Sweethearts
![]() THE CHILDHOOD ѕωєєтнєαят MEME Ahhh, young love. Whether it's precious or bittersweet, it's something that stays with you. Remember that time...? Of course you do. Both of you thought you'd last forever. Or maybe you were too young to know what that meant. All that mattered was that you were kids and you were together. But time and circumstance tears even the best of friends and young lovers apart. That person, your childhood crush, your first love, is just a memory. Now, you're being given a second chance. Will it be painful? Will you confess everything and try to win their affection again? You've been reunited, and it's up to you what happens. HOW TO ① Comment with your character. You can state preferences and such in your subject. ② Characters who comment will be their childhood sweetheart/first love. The muns can figure out how that works, but when in doubt, just wing it. It's a meme. Fun is the goal here. ③ KISS AND REUNITE. Or argue and storm off. Or cry. Or laugh. Or sex. Whatever is appropriate. |

Gah-!!
[she caught that lance sweep poorly, just barely in time to redirect it from taking a chunk out of her side. even so, the momentum of the rider racing past her with that swing destabilizes her footing and causes her to stagger. it leaves her open to the Grimleal swordsman lunging in hot at her flank.
Lucina grits her teeth, bracing for the strike. this one will hurt, but she can't let herself go down - not now! not when she still has so much to do to save her family and homeland!
pride before the fall, perhaps: she did dive in too deep on her own into this battalion, confident in her speed and precision to come out on top of the numbers. it had seemed to be working before that small batch of cavalry that she didn't notice chasing her back here!
should've asked for air cover... too late now.]

There's a lot in these handful of seconds that Yusuke's brain wants to latch onto: to remember, to process, to pick apart. But this is the battlefield, and his brain isn't a welcome participant, thanks very much. His instincts can take it from here.
He's too far away, he knows that immediately. Even with a running start, even if he long jumps the last few feet, he'll still be a split second too slow. So he charges, and then he shouts, with all the carrying power of a street urchin used to being the loudest one on the block:]
Hey!
[It's not much, but it does what he wants: force the swordsman to spend that split second thinking about him instead of her. That moment's slowness, the slightest shift of footing in the dirt, and Yusuke has all the time he needs.
It's a full-bodied hit, as much a tackle as a punch. The blades of Yusuke's gauntlet find purchase beneath the lip of the swordsman's light armor, and the edge of Yusuke's shoulder finds it against the swordsman's collarbone.
The downside is that it's too much spin and way too much momentum to get a clean exit from. They both go down in a spray of dirt and blood and shouting, but he pulled it off — keep the heat off her. Whatever comes next, he'll figure it out.]

[Lucina's a little gobsmacked by the sudden turn of fortune, stuck in place for a few seconds as both bodies hit the ground in a tangled mess. she's not used to working with such down-and-dirty brawlers...well, not anymore; the last time she'd been in a knuckle-brawl was as a kid, back when she was still allowed to run out of the castle, before the war...
too many seconds. she snaps out of it, entrusting the swordsman to her mystery hero and pivoting her focus to the remaining cluster of enemies left after the cavalry's run-through. she came out this far to stymie the flow of these soldiers into the bulk of her father's unit, so she better deliver! it will surely be easier with this surprise ally, should they survive...so she better help them survive, too!
Falchion angles and strikes at incoming foes like a scorpion's stinger to insist on making space for herself to get out of the way of the mess at her feet. with enough room, she can finally get some proper swings and parries off between checks over her shoulder. those second-guesses become less and less as it becomes clear someone really does have her back, meaning she can confidently keep her eyes forward and take down these remaining backliners. there's a flow to the fight that makes this seem easier, and Lucina can't help but feel a surge of excitement and confidence in striking ahead. battle of this nature is the last thing she should want, but she's always loved a good fight, and some of this genuinely feels good to work through now that she's got a sense of an upper hand.
it's unclear how long it takes to thin the herd, to see more and more backpedaling and calls for retreat from the Plegian forces; for all Lucina knows, it was mere seconds of spectacle or an hour of proven skill. either way, she stays her strike from a cowering foe, allowing escape (is that a rookie mistake? did they need captives? she hardly thinks of it.) and resting her weight off her toes.
panting heavily, she looks about for her rescuer, her hair matted to her face and obscuring some of her view.]
Whoever you are... I owe you my life...!

But there's no room to sit back and watch, as much as he might like to; once he's back on his feet, he's back in the fray. He locks in to the flow of the fight as easily as she does, letting the unspoken coordination that forms between them carry them through to the other side.
(He, by contrast, is thinking about stragglers, though it's certainly not along the lines of taking captives; it's years of war turning a mouthy kid's street pragmatism into a grim kind of ruthlessness.)
The battle lulls, and his brain, eager and curious and excited, bullies back to the forefront.]
Nah. [He's covered in dirt and sweat and blood (his? the enemy's? both?), but still bright-eyed and smiling, as pleased as he's always been by a good brawl.] You wouldn't have let a hit from a chump like that take you down, right? I just joined in the fun.
[He doesn't really expect her to recognize him immediately, or even at all. It was a long time ago, and she's royalty, and they've all been, uh, preoccupied. That's not an inferiority complex, that's just reality.]

once she's done a look-around to ensure no blades laying in wake to rise from playing possum and she's heard the horns from the front, she sheathes Falchion and is able to wipe her face clear of obstruction. her eyes wince a little to see the absolute state of the man, he--
he's short. how old is he (speak for yourself, girl!)? goodness, this war demands so much...
she blinks out of that thought, her smile waning as concern mounts. that's a lot of blood.]
How dire are your injuries? [not "DO you have injuries?"] Let us rejoin the front and find a cleric.
