[ Bucky's hiding out and eating. Would anyone expect him at a Denny's? Probably not, so he figures it's a pretty good cover. He's also hiding a tiny white kitten in his jacket- which is the only reason he's got a plate full of pancakes and bacon in front of him.

Every once in a while he glances around, then breaks off a small piece of bacon and it disappears into his half zipped up jacket. One might even see a little white paw if they're looking hard enough, but Bucky's glare tends to keep those looks to a minimum. ]

But she wasn't terribly hungry either, so she chose to order the brownie sundae. gosh she's going to have to work out something fierce later to work those calories off. While she waited for her food, she glanced around idly, willing and able to chat up anyone who stopped by. ]

[It isn’t Denny’s you wandered into at this strange hour, but another diner. One you may not ever remember seeing in this part of town, or perhaps you’re sure it’s been around forever, owned by some well-known local family. Either way, it’s this small, hole-in-the-wall diner you find yourself on at the moment.

Behind the counter is a guy, probably in his late 20s, and he’s looking pretty bored. That is, until you, lone wanderer, walk through the door, the tiny bell at the top of the door jingling to life to signal someone coming inside.

His voice is soft, but somehow still easily heard all the same:!]

Hey, welcome in. I’m Tristan, just flag me when you’re ready.

[It's late. He has no idea where he is right now, nor does he care. All that matters is there is a diner here and he's hungry. Giving a nod to the black lab sized dog beside him, he mumbled to him to 'behave' as he went to the door.]

[Upon hearing the voice he paused, glancing around to see the guy behind the counter, then to see if anyone else was here, before speaking to the guy.]

Hey... [He stood with the door open still, half inside, one boot out still. He's dressed all in black. Black jeans with a hole in the knee, a black band t shirt, and a open front black travel coat. the only thing not 'black' on him, besides his complexion, was his hair, though it looked possibly hard bleached. Behind him was the dog, who was peeking in past him.]

Would you be coo' if my friend came in with me? Swear. 'E's well trained.

Welcome to post-apocalypse Denny's, where there's no food being served, no staff waiting on anyone, no patrons waiting for a meal. Just a rotted out building standing alone in its abandoned parking lot, its broken windows crudely boarded up with graffitied wooden boards, and the scattered, decaying remains of what was once a cheap family restaurant. A thick mildewy film of dust covers every surface. A few skeletons of people who'd sought refuge here years ago sit in a slump of brittle bones in one of the booths. Delightful place to camp out for the night.

Scenario one!
It's been several long days since Joel last had anything semi-decent to eat, and hunger pains have been keeping him awake. He's been huddled in his sleeping bag for hours, listening to the eerie moan of the wind slithering through the bones of the old restaurant's creaky walls while trying to ignore the vicious nails of hunger raking away inside his gut. He can't stand it anymore; gathering up his flashlight, he throws the unzipped covering off himself, climbs out of the sleeping bag and steps over [insert your character here] asleep alongside him. Screw it. The restaurant seems picked clean but maybe Joel can find something.

Scenario two!
It's 3AM. The cracked pavements and broken roads that spread out beyond the abandoned Denny's parking lot and into the once-thriving town are empty, save for perhaps the faint distant screech and wail of Infected. A lone flashlight inside the Denny's sweeps this way, that way; the only sign of human activity that can be found for miles around. Joel has secured the place to camp in for the night, or so he thinks. He doesn't expect to hear the sudden noise of someone breaking in.

Even in post-apocalypse Denny's, there's a system. Nobody goes out to scrounge alone; no larger than a team of four; pairs is best. The buddy system. It's an ethos that Natasha has stuck to since everything went to shit. Sure, it increases the odds of survival, but it's also not not about the fact that Natasha used to fly planes for the Navy, and she never did it alone, and it's every cruel twist of fate in the world that she lived to sleep on the floor of a bad, creaky Denny's, eating a bare amount of thin oats soaked in coppery-tasting water, but her backseater didn't.

But everyone has stories like that. A lot of people die. Have died. Will die.

Rubbing a knuckle into her eye, Natasha squints in the dark after Joel's retreating body. She sighs and zips up her jacket, the exact one she was sleeping in, and she slept with her shoes on and laces tied and all she has to do is turn on her flashlight. The dusty beam tracks across the floor, throwing odd-shaped shadows on the walls: broken chairs, tipped over and cracked linoleum tables; other people in their official scavenging party, moundless shapes inside their own sleeping bags.

Natasha hefts the handle of her flashlight in her hand and tucks her pistol into the holster at her side. Something like glass crunches underfoot. She follows suit, wordless until they pass through a splintery doorway. It's only when they have some distance away from what was once the dining area that she says anything to the back of his head, at least so she doesn't have to whisper to not wake anyone up.

"Remember grand slams?" She says, idly. "You could get an entire meal for like, six dollars."

[It certainly isn't hard for Jason to sneak Sleeper in. They each have a copy of the menu to flip through. To an outsider, it might look cute that the rugged human is letting his pet cat pretend they're reading a menu]
