① fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.

② stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?

③ literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.

④ the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!

⑤ you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.

⑥ everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.

(( Bio-. A man from a world where once a month, somewhere in the world is struck by a reality-altering event. He has recently joined the organisation that combats paranormal events and supernatural criminals, using his transmogrification powers.

Option 1-

[ Yamada likes cold weather. Something about it is pleasingly sharp, and it's easy for him to deal with. He's been sitting on a park bench for so long he's evenly covered in snow, just a pair of bright green eyes peeking out. He certainly looks like some kind of unusual snowman, right up until someone walks nearby, and he raises a hand to wave. ]

Nice weather we're having, ain't it?

[ Yeah he's doing a Freaky the Snowman. So what, it's fun. The flakes fall away from his arm, revealing his hand is made of ice. Hard to get cold when you're cold itself. ]

Option 2-

[ While he'd much rather be playing in the snow, work comes first. No matter how often Yamada pretends he's all jokes and flippant remarks, he takes his duties seriously. His boots crunch through the snow of the woods, but the sound changes with each step. More frequently, as his arms lengthen into legs, his four feet widen into huge, wide paws that spread his weight on the snow. White fur spreads from the top down, and his body elongates into a streamlined, sleek shape. He can't resist adding a black ring around his muzzle and eyes, replicating his stubble and bags. His swivelling ears rotate to search the wilderness, his new long tail ending in a wide tuft, held high. Galloping through the snow as a nine-foot-tall unidentified cryptid, his eyes shimmering mirrored orbs, he hops into the view of someone and stops. Somewhere between feline and mustelid, he rears up and-

He gives a peace sign with two claws big enough to rip someone in two. ✌️

[ let's have fun with the assorted climate extremes star wars has to offer. also, like, if anyone out there plays galen and feels like writing an alternate interpretation of the rescue on vallt in which only he's being kept prisoner (as opposed to the whole family) and the two of them have to hack it luke-on-hoth style for a bit in Tundra Hell while technically in enemy territory, you'd have my heart. notes on my interpretation of him + character-specific warnings here. ]

Stop it! Stop shaking the doorknob. It's a fucking deadbolt, Jyn. All you'll do is damage the front door.

[ Oh, she's her mother's daughter. Galen would never react to a locked, keyless front door by just trying to open it harder—though Orson's not particularly thrilled with his spouse, either, considering that he's called him three times this hour and Galen still hasn't picked up, presumably so hyperfocused on whatever he's doing in the laboratory that he isn't even hearing the ringer.

Which leaves him alone with Jyn, who has just gotten home from school at about the same time he's gotten home from a long day on base—her in her teenage look-how-little-I-care ensemble, him in his ACUs, both of them standing out sharply against the backdrop of a Maryland historic snowstorm that has coated everything, including power lines and trees (and, apparently, the hidden backup key to the front door) in two feet of paperwhite crystalline precipitation.

He hasn't been this frustrated in a long time, and now he has to watch this brat the entire time he stands out here freezing in the -6 windchill. Business lines have all been taken out by the storm, so there's no locksmith to call, and even with the plow and salt trucks grinding away down their street every half-hour, the snow's coming down too fast for public works to keep up with, so the roads are more or less unusable. Assuming Galen leaves work on time, which he probably won't if he's this distracted, his one-hour commute from D.C. is about to become at least a three-and-a-half hour commute. (The fact that Jyn's high school still sent them to school in this is baffling, but that's another complaint...)

His toes already feel cold and numb in his boots; they're not insulated and neither are his socks. They're going to be out here for a while, probably at least another four hours, and he's thinking about a hotel—but that, too, raises problems, because if power is out here, power is probably out there, so they presumably won't have any way to manage the rooms, and who knows how many people are going to abandon ship on 95 and try to find somewhere to stay for the night. He's also not going to sit in a car with this girl for however many hours and stay warm that way, especially considering that they may have to siphon off gas for the generator to keep the heatpump running overnight. They've been married for three years, living in the same household for three years, and Lyra's been dead for ten, and still the kid despises him every bit as much as he does her, despite a frankly astonishing amount of tolerance extended her way entirely for Galen's sake. Being trapped in an even smaller space with her is the only way this could get worse.

Orson folds his arms across his chest, regarding the neatly plowed front doorstep with resentment—in all likelihood, the plowing service scraped up the damn key with the snow they removed. ]

5 you know what this is

[ The events of the hunter's raid brings them to one of Ulysses' safe houses in the mountains. It's the closest the two of them can manage in the transportation provided by a locally purchased car rather than anything the damn Disciples of Ammit can provide. Elsa has the car packed to the brim with provisions; even in death she doesn't count on her father providing her, let alone Jack, any sort of modest quality of living. Jack deserves the respite.

Begrudgingly she has to let him drive with his hand in the condition it's in. She's made an effort and yet it would seem driving with a hurt hand is safer than a driver who is recovering from some absolute bitch of a poison.

Even though Jack's hand is well into its healing stage the fact that it's marred at all is unacceptable. This could, and should, have all been avoided. She hates having to limp into the home first to disarm the traps, to be so openly weak, hates having Jack have to bring everything inside. It's dressed like a hunting lodge but furnished with cool, steely furniture: nothing too comfortable and sparse.

As Elsa enters the front room she sighs heavily at the sight that greets her. She sticks her arm out to block Jack from entering immediately. ]

Oh for fuck's sake.

[ She scowls at the various shapes of head adorning the wall and carcasses of various smaller creatures. Will this task be never-ending?

She can only keep the sight from him for so long-- it's imperative he doesn't freeze. Lowering her arm slowly she give him a look somewhere between a scowl and distress. ]
