Prompts
I. Matchmaker, Matchmaker - You're a commoner, and the matchmaker - whether it be your parents or an actual village matchmaker - has had their say. It's time to meet your spouse-to-be.
II. Do Your Duty - This isn't a normal arranged marriage because your station calls for it. There's some purpose behind it: A political alliance, perhaps, or something else. You don't have much choice but to go through with it, so you might as well meet the other person.
III. Getting to Know You - So the engagement is official, and you've met the other person, but you still don't know them very well. Maybe you've decided to take them out, or maybe it's a chaperoned meeting. But it's good to spend time with someone you'll be spending the rest of your life with, right?
IV. Breaking it Off - Before your engagement, you were with someone else. You're still with someone else, but it's time to change that. Like it or not, you're going to have to break up with your significant other. In this prompt, you're interacting not with your potential bride or groom, but with someone else.
V. Runaway - That's it. You can't take this. There's no way you're going to go through with this - it's just not for you. You're all set to flee.
VI. One Last Chance - You're all set up for an arranged marriage, but you've got lingering regrets. Maybe there's an old flame you're just not willing to let go of yet. In this prompt, you're interacting not with your potential bride or groom, but with someone else.

It was quite remarkable that this was happening at all. The Ice Demons had been in isolation for a thousand years. For them to not only re-establish contact with the main bodies of demons, but to offer alliance was quite remarkable. Perhaps due to the way things were in flux, and many believed war was brewing, they had offered one of their own to an arranged marriage.

Naturally, there had been many possibilities. But the yoko, crafty as ever, had been particularly interested in alliance, playing the long game and feeling that the Ice Demons had quite a few resources that would be of used. And given Kurama's past, it was hardly surprising that he was one of the front-runners. (Other demons might have referred to it as a checkered past, but among yoko, clever exploits were a mark of status, and there were few with as many successful exploits as he.)

There would likely be little genuine affection between them, but that was hardly expected. And Kurama, despite his love of a clever scheme, was not a cruel demon. He was calculated, and you did not want to arouse his anger, but he was not cruel for the mere sake of it.

They would be married in a month, but today was the first time he would be meeting the woman herself; the other meetings had all been his delegation with hers. He had dressed for the occasion--the white tunic traditional among his people, but cinched with a fine belt, intricately embroidered until the cloth below was almost entirely obscured by the needlework. He also wore a woven gold bracelet and a ring in one ear, near the base so it wouldn't bend the ear over. He had also considered some time for the proper bridal present, since it was traditional to exchange a gift at this meeting. He'd finally settled on a box of rare seeds--Winter Roses, a breed of rose that flourished in the ice and cold.

Tale swishing very slightly beneath his tunic, he waited for the woman he was to marry to emerge.

[While Jeile had knew that he most likely would marry someone chosen for him he had always believed that it would be one from the branch families, not a foreign princess that he never had met before. His father had however said that the union of them would strengthen the bond between the both nations and that she would make a fine queen. And who was he to argue about his father's decisions?

At least Jeile saw it as polite to escort the princess to Astale in person for the wedding. It would be a long trip, but it would give them time to get to know each other a bit. It would truly be dreadful if they would have to mary one another as complete strangers.]

[ It's a mystery on how things came to this. Something about Digital world proposes. How was squall suppose to know that pulling Neku into a head lock under a waterfall meant he was asking for his hand in marriage? So now they were engaged and according to the Digimon, there was no way out of this. So since they couldn't get out of this arrangement, he might as well take Neku out to dinner, right?

Squall knocked on Neku's door and stood up straight as he waited for Neku to answer. He was wearing his SeeD uniform because it's his only formal attire that he owns. It probably might have helped if Squall actually told Neku about the date though, huh.]

[So, a first meeting is supposed to start with small talk, if you're lucky. If you're not, it's just you and the other person smiling awkwardly at each other and trying not to wince when your spouse-to-be's parents examine you like a slab of raw meat.]

[The issue here is that this isn't much of a first meeting. Sure, everyone's dressed formally in Hibiki's scoured-clean living room, and there are some awkward smiles and appraising glances. But the problem is that this isn't the first time Hibiki met Dai-- he was at her house two days ago helping her with calculus homework.]

[Not that his parents know about that. He's not supposed to have women as friends for exactly this purpose-- they'd worried that it would damage his chances with a proper wife. Nothing like being labeled a potential adulterer to deter classy ladies. So Hibiki has been inventing study groups for years, instead spending evenings with his best friend and her family.]

[He's fairly certain that the Shijimas set this up with the matchmaker, because this isn't something that would just happen by accident, and Mrs. Shijima keeps shooting conspiratorial glances at her husband. Hibiki knew nothing about this beforehand, but man, did his nerves evaporate when they walked in. Who could ask for better as a wife than their best friend?]
