Step Into Film

It's beyond all logical sense, but it seems that you've crossed dimensions and stepped into a movie. Your flesh-and-blood body has turned celluloid, and now you're stuck here in a world that can't reasonably exist. You've seen this movie a thousand times. You know every spoken line, every twist of the plot.

Except... The hero's just looked at you when he should have been looking somewhere else. By existing here, you're changing the way the movie works. And in return, the movie might be changing you. How long can you stay before you become just another character? If movies aren't real, are you becoming less real every minute you stay here?

In this meme, characters have been transported into a movie. They could have both arrived at the same time, or perhaps one has arrived later with the intent of rescuing a friend. The longer they stay inside the film, the more they'll find themselves behaving in universe-specific ways. Will they be able to find a way home while they still remember what home is? Will someone try to bring a friend back home only to discover they're already too far gone?

Movie Genres:

Buddy cop. Your partner was just three days from retirement when he was killed. Your replacement is someone you'd never voluntarily spend time with otherwise. You're the oddest of odd couples, but there's nobody more capable of watching your back.

Action. Something's exploding. Maybe the president's daughter has been kidnapped. Maybe it's an alien invasion. Maybe you've gotten yourself caught up in a high-tension car theft ring. Whatever the reason, you have to move and you have to do it now. Try not to forget to look for a way home whenever you find time to breathe between high-octane setpieces.

Musical. Emotions run high, until there's no choice but to let them out. In song. During joyous times, characters group together and lose themselves in jubilant choreography. In sadness, they sing beautiful ballads. Are you in danger of becoming a Jet all the way? Will you find yourself shooting craps hoping Luck will be a lady tonight? Or maybe you'll be left asking people to let you entertain them.

Cartoon. Anything can happen here. The laws of physics need not apply. What will you do while here? You could swim with the daughters of Triton. Or maybe you've become embroiled in something that could change the world.

Fantasy. This land embraces the impossible. From the fantastic to the supernatural, things happen here that can't possibly happen in the real world. Try to stay calm. There's no such thing as ghosts, right?

Noir. You find yourself in a black and white world, but that expression only applies to the color scheme here. Gumshoe detectives hunch around with chips on their shoulders solving mysteries that aren't what they seem. Why does that sultry femme fatale want an inexpensive statuette? And what'll happen now that you've crossed an infamous crime boss? Will you be able to solve the mystery and make it out alive, or will you bite the wrong end of a bullet and take the big sleep?

Porn. How could anyone get lost in a place like this? Everything looks like it's happening in someone's basement, the lights are too bright and all the color is washed out. Everyone speaks so stiffly and unrealistically! But a pizza just arrived, and you've got no money here! Maybe there's only one way to pay for it...

Something Else. There are plenty of movies out there. Did you fall into a different sort of film entirely?
