[ The mission was a shitshow. Plain and simple. No bones about it. One of many missteps, but nothing disastrously detrimental. It just meant a firefight, a couple guys shot dead, and any traces of who did it? Well, those were long gone. Up and gone into the ether like so much smoke. Vanished into one of many safe houses. Is it one of theirs? She's not sure, but it might as well be now.

Kaede pauses in the midst of clearing the magazine from her pistol at the sight of something strange: a smear of blood on Sylus' cheek. Briefly, she wonders if he's wounded. Unlikely, with his Evol. He's taken a bullet to the chest enough times in front of her to know that won't necessarily do the trick. Still, the sight of it twists her stomach. If he's injured, she's failed. Such is her personal conviction.

The touch is ghost-like. Light and airy and quick, no different than the lightest touch she's often used to rupture an artery or sever a spine. Just a brush of her thumb over the spot of blood to wipe it away, but she savors the brief contact. His skin's every bit as smooth as she thought, like silk. ]

[ despite rumours of the dozing general's indolence, jingyuan is ruthlessly efficient when it comes to eliminating dangers to the xianzhou. however, even the divine foresight will be summoned to the forefront of war for the sake of his people and the alliance.

this time, the monstrosity's threat casts a shadow over the luofu, together with a host of machinations weeded out and unmasked, only to be cast down and eliminated by the general. the necessity of bloodshed is what follows this long, drawn-out war; perhaps it will claim jing yuan like it has claimed teng xiao and the other great generals before him, perhaps not.

today is the day for glory, paid in full by jingyuan's skill and intellect, signed in blood. the luofu rejoices, throws a banquet to celebrate life and to honour the fallen, but jingyuan makes a graceful retreat. there are wounds that need tending, and of late, he has quietly chosen the company of the yaoqing's messenger. an unwise decision in the eyes of others, perhaps, but a natural turn in a private, intimate... association.

jingyuan is aware of jiaoqiu's nature, his skills and abilities, as he does the pain and heartache that follows the foxian healer -- the in-depth reports he had secretly commissioned of him sits in the back of his mind as he sits on the edge of the bed, awaiting jiaoqiu's assessment. the wounds look much better, but the energy within him still needs time to restore itself, catch up to the healing. ]
