[Now to say that his life had calmed down after everything that had happened recently was an understatement. With Arkride Solutions down to one occasional part-timer, Van found himself mostly doing his solo work once more. On one hand, he felt that this gave him more freedom to move how he wanted to move and not to have to worry about exposing everyone else to danger.

But on the other hand, there was a lingering listlessness that he couldn't avoid. The office has become much quieter for him without people butting him unannounced. And then, there was René and Elaine... Even if Van felt they could kick back like the old days and catch up, those two had their own lives and jobs that they were involved in. Van knew that he couldn't just casually walk up to the CID or the Bracer Guild and ask if they could hang out. It would've super awkward for both sides unless he had an excuse (made up or not) to check in.

To put it simply, Van Arkride was lonely... But he doesn't realize it nor will he admit it. This was why human bonds were the perfect medicine for him or he would regress to his usual self-destructive habits. But thankfully, he catches someone sending him a few pictures on his phone. Whenever it came to sweets like this, Van was very easy to reel in like a fish to a hook.]
