Oh, thinking about our younger years ; there was only you and me, we were young and wild and free
![]() THE CHILDHOOD ѕωєєтнєαят MEME Ahhh, young love. Whether it's precious or bittersweet, it's something that stays with you. Remember that time...? Of course you do. Both of you thought you'd last forever. Or maybe you were too young to know what that meant. All that mattered was that you were kids and you were together. But time and circumstance tears even the best of friends and young lovers apart. That person, your childhood crush, your first love, is just a memory. Now, you're being given a second chance. Will it be painful? Will you confess everything and try to win their affection again? You've been reunited, and it's up to you what happens. HOW TO ① Comment with your character. You can state preferences and such in your subject. ② Characters who comment will be their childhood sweetheart/first love. The muns can figure out how that works, but when in doubt, just wing it. It's a meme. Fun is the goal here. ③ KISS AND REUNITE. Or argue and storm off. Or cry. Or laugh. Or sex. Whatever is appropriate. |

Very fond memories that he remembers with a smile on his face as he enters through the gates.
His leaving had been sudden, almost as if it hadn't been scheduled until just the morning of the announcement that he would be going to another place for an uncertain amount of time. He had no chance to explain, to say goodbye, immediately told to pack a bag and go. And he can't disobey any orders, no matter how much he wants to at times.
But now he's back and he's not even sure what's the first thing he should do. Perhaps some ice cream? Unfortunate for him, Traverse Town didn't hold his all time favorite like Radiant Garden did, so maybe.
It doesn't even occur to him that before he could do anything else, he would have to meet with the court and give a report, not until he'd been ordered to do so.
He'd get to see her again after all this time.
So now, after giving the report that's required of him, he awaits the next order. All the while refraining from letting his eyes wander too far to the left where he knows that she's sitting. But at least from the corner of his eyes, he can see her. Barely, but there's a view.
After getting dismissed and giving a salute, he turns to leave but not before finally taking a look at her.
Naminé. ]

That day still replays in her head even now.
One would think that after all this time, she would just get over it, it was bound to happen anyway with him being apart of the guard. She shouldn't be so torn up about it, but what hurt her more was that he didn't even say goodbye to her. As childish as it may sound, it was something that he wished he could have done.
Since then, she hasn't really done anything different, except maybe hold her composer better. Perhaps maturing would be a better word for it. She no longer did a lot of the things that she used to do those some years ago, and she took up a lot of the responsibilities as a princess that she used to dread doing.
She even drew less than she used to. Now that her schedule was busier, she didn't have much time to do her favorite things anymore.
But now, she wasn't expecting this. When she came to sit in for her father, she never in a million years would have thought that it would be him giving the report. That it would be him coming back from a long journey from home. Roxas.
After all this time, she finally knew what happened. Keeping her composer, it was hard not to just stare at him and ignore everything about the report.
When all is done, she gets up to leave, but catches his stare. Naminé looks away after a moment and continues with her previous action, leaving.]

Naminé..
[ His voice is quiet though and he's not even sure she would hear him, but he still brings a hand to his mouth after realizing what happened.
Does she even remember him after all this time? No doubt she's had to take up her own responsibilities around the castle, as the princess there's a lot more on her shoulders than it looks. That much is evident considering he hadn't given his report to the king directly.
But now, he didn't know what to do, whether she would even forgive him for leaving without notice. He hopes though, that they could get back the friendship between them. If not though, then they will forever be princess and guard, he would protect her and the city with his life while she carries on her duties. Nothing more, nothing less.
Roxas doesn't leave, not yet, not until he knows for sure what she wants. ]

But she has a job to do, she has to go and tell her father about the report, it was important information that he needed to have as soon as possible. Not only that, she had more tasks that needed to get done before the day was out.
On the other hand...it would be nice to just...talk to someone without having to deal with so much formality. Perhaps a small break wouldn't be so bad.
She makes no effort to turn around after her decision and she can only hope that he understands what she's saying.]
Roxas, I'd like for you to come with me to review the key points in your report so I can tell my father.

But now, she's acknowledged him beyond his station as a guard, a soldier for the city.
Even if her words sound like they're for official business, there are other hints in those words as well. An invitation to speak with her, to spend time with her, and maybe explain further his absence. Never mind that she knows why he left but he still feels the need to apologize, to tell her his regrets.
His shoulders drop the slight tension in his shoulders as he turns back around to face her and give her another salute. Despite her not seeing him, there are still formalities that need to be adhered to. ]
As you wish, your Highness.
[ A second's pause before he walks up to her, standing behind her, as is proper of his station. ]
Please lead the way.

Questions kept rolling through her mind that she wanted know this instant, but she felt something stopping her. Patience has long been thinned and now answers are much needed. For her sanity more than anything.
Maybe gradually going into the subject will get what she wants to know. Yes, trying that might be a good idea.]
How was your journey back?
[So much for gradual...]

But now, as he follows her, that distinction is clearer than ever.
However, he would do as she asks, try to answer anything she asks as best he can. All he can hope for is that there's a way to salvage their friendship, something he cherishes since they first met. All he can hope for is forgiveness. ]
Ah, it was.. well. Nothing eventful happened on the return trip so I was able to come back as scheduled.
[ His words still hold that tone of a soldier reporting to his superior, still not sure how else he should respond. Especially while they're out in the open. Maybe once they're in a place that wouldn't let rumors start flying around... ]
no subject
She plays with her hands for a bit, the fact that he's still talking to her with a soldier tone still bothers her. At least that never left...]
That's good. I'm...I'm glad that you had a safe trip.
[This could go a lot better if they weren't so out in the open. Thinking for a moment, she tries to find a place where they could actually talk and not have whispers. Suddenly the perfect place came to mind.]
I'd like to stop by the garden for a moment. All of this running around is tiring when you've been doing it all morning.
no subject
[ He should probably be more considerate of her, knowing that she most likely had been doing other things before having to hear his report like she did. It's hard to know that for sure since he hasn't been around in so long but he can tell from the way she carries herself, the slight undertone of tiredness in her voice and the look in her eyes. He knows that expression all too well, having seen it himself over the years on patrol.
But he still wants to talk to her, to apologize for his abrupt absence and to just make up for lost time. Even just a few minutes, go back to the way things used to be between them. It might be wishful thinking but, she wouldn't have asked him to go with her if she didn't want it either, right? ]
I wonder if they are still the same as I remember them.
[ Something casual yet could still be seen as curiosity about the castle and the grounds from a soldier having not seen it in so long. ]
Maybe we should ask someone to bring along tea. [ The words slip out easily, so easily when lost in memory and he almost falters in his steps when it finally registers. ] I mean, considering your weariness, I'm sure a cup could help some.
no subject
It felt...kind of nice.]
Tea sounds lovely, I'll send for someone to bring some once we get there.

A warmth spreads in his chest at the thought that he had been the one to get her to do that. And a remembrance of times before that they laughed together over the silliest things. Mostly at his expense since he had a bad tendency to mess up every once in a while but he didn't mind if it's only her.
Roxas smiles before realizing that he hasn't said anything in response to her. ]
O-oh, great! Sounds great.
[ And it really did because right now he could go for a cup to help him relax.
But unknown to him, he's already falling into old habits and that includes speaking so freely with her. ]
I miss the tea here. It just.. wasn't the same in the other town.
no subject
[She laughed a little bit more at her own joke, it felt so nice to lighten up and not feel so tense and serious. She was starting to get to the point where she just didn't feel like herself anymore. But now that he's back, she feels like she's finally returning to normal.]
The garden is different though, my father put a few things there to make it more "lively" as he would put it.
no subject
[ His voice is light, a touch of laughter in his words as he tries to imagine just what kind of things could possibly be there to make the garden different. But more than anything, the tension from his shoulders is easing with each step they take towards a place that used to be so familiar to the both of them. Well, more for her than him, considering all things but the idea is there.
It's almost like it was just yesterday that they'd been doing this, walking together and talking without too many worries. He misses this familiarity. ]
I won't need to fight anything, will I.
no subject
[Smiling again was a nice touch on things, especially being in such a light mood. She can already tell that things are going to get much more livelier now that she has someone that she can talk to.]
There's a fountain now and some odd little statues here and there. But everything else is still the same as always, even the gardeners.
no subject
[ It's been some time, a long time really, since he's been able to talk like this. So freely without having to keep up pretenses, and surprisingly it's only ever with her, someone who he should always keep up pretenses with. Sure he has his friends within the guard but. With Naminé it's always been different. She's been a constant friend for him, always willing to listen and he does his best to be there for her.
The air isn't as awkward anymore and though he knows that they'll eventually have to talk about his sudden departure, he wants to keep this as long as he can. ]
But it's.. nice. To hear that some things are still the same when other things changed.
[ Probably an underlying message there, referencing to not only the castle, but to her as well. ]
no subject
[She caught onto what he was saying. Naminé knows that she's changed a lot, it's probably showing in little bits. But she'll always be the one to listen to what he has to say, no matter what. Just like she's hoping for when they get to the garden.
In fact, she'll be getting the answers she wants in just a moment. She stops at the gates to the garden and turns around to smile at him.]
Shall we?
no subject
Yeah, let's go.
[ Once they reach a good spot, he's not even sure where to start, scratching the back of his head. ]
So um... I, er...
[ Nervous laugh. ]
Where to even begin..
no subject
Why didn't you say good-bye?
no subject
There was just.. no time to. The captain gave me orders to leave immediately. [ pause ] But, I really did want to see you before I left.
no subject
You...could have written a note...or even sent a letter!
no subject
[ There's some hesitation in his voice as he remembers all those times he really did want to send some kind of notice to her, to tell her that he's alright and apologize. So many times he'd been close to picking up a piece of parchment and sending a message. So many times he wanted to forget the protocols but in the end, he didn't want to endanger anything, especially her. ]
Covert operations won't allow for any communications for fear of risking not only my safety but others as well.
I just... couldn't do it, knowing that it might get you in danger.
