The Abrupt Kissing Meme

Plain and simple: your character is being kissed. Abruptly. How did this happen? Were they talking too much to the point where it was the only way to shut them up? Was someone bidding adieu or just not able to hold in their feelings? Or was this some CPR class gone bad? More importantly—how do they react?

How this works:
→ Leave a comment with the usual information in the subject line: character name, fandom. Any preferences, including what you don't want, should be included as well. Congratulations, your character is being kissed by whoever tags them!
→ Tag around.
→ Feel free to roll RNG (1-9) if you cannot come up with scenarios of your own.

[Whoops is that Genesis? Is that his mentor's best friend, who (rumors say) got up to some... highly questionable activities with Angeal, and apparently in the presence of the Silver General himself? Zack's heard all the rumors -- thank you Kunsel -- and he's thinking maybe he should just change his destination and find somewhere else to be.

Of course that's kind of hard in an elevator, but it's the thought that counts.]

[And Genesis notices that there's a certain someone staring at him. And ooh, isn't this his best friend's student? He must have heard the rumors... which aren't really rumors. They were the truth.]

Something caught your attention, Zack the puppy?

[Oh, had he been staring? Oops. Way to go Fair, real smooth. Zack's eyes find the safety of the button panel, the illuminated display clicking through the floors as the metal box ascended.]

No. [And a bit belatedly:] Sir.

[At that, Genesis smirks.]

Have you heard the rumors regarding your mentor and I?

Rumors, sir?

[This is some sort of a test right? Surely Genesis isn't-- No, there's no way they're having this conversation, this is a test because this is Genesis, and the man is well known for the way he plays with others.]

I've been picking up a little hearsay around the building-- a little story of Angeal and I up to no good right where Sephiroth was.

Did you hear about that?

[The smirk doesn't leave Genesis' lips, and he's quite glad that their destination on the elevator would still take a bit of a while to get to.]

Oh?

[Zack plasters a confused look on his face. It's not hard; while he has heard the rumor, he still has no clue why Genesis should want to talk about it. With him.] Should I have, sir?

Well, if you didn't hear it, you must be either deaf or so noble that your mind automatically blocks any mention of your superiors doing dirty deeds.

[at that, he sidles closer to the younger SOLDIER.]

That's quite a feat.

Perhaps I simply don't believe lies about two respected superior officers.

[He could back away -- should, probably -- but it's an elevator, there's nowhere to really go. So Zack stands his ground, refusing to be intimidated.]

Sir.

So, Fair, how do you tell that a rumor is certainly a lie?

[Genesis is practically behind the other man now and could easily put his hands on his shoulders if he wanted.]

[Because if this particular rumor is true, then how does Angeal explain honor--

No, Zack is not letting his thoughts tread that path. Instead he's going to do his best to ignore the tension building at the base of his spine. This is just another test, it has to be. Just another test, just Genesis toying with what he thinks is an easy victim.]

May I ask the reasoning behind this line of questioning sir?

[For a puppy, he is pretty sharp. That's good. Genesis' smirk grows a little.]

I simply wanted to get a feel for how you are as a person, Fair. While my best friend is your mentor, I don't know much about you save for some stories.

You've chosen a strange line of questioning to do so.

[It's a line of questioning that Zack doesn't like at all, but he's not going to let Genesis know that. It seems a bit too personal, a bit too unprofessional to him.</small.]

Hm. Think it's a little too prying?

[Genesis wasn't exactly as detached as his peers were. No, not when he had been finding it harder lately to keep a rein on his impulsiveness and temper. His eyes are on the elevator lights, and it seems that he's almost at his destination.]

Let me tell you something, Fair...

[He moves so he's right next to Zack now.]

I'm nowhere near as noble as the others.

[With a dark smirk, he leans in to kiss him abruptly and roughly just as the elevator comes to a stop. And he pulls away just as the doors open.]

With all due respect, sir, asking for my opinion on rumors is hardly 'getting a feel for me.'

[Genesis is definitely playing with him. There's no other explanation. And it's odd enough that Zack knows the first thing he's going to do is talk to Angeal about it. He knows Angeal has to have an explanation for all of this...

...right?

But then Genesis is moving, and Zack's eyes flick from the elevator display to the redhead in just enough time to widen in surprise as he's kissed. It's heated and it's rough -- almost passionate -- and it's over much too quickly for him to react in any way to it. (And how would he have reacted? Pushed Genesis away? Pulled him in? Zack doesn't know, and that bothers him too.)

Maybe... Maybe he shouldn't mention anything to Angeal after all...]

I'll see you around, Zack the Puppy.

[And as he walks out the elevator doors, he watches the younger man with that oh-so-confident smirk on his lips. The SOLDIER is very free to come follow, pursue him even, ask him why he did such a thing. But Genesis isn't expecting anything. He's quite content about doing that to the younger man. He had always been curious to how he tasted.]

[As much as he'd been surprised by the kiss, he is not surprised at all by the way Genesis saunters out of the elevator. That part he knows is typical of the red-clad man; Genesis is nothing if not dramatic. And there is a small comfort in that, because dramatic Genesis is at least somewhat normal (for as little as he really knows the man, at least), and Zack can definitely deal with normal.]

No, sir. [Zack answers with a smirk of his own; for all he's confused, he's at least certain of this one thing, and that certainty gives him the bravado and courage to toss words -- and a challenge -- right back at Genesis.] You won't.

[When he hears that, Genesis stops for a moment. And then he laughs.]

We'll see about that.

[Who knows. Chances are, fate could simply conspire to put them in the same space once again.]

Heh.

[Zack manages to hold the smirk until the elevator doors close, then melts against the sidewall of the car. Man, he is so glad this whole thing is over.

Glad enough that he misses his floor, oops.]
