heroes hang out with Bill Murray. You're the one who picked THIS winner out!

[Excuse you, Bugs Bunny is awesome, okay? People don't portray Jack Frost accurately, so why is Bugs Bunny any different?

Besides, it's a particular fantastic segment. When it reached the end, "Well, what did you expect in an opera? A happy ending?", Jack swung his feet a bit as he laughed again. Ahh, it never got old!

He happened to look over, as was his wont to see the kids' faces, when he cause sight of Bunny's. And practically flailed off the tree.]

[Elissa sits on an adjacent branch of the tree, fingers dipping into a bag of well-seasoned jerky.]

This is brilliant! [Her voice is pitched for his ears, but she's broadly grinning.]

Moving pictures. Amazing.

[As Daffy gets shot in the face again and his beak goes spinning 'round his head, the Warden almost chokes on her salty snack with laughter. The concept of having lawful seasons to hunt different animals is a strange one, but the humor of the situation is not lost upon her.]

Maker - Alistair would love this.

[He grins down at her, finally hopping down to sit next to her on the grass and even sneaking a hand in there to steal a piece of jerky.]

You sure? This is stuff adults take their kids to, nowadays. I think they forgot animation was original meant for adults.
elissacousland: (piperelissa)

[personal profile] elissacousland 2013-07-23 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! Yes, I am sure. Alistair is a boy at heart. A very large one. You two would get along quite well, I am certain. Even if he is closer to Thor in size than your own.

[Not really as big as Thor, but it was the best correlation she could make from those she knew on Verdana. She tilts her bag of jerky toward him, happy to share.]

I believe I understand how this is done - to a point. Tis much like drawing little figures in the corners of a book and then thumbing through them to make them move. Aldous, my tutor, despised it when we defaced books in such a way even if we were not truly harming the book's contents. [She gives Jack a wink.] That just meant the images were usually of him waving his arms about in outrage. I... simply do not understand how these larger pictures are shown in such a manner as this. Still, one need not understand to enjoy.

[BANG! and Daffy gets shot again, setting off Elissa's laughter once more.]
frostedoverland: (❄️ 13)

[personal profile] frostedoverland 2013-07-23 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really care how tall or whatever someone is. You should see North.

[North isn't so much as big as Thor as he is around the middle and yet can wield his sabers easily.]

It's pretty much the same concept, yeah. Just bigger. I got to see how this all got invented, so it's pretty cool. Nowadays, it's mostly digital but for awhile, it was all hand drawn. Once the all the drawings are done, they basically take a picture of each and every frame and put it onto a cell.

[He pointed to the projector. Pausing as Elissa because to laugh again at Daffy's misfortune. Once she settles, he continues.]

The cells are a strip of material called celluloid and you feed it into that machine. It projects the pictures onto the screen at a speed that lets the pictures because movement, like you would do when you flipped the pages in the book.
elissacousland: (piperelissahairdsm)

[personal profile] elissacousland 2013-07-23 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Elissa would probably like North quite a lot, should he ever show up from the pods on the ship. A big, jolly man who fights with two blades as she does? Yes. They'd get along well.]

The artists are quite good at keeping consistency with the characters. I am impressed. I am impressed by all of it. What a fascinating use of technology to make a simple entertainment.

[She offered her back of jerky toward Jack again, eyes intent upon the action after a curious glance to the movement of the projector.]

To think that someone put so much work into making pictures move for an audience is astounding. They were quite clever. As are you for knowing so much about how it is done!

Steel Samurai x Jammin Ninja: THE MOVIE aka some action packed kid's show

[personal profile] logicistruth 2013-07-23 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Edgeworth just happened by the big screen they've setup in the park and they were showing the latest --and only-- Steel Samurai film to hit the big screen. Well, it also starred the Jammin Ninja, but that was a minor detail.

He was pretty engrossed by the film, considering he found himself sitting down in an empty chair after he stood for a while. It was getting to the climax of the feature after all.]

Mm... ["A Samurai Kick and a Steel Samurai Sushi Slice should be enough to defeat the Jammin Ninja."]
rocksthecourt: ♪ How shall I fill the final places? (let's think about this logically)

[personal profile] rocksthecourt 2013-07-24 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ Klavier hadn't exactly intended to spend a part of his Friday night watching a kid's movie either. But... aah, there he was. Enjoying the thrill of nostalgia. Ach, it had been years since he'd seen anything related to The Jammin' Ninja, hadn't it? ...It was more of a guilty pleasure he'd kept from his brother when he was supposed to be studying, he had to admit. But despite that, the memories all came flooding back as he was walking by and he heard the beautiful strum of that red guitar.

So he'd also been sitting here a while, watching as the two storylines eventually crossed paths. Both the Jammin' Ninja and the Steel Samurai found themselves on opposite sides of a complicated situation and were now about to start their inevitable faceoff.

This didn't seem like much of a competition, honestly. The samurai might have brute force, but the Jammin' Ninja had cunning. He didn't need violence to solve all of his problems. Still, it seemed like this would be an exciting match to watch.

...Or it would be, if the Steel Samurai wasn't dragging it out for dramatic's sake. Yup, there he went. Fan spread in hand, an overdramatic pose that had nothing to do with fighting, and a cliche line that just begged to be printed on t-shirts everywhere. This was the character that reminded him time and again that he was watching something directed at children... ]

Tch... [ Please. With how long it took this guy to read his over-the-top line, it was amazing he hadn't been taken down a long time ago. ]
