[Staring lazily up at the grey ceiling, Sam's eyes heavily blinked in a slightly irregular pattern as his body settled fully against the bed spread. He had been up since eight in the morning, but didn't quite have the heart to wake the small, slumbering figure that made herself at home against his chest.

It's moments like this that make getting out of bed nearly impossible. Yet as the minutes quickly ticked by into hours, Sam could no longer justify the illogical thought of staying in bed all day. Even if it was, by far, the most appealing thought he has had in a very long time.

Sherlock sits up immediately, mouth slightly agape and brows knitted firmly as he tries to recall what happened for Molly to end up in his bed... and comes up with nothing. He looks around. Nothing to indicate what he's apparently forgetting. Fine; he'll start with what he knows. His head still aches, and there's an uncomfortable sensation in the pit of his stomach - nausea. Typical of a hangover; John's complained of one more than once after a night out with Stamford. The trouble lies therein: Sherlock doesn't like drinking. It makes thinking difficult, and if he can avoid muddying his thoughts, he will. It's the day after Christmas, he remembers that much. The party had been John and his current girlfriend, Mrs. Hudson, Lestrade, and Molly. Lestrade had gone home, Mrs. Hudson had gone to bed, John had gone out with his girlfriend to her flat, and Molly...Molly had stayed. He remembers there being wine, bourbon, but he can't recall drinking any of it.

Sherlock is at least wearing pyjamas and, from what he can see of the sleeping girl's shoulder, she's wearing pyjamas too. His pyjamas.

Loki had stolen all of the blankets in the night, rolled up in them and all attempts to force him to share would be met with resistance. Unwitting resistance, but resistance all the same. Bits of clothing were scattered about and Loki's horned helm was perched on one of the bed posts.

From the bathroom, there was an odd snuffling noise and scratching at the door while off to the side, Captain America's shield was embedded into the wall. Did they steal it? Possibly.

This is not Ilde's first apocalyptic rodeo.

The past thirteen years have given her plenty of time to think about the kind of irony involved in surviving what she did - in a manner of speaking - only to end up somewhere coming apart at the seams nearly as badly. She's played human, played at settling down, raised a daughter that she's proud of and who knows not to let the scientists too close, and when the going got tough-- the tough went back to basics. Edmé Ivanov is a promising trainee with the Jaeger program, but if the world weren't such a shithole, her mother's fictitious background, criminal history and sometime association with Hannibal Chau - doll-like and deceptive, Ilde is a cynic and a survivor with the morals of a cat - would've likely precluded access.

Probably would've precluded this, too, sifting more delicate items apart from militaristic khaki and tipping towards the bathroom on painted toes. But then, this really isn't her first apocalyptic rodeo, and jagged desperation, hope and competing hopelessness, always makes for interesting bedfellows. She knows all about that need for closeness - and she can offer that, even if her skin is unusually smooth and her body temperature offers less warmth than her eyes - but she remembers how many promises it doesn't involve making and she is mistrustful to a fault. This far and no further--

It's no way to live, but she knows all about edges.

[Sleep is something she's missed. Even in the vault they slept in shifts and the cold tile floor wasn't the best surface. She was sure her shoulder had a permanent easement that came from sleeping on her side. Just a little flat spot. It's in her head, she knows that, but there were also a lot of other things in her head.

Right now, Erica just is glad to be free. She's glad that they found her. Glad that things can maybe start to settle now that she's ready to actually listen. Not that Derek seems too keen on teaching them things, but she understands there's that fear of walking them all into a trap.

That would be bad.
