Rabbit Done Died Meme
"The rabbit died" is an old saying meaning one is pregnant, coming from the now no longer practiced rabbit test.
Congratulations!
You're pregnant. Knocked up. Eating for two. Have a bun in the oven.
Insert your own cliched phrase here. No matter how you say it, you're
downright fertilized. Even if you're not typically in possession of a
womb, somehow it happened. Are you scared? Happy? Gassy? A combination
of everything? And who's the father, anyway?
1. Post with your character with their name and series in the subject line. If
you want to avoid any of the options, this would also be a good place to
list them.
2. This is one of those RNG memes, so you'll want to go to our good friend Random Number Generator and roll 1-6 for how far along you are. Or just pick what one you'd prefer.
3. If you're replying to someone, roll 1-4 for how you factor into this madness!
So, how far along are you anyway?
1. Two months - Sooooo all this sickness is kind of annoying, isn't it? At least you can still fit in your old clothes, right?
2. Four months - Okay, so things are getting a little tight. Time to break out the flowy stuff!
3. Six months - OH MY GOD IT'S AN ALI-- oh, no. It's just the baby moving. Although it's still kind of creepy, isn't it?
4. Eight months - Please. Please let it be over. Have mercy.
5. Overdue - C'mon kid! I'll buy you a pony! NO! TWO PONIES! My baaaaaack.
6. Wildcard - Your choice!
What's your role in this whole mess, person replying?
1. YOU ARE THE FATHER - Well, now you've gone and done it. Are you going to take responsibility, or head for the hills?
2. Friend - You may not have done the deed, but you're going to be there to help your buddy. No matter HOW weird the circumstances!
3. Enemy - Do you feel a 'HAW HAW' coming on? This is just too funny.
4. Wildcard - Second verse, same as the first.
Not my meme. Shamelessly copied!

Still, she was curious about his curiosity. "You've never asked before, though."

When he asked she grinned at the question, unexpected as such. "Oh, god, that's... okay, uh." She leaned her head back again, examining the ceiling as she considered. "That's a hard one. There are a lot of things that probably deserve to be on that list. Well...
"I had a little boy, a long time ago," she started, waving her hands in sort of a general descriptive manner. "He was, that one was pretty well mundane human, and you know I think somehow without meaning to I've finagled this body to tie in how magical they are to hair colour? Anyways he was a dark little thing, but he was a loudmouth, too -- he just didn't have the shit to back it up, but his big brother did and everyone we lived around at that point knew that my eldest was a mean scrapper, but my little guy hadn't gotten into any fights he couldn't talk himself out of yet.
"Anyways, of course he had to be a badass too -- that kind of culture, that kind of time and place -- so inevitably he got into a fight. Well -- I mean, almost. What actually happened was he bluffed the other guy down, scared the shit out of him without lifting a finger. I managed to catch the tail-end of it, and I've never seen a better bluff since. I don't think I've been prouder... well.
"But hell, Aaron," she looked entreatingly at the man, "he was still so young. I mean it was kind of a dog-eat-dog world at the time, but he was just -- just about Cassie's age actually. Maybe five. Too little. He came home and cried because he'd been so scared."
The elemental squeezed her eyes shut and brought the heels of her palms up to her eyes, rubbing fiercely. It was different, thinking of the specifics than it had been telling him in the general. "Oh, hell," she said, voice a bit thick, and then a bit small. "I miss him. I miss all of them."

There was no real way to know whether or not the ones she remembered were the only ones she had ever had, either, but that was too bleak to bring up. Instead she half-turned, wrapped her arms around him tightly. "I keep hoping just one will inherit whatever it is that keeps me alive," she admitted to him quietly.

"Thank you." She tilted her head up, kissed his cheek. "I'm alright, though. I'm just going to blame hormones for this one."

It'd gotten her thinking, though, this whole conversation, and in one part of her mind she was running through the list of old loved ones, refreshing old, neglected memory pathways. In a way it was concerning. She hadn't thought about some of them in years; that was bad. She crossed her arms behind her head and looked up at him, look canting back to thoughtful. "I do mean it, though; if you ever want to ask, with you, I'm happy to talk about it. This," she waved a hand vaguely, tone deeply wry, "won't happen every time."

"I guess if anyone has the resources to, it's you. Check with that mighty search engine in the future. Actually," she frowned thoughtfully, "might be better to stick to searching in the here and now. Bet you'd find info about ours in the future."

Vanar, at least, was still in the room. Spotting his chance, the great dog wandered up to Kay and rested his chin on her knee. If nothing else, she had one staunch defender for life.
