Feel seen

Through Their Eyes
a description meme

how it goes

Give: Preferences, information, etc.
Get: Your character, described, as seen by others and their points of view. Possibly shippy (but not necessarily). Hopefully complimentary (but not necessarily). Because sometimes, you need an extra set of eyes to see what's obvious.

Spoken like a true Ventrue. [ She seems incredibly pleased with this assessment. ] Though to be fair, I think it's also about how I sometimes fall into water features.

You don't say. [ LaCroix sounds warm and content. That's more than adequate return for the complementary assessment of her. Nothing pleases Sebastian more than feeling a credit to the clan. ]

OSHA takes good care of things like that, you know.

What, you want me to put it in writing? I will. [ Certainly wouldn't be the first time Birdie has put her stamp of approval into a frame, for posterity.

The mention of OSHA, though, gets her animated. ]
That's the thing, though! There's rails! They put them in after I kept falling, and sometimes I still just pinwheel right over.

I shall treasure your assessment, there's no need to commit it to text.

...is there something in your personal life you're overly concerned about? [ A psychological need to drown yourself? Nothing quite so Jungian, anyway. But it does seem more strange than just being accident prone. An intriguing mystery, it encourages LaCroix if anything. ]

[ Birdie is about to say the offer is still on the table for a written testimonial, but then she asks that, and it effectively derails things for a moment. It's almost audible, the click of her thoughts changing track. ]

I mean, plenty. Don't we all? [ Not getting into what those things are, though. Ex-Prince and his Childer wandering around with a grudge? Banshee complications? A staked Sire? Nope, no thanks. ] Jocalo is looking into it, and he's made sure the ghouls that are working in the lobby steer me away from the Nile when they see me come through.

I always assume there may be some element of distraction or trauma. As fish are wet, Kindred experience mind-altering stress.

However. I am never one to marry fully to a theory which has few facts. Therefore! I should like to ask you... if there are security tapes. Because I would like to review them.

[ LaCroix smiles at her mildly. ] You bring me a great deal of comfort. If I can solve even a minor problem in return, it would satisfy me.

That feels like an understatement, but you aren't wrong.

[ All told, the smile is nice to see, even if it's only mild. She's grinned back for less, and the bit about comfort and satisfaction is probably nicer than the smile. ]

I'll ask Jocalo. Make sure I'm not stepping on toes, asking for an outside consultation.

Thank you for admitting it. You might be surprised - or you might not - how many individuals take the suggestion that the environment has compromised them in any way as a personal attack. I do not, of course, exclude myself.

Please do that. And give him my warm regards.

Honestly, the world in general seems pretty traumatizing. Even without the blood and masquerade. Just existing in it invites trauma, kindred and kine alike. It's why I prefer we have solidarity, much as we can.

Only the warmest. Pretty sure he'd like the help if only so he doesn't have to keep putting in increasingly higher rails.

As with kine, we don't do well in isolation, most of us. We instinctively seek kinship with one another, we form groups, societies, like minded persons of sect, of clan, of bloodline... All evidence points to our desire to be useful to one another. The time of our healing clans has long passed, but we remain. [ This is something not standard to the Agoge, nor widely embraced by the Ventrue in general, but LaCroix has pieced it together from scraps of Sabbat information, to get to a more realistic idea of how the Salubri may have been. ]

Exactly how many times has this happened?

[ Birdie knows next to nothing about the Salubri, but 'healer clan' certainly sounds like something she could vibe with. ] Careful. [ Said with a smile. ] If you suggest that too loudly people will start talking about kumbaya and assume it's my fault for unduly influencing you into hippiedom.

Lost count for like, total times. There were a few before the new railings went in that I walked right in because I was distracted. Now it's like, couple times a month? Something like that.

You deserve partial credit. The more Kindred who behave as though a future peace were possible, the more my thoughts incline toward it with hope and gratitude. They are only bitter toward the prospect because if it were seen as attainable, they should rightfully be seen as selfish to oppose it.

I hardly think even someone 'distracted' should do this many times. It's a static obstacle, correct? They haven't moved it.

Well then, if this is the influence I have I'll take the blame for it. And in my experience, those that oppose solidarity the most tend to be the ones that see the power they can get out of stoking unrest. Pitting people against each other like a game. Never cared for that angle. [ See also: reasons she doesn't trust Smiling Jack. ] Though if shame at being seen as selfish was enough, I'd have more successes under my belt.

No. Probably really hard to move a river, especially when it's right there in the lobby.
