No!

Did they confiscate the snacks?
casketeer: (amaryllis)

grasps ur hands...it's never too many....never too many!!

[personal profile] casketeer 2024-09-20 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately several of them, yes. I assume they wish to verify the contents...

I must say, it's a bit of a first. Usually such gateways tend to beeline for the coffin first, but they haven't so much as asked about it yet this time.

No!!

I would be yelling "rules are made to be broken"...

How DO you usually get that coffin through customs, anyway?

And you would then be under arrest by security...well, most people yelling that sort of thing would be, anyway. It occurs to me now that a Nameless might command a bit more leniency, depending on the port. But alas, not all of us are quite so politically untethered.

As for the coffin, well, that varies by the port as well. Some places aren't sure what it's for, while others are promptly aware. I usually cite that it's a delivery for a client, and that said client would find it culturally offensive to the highest degree if it were opened. I also have some documents that are generally accepted...
[that may or may not be forged but hey, that's small beans compared to fabricating an IPC merchant guild's license apparently good enough for the Xianzhou to allow through, so--!!]

Sometimes it has to be run through a scan of some kind anyhow. But, usually, the results are odd enough that they end up waiving it through in the end.

Huh, that's pretty useful for us to know, actually. We wind up having to do this kind of thing a lot. But claiming offense and coming with papers is a pretty convincing move...

[ Though, in a strange amount of these cases, Caelus himself is the contraband that needs to be smuggled through... ]

You're so smart, Luocha. I learn so much from you every day!

[ Like how to... conduct... criminal... activities... ]

[caelus...your implications here......]

Now now, there's no need for such warm flattery over such a thing as this. Sometimes these methods border rather disingenuous, to be frank. But it's often a necessity to pursue the journey, as many things are...

Hold on, though, I think perhaps we ought to draw back a pace. The Nameless "do this kind of thing a lot", is that truly so?

I guess? I mean, I do, anyway.

Himeko's a lot better at making things legal and official.

Dan Heng keeps things legal on technicality, but he'll also stab someone in the gut if it's legal on technicality.

I think all of us are different flavors of "rules are made to be broken," to be honest. It's just a matter of how pleasantly you want the rules to be broken.

Hm, interesting. Very interesting. You know, I think you've just given me some new insight on how the Astral Express often functions...and it makes sense, the more I think upon it. I imagine you all tend to frequently run into situations where time is of the essence over legality, after all...and if all goes well, then there's always time to smooth things over after the crisis is averted--does that sound about right?

Honestly, with all this talk of breaking rules, now I'm wondering if I ought to try a little harder to retrieve my snacks...

That's what I'm saying!

The customs officers don't really care about safety or the greater good. They're just abusing their authority over you! Those are harmless snacks, and they were meant to bring you joy!

I'm ticked off just thinking about it. I want my Luocha to be happy with his snacks!!

[oh look at this...is he getting a bespoke motivational speech from caelus right now? about sticking it to authority?? pretty fervent...probably entirely sincere too....this is cute.......]

'Your Luocha', is that right? [more amused than anything, honestly. this is also cute,] You're quite passionate about this, I see. Your words convey it quite plainly. I do believe I'm feeling pretty motivated now...

If you were here with me at this moment, would you be taking your bat to these customs officers on behalf of rescuing my snacks?

[ the Plucky Hero lecturing Guy Who Wants To Kill God about sticking it to authority has a rather pronounced flavor of irony to it... but he does deliver some decent motivational speeches from time to time... ]

Of course I would! I would fight valiantly for those snacks!

They deserve the privilege of being eaten by you. A fate like this is too cruel...

[it really is very funny on multiple levels, if one thinks about it a little too hard, but look...it's fine...it's the thought that counts here, mainly, and this is a very sweet one.]

Rescuing them from such a cruel fate, indeed you'd be my hero. Ah, but your valiant fighting wouldn't sit well with security in the end. They'll probably be sending reinforcements shortly. The snacks might be retrieved, but what would be the plan of escape?

[yes maybe he's indulging in some text rp to kill some time here now and what about it! what about it!!]

[ it's fine, caelus is about to do the same thing with misha, somewhere... ]

Well, first of all, I'd return the snacks to you. But you're the most important thing in this situation, so I'd grab you, and then...

Wait. Why do you want to get through customs again?
casketeer: (queen of the meadow)

[personal profile] casketeer 2024-09-22 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[laughing at how we're having rp inception in both threads rn somehow but im here for it lmao]

Oh, this is something of a connecting stop. I have a shuttle to catch at this same port, headed for an adjacent solar system to this one here. But the layover will be a few days, so I'll have to book a stay nearby until then. Or, well, that was the original non-snack-confiscated agenda...

Why, where do you plan to grab me to?

Ah, and don't forget, there is a coffin in tow as well.
