Ah, marriage proposals. Popping the question, as they call it. You're absolutely certain you want to spend the rest of your life with this special someone but how do you do it? There are so many ways! Let's see, there are the "classics" and the cute and nerdy ways, or the occasional halftime proposal at sporting events (or during the medal ceremonies). Sky's the limit!
You love this person, right? Then just go for it!

How this works:

"Frieren."

She's dense, and her experience with all things intimate was about as well-versed as her experience with emotions... which was to say it was scarce. Despite this, after managing to reunite with her--Having heard word of the tears she'd shed, Himmel wanted to leave little to no room for regrets for her. Descending onto one knee the same way he had that very day, her hand held in his; The band between his fingers this time is of similar design with the words 'Fiala Toll' engraved onto the inner side.

But he doesn't slide the ring onto her finger as he did back then, not yet.

"Will you stay with me, for as long as my life lasts?"

A pause. That might not be specific or blatant enough, no?

"What I mean is... I would like to marry you."

(if she ever put stock into it at all, frieren thinks the goddess kind. after all, she is here where she never imagined she would be again---beside himmel in flesh and blood. while having no more room in her heart to regret having not known him better frieren doesn’t know how to respond when he drops to one knee. had he thought about this the whole time, she wonders? it is likely. her memories, in retrospect, revealed how much the hero adored her. loved her. was patient with her when she didn't understand. she blinks, that small curl of her lips growing as he speaks.)

Himmel...(a name breathed softly with affection.) You always wanted to ask me that, didn't you?

(she reaches with her free hand, carding her fingers through his hair the color of a summer sky.)

Yes, Himmel. I will stay by your side for as long as you live.

Always, even if I had long accepted that rejection awaited me even if I tried back then.

[Truth be told, Himmel never spared much thought as their drunken priest of a companion did towards the goddess, but at the end of the day--Only one such as she could have had the power to allow him to reunite with his precious lady. Though time stole much from him like a thief, his feelings had never changed, not once. No fair noble could deter him from his voluntary celibacy, for he knew in his heart that he could not be faithful to them when another already held permanent residence in its depths.

Smiling softly as her fingers thread into her hair so gently, gazing up at her--Himmel finally slides the band where the old ring he'd bought her would once regularly find its place, before pressing his lips to the back of that very same hand.]

(ah, what is this? the fluttering of her heartbeat like a little bird! and the tears that well up in her eyes of jade...they are not the same as they had been when himmel was first laid to rest. these surely are tears of joy! frieren's whole being becomes laden with such affection that her bones almost ache for it. surely this...this is the love of which himmel speaks?

she is not so careless to say something with such weight without thought. to say them to him and be insincere would be egregious. but when she gazes down at him now, after all these years, there is little of which she is more certain.)

[Frieren was a painfully honest person whether she was aware of it or not, and one who would not utter words that she did not mean in any shape, way, or form. As such, when she finally offers him that reply he's only ever dreamed of, only ever believed to be the stuff of his imagination; Himmel's own heart soars to new heights.

The smile that grows on his lips is remarkably soft, emanating a warmth that few would ever see or feel from him.]

To the harbour. We will make passage to Essos, Braavos perhaps.

In Braavos our merit will matter more than who we are, perfect for disappearing and making our own lives.

[Of course the first thing she'll do as soon as she shoulders only what she needs is take Aemond by the hand as always whenever they set off for anywhere.]

Be wary, it may not be quite so easy. I am... remarkable, in looks. I will be noticed.

[Her hand is taken firmly, as they set off toward the harbour.]

We shall have to go far inland when we arrive. To where a Targaryen may not be known.

In that you are the most beautiful person I have ever known? That could be very problematic.

[She gives his arm a playful nudge with her shoulder understanding exactly what he means, that his Targaryen heritage was certainly not subtle.]

I am more at home away from cities and crowds of people.

[Her concern is more for him where the city and being surrounded by people was a daily thing for Aemond.]

As if you would not stand out for that very reason.

[He smiles down at her.]

You are all I need.

I am in fear for the impressive countenance of our children.

[It's that smile that knows how to break her resolve and one she could be strong for.]

That is humbling, but I feel the same way. I love you and I will care for you until my last day.

They will be like no one else before them.

[He has to stop her, has to lean down to kiss her gently right there in the middle of the path.]

[She might be more accustomed to his kisses now, but they are just as new and scintillating as the first. She still has to wind her arms around his shoulders so her knees don't buckle completely.]

Where is a sacred witness when one is needed? [It's hard to be puckish when the moment rends her heart.] These sound like vows...though lack of an officiant does not make them less legitimate.

[She presses Aemond with another kiss.]

We will find one and an officiant and make this binding as soon as we can.

[In the immediate future, there are more kisses.]

If nothing else she's been practicing and while she can speak Low Valyrian it's the bastardized version taught to her for the purposes of trade. It wasn't the language of love that Aemond spoke with the same finesse as wielding a sword and she was determined to purify what she'd learned.

Aemond had mentioned wanting his children to speak his language, among other things that came to her mind while stealing kisses from him. And what did come to mind gave her pause, not in a way that weakened her resolve, but in a way that addressed something Aemond was also very proud of.]

What of Vhagar?

[He grins, impressed.]

[Love of my life. He will teach their children many things, High Valyrian among them. The thought soothes him, though what he says next is spoken with a heavy heart.]

She cannot come with us. There is no hiding with a dragon. We have said our goodbyes.

[Abigail knew Aemond, every movement was deliberate and not wateful, every word was weighted and calculated, in between those things were the moments of levity and relief they had together.

She knew him well enough not to be sorry because he had made a choice and he was decisive. Even still she was sorry, not for his choices, but for an imperfect world where being a dragon rider could not exist with loving her at the same time.

It was certainly something she would never take for granted and she gave his hand a gentle squeeze in her own. It was hard to find words, but if dragons had similar feelings to their own then she would feel Aemond's loss as deeply as Abigail could have.]
