Some insist that love at first sight is real. Others argue that it can’t exist. We’re not here to make either argument, we simply want to know what you believe.
RULES ○ As with many of the memes here, we request that you don’t leave a blank top level. ○ Your starter should fit into the premise that someone has asked your character if they believe in love at first sight, and why or why not. No other limits, though! Any specific direction is yours to take. Get weird with it, if you wanna. ○ Now we open the debate floor. Everyone’s got an opinion. If they disagree, they’ll let you ladies and gentlemen now.
[Maybe there's something wrong with him. His one flirtation with infatuation was closer to Limbo than Heaven.]
Right now, it's chasing down the governor's office. And work. There's plenty of satisfaction in law for someone like me. Always has been. What about you? You don't strike me as someone who'd tolerate the confines of an office for long.
I can appreciate a man who works hard. It always pays off in the end, for him, for little old me...
[ Maybe there's something wrong with the both of them. When Heaven has no draw, and Eloisa tilts her head at him with something resembling interest. ]
I, on the other hand, play hard. I'm an actress; my kind dress up and pretend to be someone else for the night, and we get paid for the fun we have while doing it.
Love that you just go for it and say the quiet part out loud.
[Grasping he understands completely, transactional relations. How anybody does it any other way is when it's all Greek. He's amused, not the easiest thing to do.]
It's funny, you don't hear that too much, actors calling work play. Most of the ones I've heard lean heavily on the effort. Maybe they don't want the rest of us resenting them so much we boycott a project.
[His once over is more assessing than anything else.]
Stage, film, or television? Primarily. I know there's a lot of crossover sometimes.
The truth is, you all love to hate us either way, so we might as well enjoy ourselves while we're at it.
[ Sending him a wide, wholly charming smile, she catches that look and doesn't take offense, you don't keep anything hidden from the eyes of the law. ]
Only stage. I like to walk in the sacred footsteps of the Greek muses.
[ Horsefeathers! She simply hasn't found anyone to help her get a foot inside a film project yet. ]
Hey, now, the right actor in the right place at the right time? Great PR. What's not to love about that?
[And the wrong actor working for the other side... Totally different story.]
Lofty.
[He lifts and lowers his brows briefly.]
Your favorite role? Keep in mind, you're talking to a plebe. We don't get too cultured in my neck of the woods, and when I was in Boston I was too busy studying for taking in the night life. I may not have heard of it.
That's lust, not love. Love takes time and effort. You may think it's love, maybe you even "feel it". But that's all lies you tell yourself. Ask them out, ask questions and spend time with them. Then you'll know if it's more. Take them for a test ride if you want, I don't judge. Just be damn careful. If things go south, a broken heart is the least of your troubles.
…maybe it’s real for some people, but maybe that’s not a good thing, either.
There's hardly even such a thing as love at the 150th sight. Lust on the other hand.

[Hello, fellow cynic.]

Caro, far be it from me to speak ill of lust, but it doesn't last longer than you can shake your pretty fist at it.

[He casts his hands out in his shrug.]
Infatuation is, too. Home grown high. I think maybe that's the appeal for most.

[ A melodramatic sigh. She looks him up and down. ]
How does a suit like you, chéri, make mortal life palatable, hmm? When you're not sweet on some girl or other.

Without even knowing how they fight first? No. That's stupid and *totally* lame.

Dunno that I've ever felt that. Wouldn't remember even if I had. Def' not since waking up for the 'first time'.
But that doesn't mean it's not real! The galaxy is a biiiig place. I'm sure some people know just what they want from it, and when they see it.
