The Roommates Meme

Living with other people can be rough; you have to put up with their personality quirks, habits and schedules. You never really know how well you get along until you give it a go.

Possible scenarios: by no means an exhaustive list
•It’s 8 in the morning, and you have somewhere to be like 5 minutes ago. How are they still using the washroom? Hopefully there’s still hot water left.

•There are dishes piled up in the sink. But at least your roommate makes you lunch and does the grocery shopping.

•Have you seen my keys/homework/item of choice?

•If you need to borrow something, ask. Or not, you don't need permission.

•Movie night, introductions to new shows and entertainment, and fights over the remote. What even is on at this time of night?

•Quiet down, some people are trying to sleep! It’s too late/early.

•There’s people over? I didn’t know/forgot/what did I just walk in on?

I don't think this has been done before, but if it has, let me know.

so an angel and a vampire somehow become roommates...

[ It may have been relatively 'early' for most people...but Hal hadn't even seen the newest resident of Honolulu Heights sleep at all. It was quite possible she was a ghost. He err'd on the side of caution when it came to discussing supernatural business nevertheless as he followed along with his rota exactly.

Right now for about an hour it was watching a television program that Leo had liked to watch from time to time while he was...there. He shifted in place for a brief moment when he felt someone else in the room, but remained in place.

It was his television time anyway.

and it was grand and no one ever questioned the logic ever

[ She tries to keep something of a normal schedule. She gets up in the morning, makes food, heads out for the day. Comes back in the evening, cooks again, and then just....wastes time until morning. It's a boring existence, a quiet one, and Anna couldn't be more grateful for that.

It's a bit bizarre getting used to sharing a living space with someone though. Honestly Anna's been too focused on watching for any signs of angelic activity to notice anything on the weird side about the person sharing said living space. That's why she doesn't try too hard at putting up a good front with him. She's not going to schedule her 'sleeping' around a normal time, because surely he's not going to notice anyway, right?
]

So what's on? [ She doesn't wait long between announcing her presence and dropping down onto the couch, arms folded over her chest as she looks at the TV. Hope you don't find talking during a show annoying, Hal, because that's exactly what she's about to do. ]

of COURSE not...who questions this logic? certainly not i

[ It was the same with Hal in some aspects...it wasn't difficult for him to settle into things that people would expect their roommates to do. Other than the excessive cleaning and avoiding everyone when he had the chance. He figured everyone knew most of the contents of his rota at this point that they didn't ask about the 310 sit-ups he would routinely do in his room. The push-ups. The biking. Radio 4. The list went on and he was not embarrassed with it. It was his anchor.

Even sitting here watching mindless television was his anchor. He had hardly encouraged Anna's presence when she came to sit next to him until she opened her mouth.

Oh.
] A version of antique roadshow. [ He mumbled it a little, distracted before looking over to her. ] Is there something I could help you with?

ANNA IS THE GREATEST HOUSEMATE EVER

[personal profile] afallenstar 2013-01-12 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no. I'm fine. [ Anna settles comfortably into her position on the couch, and for all of five minutes she actually is silent. She doesn't really understand the appeal behind the show, though, and had apparently managed to miss the fact that Hal is interested in watching it.

After a reshuffle of her seated position, bringing her feet up on the couch and pulling her legs up to her chest, and then a soft sigh, she turns to look at Hal again.
] So why is she buying that then? It's obviously a fake.

[ Anna is good at playing normal, yes, but she clearly misses the mark on some of the more subtle of human habits. It's hard to remember all of the details of twenty odd years when she's got several millennia of memories clouding her thoughts. ]
