The Time Travel Meme

Have you ever wanted your characters to go see the dinosaurs, or be part of the Time Patrol, or go find their True Love in a different era? Or maybe play out the Back To The Future scenario, and have to go and save their parent's marriage?Here is your chance!



[How To]

1. Post as your character. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc. Please also write down preferences, scenarios, etc in the comment box)

2. Another character tags yours. Congrats, now your character is either time traveling, or dealing with a time traveler! (Having both characters be time travelers is fine, too.)

3. Thread, tag and have fun!

[How The Multiverse Works]

1. Time Paradox What Time Paradox? : It's impossible to change history, the only thing that would happen if you went and killed your grandfather is that a new Timeline in which your grandfather was killed would branch off from the original one. The good thing - You can't mess your own Timeline's history up, while you can try to create new Timelines in which things go more to your liking. On the other hand, you can't fix your own history,either.

2. Yes, You Can Change History : And if you mess things up, things wouldn't be pretty.

3. Something Else

1. To Make Right What Once Went Wrong - At a certain point in their past, things went really wrong for them. Can they make things better, this time around?

2. The Road Not Traveled - Now they have a chance to do something different, and steer their lives, and maybe the world, along a different path...

3. Saving The World - The world was heading toward hell in a handbasket in their 'previous life'. Can they make things better, this time around?

4. We Just Wanna Get Rich, Man - They just want to use their 'future knowledge' to make a ton of money, and/or get popular and famous, etc, etc.

5. We Are The Time Tourists - So you want to go see the dinosaurs, or the mammoths, or any other historical event? The choices are endless...

6. We Are The Time Patrol - And we don't want unauthorized people muckling around with the timelines, either!

7. On To The Future - Never mind going to the past, we want to go to the future. Those descendants of ours had better not mucked everything up...

8. Honey, I Think I Broke History - You went back into the past, and history changed - and not in the ways you'd consider good. What do you do now?

The time machine was really not something Lyall expected to work, but since it did-- and since Lefoux had wound up getting herself killed in the process of trying to get the second model of the machine back from thieves-- it felt to the former London pack Beta to track the thing down. He at least knew a little bit about the way it functioned, and though all he could do was guess from the attuned frequencies with the other machine when it had gone, he could at least wind up close to the same time.

The heavy aethographer-like box shook as he activated the dials, setting them for almsot fifty years in the future, and what he hoped would be an out of the way place.

The lobby of a 1920s hotel was not really what he had in mind. He poked his nose out. At least it was the middle of the night... maybe he wouldn't be noticed until he could roll the bloody thing somewhere out of the way.

((he's jumping into her time. he's, er, a werewolf Doctor Who maybe? XD ))

Unfortunately for him, Evie had sneaked out of the hotel where she and her uncle lived to go to one of those delightfully illegal speakeasies that were all the rage with the young crowd, and now she was sneaking back in. Sneaking in to see a strange contraption smack dab in the lobby when it hadn't been there when she'd left.

"Hot socks!" It was an exclamation, but said softly enough so as not to bring anybody from their rooms. Evie slowly began to walk around the thing, inspecting it with interest.

And the door to the large, boxlike chamber popped open right in her face. Quite on accident, of course. Lyall poked his head out, looking around, and immediately caught her scent. Damn.

He peeked around the door, looking for her and just how frightened she might be. ... then again, the smell didn't seem very frightened, did it? "Pardon me...."

Evie leapt back with with a startled cry at the swinging door. What was this thing, anyway?

"You could give a girl a little warning!" she scolded, twisting her string of pearls around one hand a little nervously. "Say, what is this thing anyway?

[professorwolf]

Wincing, both at having startled someone and at there being someone there to startle, Lyall stepped out entirely, doffing his hat. "I'm sorry, ma'am. I was hoping this room would be empty...."

He didn't answer her question immediately, not sure just how much he ought to tell someone from another time. A future time, of course, where there was no past to ruin... but still. He asked first, instead, "Is there somewhere in this building, or nearby, where I can... ah... roll this?" The chamber did, indeed, have little wheels on the bottom.

"Usually is, this time of night." Evie had to smile to herself at the thought. She was young, and Manhattan at night was made for her crowd. Of course, there were a bunch of duds around sleeping the night away upstairs. What a waste!

"It depends on how long you're leaving it there. We could stash it in the dining room, but come morning, folks will be suspicious." And then a thought hit her. "Don't play me for a chump either. You never said what this thing is. You never know: maybe I'll be able to think up a better hiding spot if I know what I'm helping to hide."

[professorwolf]

He sighed a little, rubbed at the space on his nose just above his spectacles, and said, "It's a temporaethographic displacement modulator and tracking device. It needs to be somewhere that no one will fiddle with it, preferably." Of course, whether she could work out what any of that meant was entirely up in the air. But he did answer her question. Technically.

She stared at him like he was a loon, but she'd seen plenty of strange things lately, so she just sucked in a breath.

"We could stick it behind a stack of crates in the alley out back. What are you using it to track, anyway?" Amazingly, she did understand some of that jargon.

[professorwolf]

"Someone who stole its twin," Lyall answered more soberly. He turned back to the device and shut the door, pulling a key from his pocket to lock it again. It wasn't the sturdiest of locks, but then, who would have expected someone to get into Lefoux's workroom to pick it, anyway? "Show me where this alley is, if you please? I'll push if you lead."

"Right this way, then." She started walking back through the hotel's lobby, checking to make sure no one else was around to catch them. This felt like a fun secret mission she was undertaking here.

"You got a name to go with your impressive box?"

[professorwolf]

"I'm afraid it's not nearly as impressive," Lyall answered apologetically, starting to roll the heavy modulator after her. It probably wouldn't have gone, but for werewolf strength. At least he didn't have to worry about that. "Professor Randolph Lyall. Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I would offer you a proper leg but, well...."

They were both a bit occupied, at the moment.

After checking out the back door to make sure the alley was clear, she motioned him to bring the box forward.

"Evie O'Neill, your savior for the evening. And don't worry about the leg. I'm sure I can cook up plenty of ways for you to pay me back for my generous help."

[Oh look. Dean is having fun with time travel again.

More like Castiel has dropped him back in time for reasons yet to be determined, but odds are it's something important. Probably.

Regardless, he stands out more than a lot in his leather jacket, work boots and jeans, but he hasn't exactly had a place to stop off and change clothes yet. He doesn't even know what year it is.

[Evie's coming back to her uncle's museum (the Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult -- or the Museum of Creepy Crawlies for you uncivilized folk) from a shopping trip when she spots a looker up ahead on the street corner. Oh, what a Sheik! She pats the flower ribbon on her clouche hat and makes sure her hem is straight before she approaches.]

That's an interesting look you've got going on.

[Well hello there. Dean flashes her a smile before shrugging.]


Thought I'd try something new. See if I could set a trend.

And how! You're liable to catch the attention of everybody in that getup. Must be a foreign import.

[She tilts her head, thinking hard.]

Are you... Canadian? You're not European.

[hasperkynipples]

[So not Canadian.]

I'm from Kansas, actually.

Really?

[She wrinkles her nose. If only she knew that her very glamorous friend Theta was actually from Kansas too.]

Who knew Kansas could be so modern? Well, [She shrugs a shoulder, over it already,] Is this your first time in the Big Apple?

[hasperkynipples]

We are far more cutting edge than you would think.

[sort of. And oh hey -- that's where he is. Thanks sweetheart.]

Nah, I've been a few times for work.

Oh? And what do you do, if you don't mind me asking?

[She adds a little eyelash fluttering in to try and look like a dear, innocent thing, when really she's just being nosy.]

[hasperkynipples]

[Eyelash fluttering will get you everywhere.]

I do a little bit of everything.

[She's not sure whether he's being honest or is a common cad like someone she knows, because that's just what he'd say if it were him.]

I have a job. I'm headed back there now actually.

[Yes, it's a job where she can just take off in the middle of the day to go shopping. Helping out her uncle at the museum might not be considered a real job, especially since she isn't being paid, but she likes to think it is.]

Why don't you come with me? It's a museum and I'm sure you'd just love it.

[Since her uncle doesn't seem too interested in running the museum as a business, it's in danger of being closed, and if it's closed, she'll have to go back home to boring old Ohio, so she's determined to get some bodies through the door.]

[hasperkynipples]

[Dean isn't entirely sure what he's doing in New York, but he's going to consider this a sign.]

Sure. I love a good museum.

[She leads the way. It's not far, hence why she was walking instead of grabbing a cab.]
