Holed

HOLED UP
You and whoever replies to you are stuck together after falling in a hole.
You're in a deep, dark pit that you can't climb out of easily, and you're trapped together. Maybe it was a trapping pit, maybe it was an open manhole cover, maybe an uncovered well or elaborate secret trap in a spooky house - but whatever the cause was, you two fell for it. Literally.

Also, is there a setting you'd prefer? Old well? Basement in an old house?]]

I don't know if Earthside nonhumans exist in Helluvaboss and can end up in hell. That's mostly the type who'd want revenge on Leo. I'm okay with target or being a non-target. Maybe he was trailing Blitz? It would be funny if they both had some kind of protection that made it impossible to actually kill one another so they'd be forced to get bored and talk eventually.]]

So far so good.] ...thanks.
[A dry comment, spoken after she squints up at the space above them.] For assuming it's my fault. [Granted it could very easily be her patron's idea of funny joke.
She stands up and pats her pockets, coming up with a coin that has a single feather etched onto the surface.] I had a featherfall spell stored in this thing. Gone now. I'm guessing that's why we didn't die, but that only answers half of your question.

[ He and the dog have an understanding. If he cocks something up he can blame it on the dog who will cute his way out of trouble and get treats and scritches after. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement. ]
I do enjoy not being dead, so there's that at least.
[ Though on the subject of the Dog, he might be the party's best bet at finding them if they can't find a way back up. ]
...Sorry.
[ He squints. ]
I'm trying to remember where we were and put a face on where that would be down here.

The earth is cracked all over the Shadowlands. I'm guessing we slipped, or got pushed by one of the shadows. The last thing I remember is leaving the Last Light to look for Rolan. Gods, I hope the others found him.
I...don't have your darkvision. Do you have a torch on you?

Which is why Spock finds himself in a large, metal-walled hole with the captain.
Cautiously, he pokes at one of the rivets holding the towering walls together. Sturdy, without a hint of rust. His tricorder beeps and he glances at it, reviewing the data from its newly finished analysis. The metal is an alloy of some unknown substance too thick for their phasers to have any effect, even if they had a hope of the ground beyond being anything but solid dirt.
Spock doesn't sigh, but he does tip his head back to look up at the yellowish sky above them. Then he looks back down and turns to the captain. ]
It is truly remarkable that we find ourselves in this situation once again.

most being key, as they're stuck in a metallic pit together today and it's, as truer words have never been spoken by his half-vulcan commander, not the first time it's happened.
his mouth twists slightly as he watches spock with the tricorder: there's no point in jim doing the same, they'll get the same answer. instead he takes to looking for any visual distinctions between other parts, circling the pit itself as he does. a little like a caged animal, but he doesn't realize he looks like that.
finally, over his shoulder: ]
A near-infinite universe full of near-infinite possibilities and here we are stuck in a hole again, Spock.
[ jim is also focusing on a rivet, but he looks like he's trying to decipher tooling marks on it instead. ]
This place is really clean for how it looks like it was riveted together manually, huh? By which I mean does it look put together older than it is or is it that well-maintained?
[ how long before the people that made a pit like this show up and should they be worried about it? ]

ahem now hopefully in the right place
...and yet, the sheer lack of expression on Spock's face somehow proves beyond a doubt that this very set of circumstances has been recreated time and time again.]
Dr. McCoy will be disappointed to learn our latest experiment has resulted in yet another failure.

[ jim is resourceful. he's smart. he's a fucking genius, for christ's sake. spock's even smarter than he is.
they're still in a hole on a nothing planet and they're by themselves but hey, at least they have properly working trackers this time so it's not like the last time when they were stuck for a couple of days because the ship's computers kept telling everyone they were dead and/or just nonexistent. that was fun.
jim taps the side of the pit they've found themselves in with his knuckles. solid rock but not smooth; pockmarked and jagged in places. hm. ]
You think Bones'll call me some kind of skittering, climbing animal if I scale this wall and he finds out?
