THE FLOWER MEME

❧ leave a comment with your characters name and canon in the header, as well as any preferences you may or may not have.

❧ your character is walking through a strange garden for some reason - don't the flowers smell lovely? or maybe they don't. strangely enough, whether you mean for them to or not, these flowers and plants seem to have something strange about them...something that's affecting you.

❧ repliers roll the RNG from 1-20, or pick a number below to decide how your character has been affected by the flowers! whether they are still at the garden or the affects of the flowers have lasted on them throughout their day are up to you. whether both the tagger and the tag-ee would both like to roll is up to you both as well.

❧ pimp and ye shall receiveth tags.

⑴ Fern (Sincerity) ~you feel like bearing your all to whoever you talk to- no matter how embarrassing or scandalous those true feelings of yours are.

⑵ Buttercup (Cheerfulness; childishness) ~you're feeling like a kid again! all you want to do is play a game or two, or even just go out for ice cream. no adult feelings here. did we mention girls (or boys) have cooties? eww!

⑶ Juniper (Protection) ~you feel like a knight in shining armour - all you want to do is protect someone dear to you... even if you've never met them before!

⑷ Sunflower (Loyalty) ~you suddenly feel intensely loyal to whoever you're speaking to. whatever this means exactly depends on the people involved...

⑸ Viscaria (Will you dance with me?) ~self-explanatory. whoever is near you, you suddenly want to dance with them. hope you don't have two left feet!

⑹ Marigold (Grief) ~whether it be new or old, you feel the need to grieve the loss of something or someone. hopefully someone around you can comfort you.

⑺ Foxglove (Insincerity) ~you feel the need to lie, about everything. good and bad.

⑻ Aster (Love; daintiness) ~whoever it is you're with, you love them. your feelings are pure though- can't you just hold hands? kisses only have to be chaste, right? maybe you can go for a walk in the sunset, or see a movie?

⑼ Cyclamen (Resignation; goodbye) ~it's finally time for goodbye. you've known it for awhile now, and you're finally willing to accept it.

⑽ Edelweiss (Daring) ~you're feeling daring today- maybe you'll do a bit of singing, or finally confess? the possibilities are endless!

⑾ Ice Plant (Your looks freeze me) ~whoever this person is, they're making you tongue-tied and nervous. it's hard to even think!

⑿ Azalea (Fragile passion) ~you want them. but you also want to be careful- treating them like glass is on your mind.

⒀ Coriander (Lust) ~you want them and you don't care where or why- you want to indulge.

⒁ Dahlia (Good taste; instability) ~they look perfect in every way; you don't want to share them with anyone else.

⒂ Mistletoe (Kiss me) ~you only want one- but it doesn't have to stop there.


⒃ Grass (Submission) ~you want to make them submit to you...or maybe it's you who wants to do the submitting?

⒄ Rose (I love you) ~the three little words that hold a lot of meaning for some people. hopefully you don't get rejected.

⒅ Oleander (Caution; beware) ~you're feeling a little...dangerous today. people would do well to stay way- or maybe they'd like a little danger? either way you're not to eager to let them go any time soon.

⒆ Dandelion (Wishes come true) ~how'd this little weed get in here? it's nice to see something have such a will to live, even in the cracks of the cobblestone...maybe it'll share it's good luck with you? you can have anything you'd like today! you can consider this the wild card option as well to pick anything you'd like from the list (or anything not on the list!).

⒇ Wait what? (???) ~did that plant...move? it seems pretty affectionate...

I dunno. There are already some weird things here I haven't seen anywhere else. [like that creepy petunia...]

I don't study botany, but I could probably identify some of the more distinctive flowers here...

Really? All I know are things like roses and daffodils. [he laughs a little] Not really interested in plants anyway. But you're always reading, so it figures you'd know more.

Of course. If I were a lady of a traditional house, I would even have to learn flower arrangement and languages.

... But I think they look nicer out in a place like this.

Flower...languages? [Barry stares at her a little blankly.] You can speak flower? I'm not sure what that's about, but they do look nice in fields and stuff.

No, it's... different species have different meanings. For instance, it would be improper to give red roses to someone you think of as simply a friend, right?

Oh. Right. [he knew that, he totally did!] I haven't really given flowers to anyone, so I wouldn't know. I just kind of like 'em by color.

That's straightforward of you.

[ nah it's cool, not like she's ever given them either 8D though she stops to admire an aster and pick up a flower that fell to the ground. ]

Oh, thanks.... [he's not sure how to respond to that, because how else do you like flowers? Besides smell, but...]

But it wouldn't be proper to say. Perhaps you should do some research.

Awww! That's no fun, Platina, making me study! [his frown is closer to a pout] Like there's books on that kinda stuff out here anyway!

I'll help you with it! You can think of it as practice, if you ever give someone flowers in the future.

...wouldn't it be easier to just tell me what it is, then? Because I'll remember what it looks like. [he's a little perplexed, staring down at the flower and frowning.] I dunno how else you can teach me.

I'll give it to you for safekeeping. And I'm not sure about the species, but it should be in the asteraceae family.

[ that should be specific enough?! she tucks the aster to Barry's lapel. there, now you look classy enough to accompany a lady on a flower walk! ]

As-astra-um. [he huffs, not really getting the pronunciation] Well, okay, but--oh! [he picks another blossom, before reaching up and tucking it into Platina's hair.] There! Now you have one too.

It's 'as-ter-acy'...

[ she blinks, then just smiles and gives barry's hand a light squeeze. well it'll definitely be fun to see his reaction to the flower meaning~ ]

As-ter-acy [he repeats the word, nodding.] Yeah, okay, got it!

And you're welcome! [he beams, taking the hand squeeze as a sign she liked it. It's a good thing he's oblivious ] Figured you'd look nice with one.

'Course. [he glances around quickly, before moving like he's going to run before remembering Platina's still with him and he stutters for a second and falls into a walking stride] Somewhere you want to go in particular? I think I saw a lake or something earlier.

[ oh guy. she lets herself be jerked forward slightly with a surprised sound, but quickly regains a ladylike composure 8| ]

A lake? Of course we could investigate. Do you remember where it was?

Sorry! [he winces a bit, never quite able to reign in his exuberance] Uh. Yeah, sure do! [he will start walking in a general that-a-way direction, because he's pretty sure it's over there. Totally. At least 75% sure.]

[ it's all good! she'll follow along, picking up the pace to keep up while keeping their hands linked. anyway the garden seems to be thinning so that's promising! ]

So, what kind of flowers do you like best? Besides these...pink ones. [he gestures to the one on the lapel.] As-ter-acy or whatever. [he's...really kind of unsure what girls like to talk about in the first place and Platina's always reading, so it might be stuff over his head.]

I don't think I have a preference. Like I said, plants aren't my field of study.
