Body Heat
THE BODY HEAT MEME

Post with your character! They're now stuck in a very cold place of your choice. It can be anything, such as a freezing chamber, a cavern or a small cabin in the midst of a blizzard. The choice is up to you.
Comment around! Now your character has some company in this bone-chilling environment. The two of them share two things in common: clothes completely unfitting for this weather (be they summer clothes or even lingerie) and a blanket.
A blanket? Yes, just one warm blanket and no other ways to escape the cold. The two of them will have to share it in order to stay alive in this weather. Don't worry, you're sure to find a common language in this terrible situation!
So, uh, have fun, I suppose. Try to not freeze to death!
Protip: friction and body heat are both excellent ways to fend off cold.

[While unable to see all this going on outside, Dezel is able to sense the weather patterns through the sounds around the house. And while it's cold as hell out there, it's livable inside and even better in the large bed where he's already gotten comfortable for the night. With a sheet, thick blanket and padded quilt over top of everything, he's good and warm, even just wearing a bear minimum of loose clothing in the form of a shirt and shorts.]
[He could probably get to sleep right then and there, as comfortable as he is, but no. The seraph will lay there waiting on his partner to join him. It may be a little too cold for their usual rowdy fooling around, but that doesn't mean they can't get a little cuddle time in before sleep claims them for the night. In the meantime, he lays on his side facing the window, head propped up on one hand and bent elbow with his eyes closed while he listens to the sounds of the storm outside.]

[Their controller, though... Loathe as she is to face the even cooler air of the bathroom, the idea of snuggling up to her seraph lures Rose from the tub and she hurries to dry off before her teeth can start chattering too badly. A hasty job, sure, but it'll do for now. On goes her slippers- a pair of strange normin-headed things gifted to her by Edna as a prank that she ended up loving- followed by one of Dezel's shirts (large enough to double as a skirt) and then a robe. A quick twist keeps her towel in place over her hair as she darts into the adjoining room and leaps onto the bed, bouncing once.]
Lemme under there! It's friggin' cold!
[Thankfully Rose doesn't either land on Dezel or slam into his backside this time, though she might end up jabbing him with a foot as she worms her way under the covers since the temperature has her shivering already. For now the slippers are staying on no matter how much he protests.]
no subject
Ungh, Rose... Watch your feet. And you're still damp, aren't you?
[Damp and shivering, apparently. Adjusting his position once he's turned to face her, Dezel gets one arm up to help pull the blankets over his partner so she can get settled.]
no subject
[If he's going to complain about having company then next time she'll make sure to jump harder so he goes flying off the bed. For now, though, Rose simply blows off his whines by yanking the blanket up over both their heads to keep the heat. Her smaller form quivers from head to covered toes as she inches closer, burying her face in Dezel's chest. And so not inhaling deeper just to enjoy the way he smells. That's just the cold bothering her!]
And of course I'm still wet. You didn't think I was going to stay in there and freeze my ass off, did you?
[As though to illustrate her point, Rose wraps a damp leg around one of his, rubbing vigorously to try warming herself. It's not as effective as using a towel, but it's much more fun.]
no subject
You could've dried off a little more before--ARGH!
[Dezel goes ridged a second, a shiver running through him as Rose rubs one cold leg up against his. Instinctively, he curls up a bit more, trying to minimize the space they're occupying so that it traps in their body heat a little faster. Regardless of his low mutterings about the cold, however, he still gets an arm around Rose under the covers and draws her in as close as possible.]
Huh, I see you've been filching my clothes, too.
no subject
Heh... They're comfy. [Along with giving her a sense that he's always nearby, but like hell she'll put it that way.] Not like you mind, right?
[Rose chooses that exact moment to slip one foot free of its warm constraints and press her toes on the first patch of dark bare skin she can find: his ankle. Whether she's still trying to actually warm up or is just cutting off any potential gripes is anyone's guess. And Dezel's guess, knowing her as well as he does, is probably right. She peeks up at him with the faintest hint of mischief in her eyes, sliding one arm under his so it's more like a proper hug.]
...though I could go change, if you really want me to.
no subject
I mind just enough that if it wasn't so damn cold, I'd take my shirt back right now.
[There's a note of actual mischief to the seraph's tone, one hand moving to rub at her back a moment before tugging a little at the fabric of her borrowed garment. The implication being, of course, that he actually cares less about the clothes theft and more about having Rose in less clothing while in bed, period.]
[His leg does jerk a bit at the press of her cold toes to his ankle, however, Dezel rumbling quietly as he shifts to get his legs entangled with hers.]
Don't want you getting out of bed now, though. That'll just let the heat out from under the blankets.
no subject
[Apparently Dezel's not the only playful one tonight, going by her smirk. Although to be fair, Rose's... uh, state of undress is more an indication of her dislike for the cold than a preference for getting a piece of seraphim ass. She'd been in a hurry, okay. Not that she'd ever say no to a romp if it suited them both. They may need another bath after the fact, but gods it was worth it every time.]
[But if anything were to give Rose pause before having her way with him, it'd be Dezel's warmth... Just having their currently exposed skin pressed together is enough to draw a content sigh from her. Without a steady flow of cold air, she's finally stopped shivering and presses an ear against his chest so she can listen to his heartbeat instead of her teeth chattering.]
Hey... If the clothes you wear become invisible to normal people, does that mean they wouldn't see your shirt on me?
[Her fingers dance up Dezel's backside to tug at the hem of his shirt as she's careful to avoid putting her icy hands on him. See? She can be nice!]
no subject
Well, it is my shirt...
[Not that he will take it from her, even if the two of them are warming up nicely now, pressed in close together. As Rose leans her head against his chest, his fingers slide up her back to find the base of her neck, rubbing slowly and gently from there up to her hairline in back.]
Yeah, so don't ever go out wearing anything of mine. You'll end up giving people on the street a free show and then I'll probably have to kick more than a few asses.
[He's not really joking about that, either. Dezel is the viciously jealous type and he knows it, not the sort to handle anyone looking too closely and longingly at the person he's claimed as his.]
no subject
[Because that is something she'd pay good money to see. Dezel and his toned thighs shoved into her white fitted pants so the fabric would hug every inch of him, showing off all the right curves... There's no wrong ones on him, of that she's sure. The thought alone is worth a grin, and Rose might have snickered had his kneading not made the noise in her throat dissipate into a kind of purr.]
Mmm... But maybe I'd like to see to see you get all riled up. Some of your best expressions come out when you're fighting.
[Like hell she'd ever give anyone besides Dezel a show, however, her heart would soar at the reminder of just how much she means to him. It wasn't that she ever felt unloved as part of the Windriders in all its incarnations -far from it- but the love given by her seraph is a special, different kind. One she can't help treasuring above all else at moments like this.]
no subject
[...which honestly makes it sound like an invitation to steal his pants. Or okay, it really isn't, but he needs to remember who he's talking to, here.]
[Anyway, regarding that interest of his in what's under the clothes rather than the clothes themselves... Well, his roving hand continues to prove that to be the case. His fingers linger at the back of Rose's neck a moment longer before slipping lower again, seeking to get up under the bottom edge of the "stolen" garment. Apparently the intent there is in providing a nice back massage with nothing in the way.]
Like being reminded that you bed down at night with a beast, huh? One that isn't interested in sharing.
no subject
If you want the truth... Yes. Yes, I do. There's few things I like better than your animalistic side.
[Though she's hard-pressed to name any others right now. And just in case he's thinking about being a smartass and asking, Rose leans forward so her chest is pressed against his, allowing her to nip at his chin. Enjoy the sensation of being poked by her hard nipples, Dezel. There's no getting around that aspect of being a cold, tiny human.]
Maybe we should even things out, here. It's not fair that you're more dressed than I am.
no subject
Guess I am a little overdressed...
[With some reluctance, he eases Rose back enough to get a hold of his own shirt and pull it up over his head, wriggling about a bit beneath his lover while he works it off. Upper body fully exposed, he then tosses the garment over the side of the bed to the floor before settling back again.]
Better?
no subject
A bit. I'd rather you kept the shirt and lost the shorts, but it'll do.
[He'll hear no complaints about the chance for Rose to dip down and tickle his contrasting skin using both fingertips and breath as she reverently rubs a cheek over his chest. While there she lingers, compelled by the steady if somewhat fast beat of Dezel's heart to let her eyes close. ...he's here. He's alive and he's here and he's hers. One arm finds its way around his torso so she can pull herself flush against his body for an entirely different reason this time.]
no subject
I'll lose the shorts when you surrender my shirt.
[A deal that seems fair enough to him. Dezel's breath hitches a moment as Rose's fingertips rove over the bare skin of his chest, his eyes closing briefly at the sensation of her warm breath and skin against him. He stills as she settles on top of him, however, sensing that she may be having a moment of sorts and is in need of simply pressing close. He responds by carefully removing the towel from her hair, letting that drop off the side of the bed before gently brushing his hands back over the still somewhat damp strands of auburn. Kissing the top of her head, he takes in the pleasant, clean fragrance of the soap she used while bathing earlier combined with her own natural, comfortingly familiar scent.]
Hey...
[The single word is little more than a whisper, Dezel using a few soft touches to urge Rose to raise her head and turn toward him so he can lean in and press his lips to hers in a tender kiss. While things may get playful and rough before too much longer (if the cold doesn't end up discouraging them), he's content to slow things down a moment so he can bask in the pleasure of having Rose with him.]
no subject
[There's no denying it's a fair trade, indeed. Though one Rose isn't rushing to accept, not when Dezel eases her face up for a toe-curling kiss that she returns in equal measure. In contrast to their usual whirlwind style of affection, she takes her time savoring each exchange while scooting forward to ease the strain on his neck. A pulled muscle would be an excellent reason for getting more hands on but it wasn't like they need excuses anymore.]
[Once firmly ensconced in his arms, Rose breaks away for a second to bump foreheads in a gentle display of affection as the rest of her wiggles to generate more warmth. If it weren't for Dezel, she would have continued assuming the outward iciness of her body reflected a heartless inability to value another's life as much as or even more than her own after taking so many. For that she would always be grateful.]
...I really love you, you know that?
[Searching out one of his hands to take in her own cool one, she squeezes it tightly and gives him a look teeming with adoration. Maybe it's wrong of her to place him on a pedestal -seraph or human, he is a person after all- but Rose has to assume that even between humans there must be some element of devotion. The difference is her lover is truly worthy of worship.]
no subject
[For as accustomed as Dezel has become to affectionate physical contact with Rose, however, both her words and the loving look in her eyes are enough to leave him speechless a moment. Expressing adoration and dedication in words aren't things either of them are particularly good at, thus making those times when it happens all the more touching. The smile he offers in return is weak with emotion, gratitude and love reflected in his gaze. As she takes one of his hands in hers, his other comes up to gently brush her cheek.]
Yeah, I know... Even though sometimes I think this is all just some dream I'll eventually wake up from.
[As his fingers slowly trail along his jawline and then down her neck, Dezel does what he can to dig deep and find the words to match the emotions threatening to overwhelm him. His heart feels like it's melting and even though he's struggling to say as much, it would be fine with him if that feeling never went away.]
Rose, you...
[Trailing off for a moment, his voice wavering, Dezel closes his eyes and exhales deeply before trying again.]
You are everything to me. My soul would be broken and lost if not for you.
[While he may have given his life to save hers, she had already been his savior for years. And, in the end, she had been the reason he managed to find even a scrap of redemption to salvage his wounded spirit and broken soul.]
no subject
[That doesn't prohibit her from peppering his face with kisses intended as reassurement, however. While no amount of affection can magically undo the years Dezel has spent closing himself off from the world and others, she's determined to do everything within her power to help him relearn how wonderful it is to live again instead of being chained by past tragedies and mistakes.]
Not everything, I hope. There needs to be place in there for yourself. ...if not now, then someday... I want you to see yours is a soul worth saving. One to fight for.
[Until then she can and will make certain to protect the shining existence that's given her a new purpose and helped absolve her of sin. Ducking her head to hide the sudden, overwhelming surge of emotion that threats to spill out in the form of tears, Rose uses her thumb to massage the palm of his hand clasped in hers.]
no subject
[So he'd resigned himself to protecting her, even as she unknowingly held his soul in her heart and hands. Resigned to needing her to help him find the one who he was sure had ruined their lives. Resigned to convincing himself that the ends would justify the means, that Lafarga and the Windriders would be repaid for their suffering. And resigned to hating himself for what was necessary while loving Rose from a distance.]
[That despite all that, that he is worth saving, worth keeping... It makes his chest ache.]
Someday, maybe...
Since I must be worth something if you're here with me, now.
[His own words are a reminder to him that she chose him, even though she didn't have to. That she accepted his feelings and reciprocated in turn.]
[Seeing Rose lower her head in a effort to contain her emotions, Dezel finally succumbs to his own and wraps his arms around her, trembling as he pulls her up and buries his face against the side of her neck. When he speaks again, his voice is quiet, only audible for how very close he is to his beloved.]
I love you, Rose. More than I know how to put into words.
no subject
[An issue Rose hopes they can work on together. Neither of them have the best track record with proper handling of the truth and it's led to far too many fights, in her opinion. The occasional spat is inevitable, this she knows, but it's still something she doesn't want to chance. She loves Dezel too much to willingly risk losing him again over petty bullshit. Just as prayers and offering sustain seraphim, so too does does his wind breathe life into her. At this point she couldn't stand being without the man she loves- despair would eat away at her and leave a hellion in its wake for sure.]
[But she won't let that happen. Not now, not as long as Dezel continues to exist in this twisted, beautiful world. She fidgets as warm breath tickles her skin and slides her own arms around him. With infinite care she tangles both shaking hands into the short, choppy strands of dual-colored hair, rubbing her rough fingertips over his scalp in a slow massage. When she tries speaking again, Rose's voice chokes on a laugh as damnable tears pour down her cheeks.]
[This is stupid and probably a mistake, but what the hell. It's now or never.]
So... just marry me already, you idiot.
[That was possibly the shittiest proposal ever but at least she emphasizes each word with a kiss trailing up along his neck until her lips meet his ear. Playfulness is impossible for her to resist even during a moment like this and Rose nibbles gently on his lobe, catching the soft skin between sharp teeth. Or maybe it's a nervous reaction brought on by fear of rejection; even if he says no, the offering of physical pleasure may be enough to keep him from fleeing to another part of the house and leaving her alone in the cold.]
no subject
[He rumbles quietly as Rose gets her fingers into his hair, eyes shut tightly in an effort to hold back his own tears. At this point, he can't seem to get close enough to her, even for as tightly as they're already clinging to one another. There is a want to lose himself completely in her - to take shelter in her touch, her scent, in the sound of her breathing and her heartbeat... To forget that everything and anything else exists, even for just a short while.]
[But then she's kissing him, soft lips making their way up the sensitive skin of his neck to his ear, each affectionate bit of contact punctuated by words he's not even sure he's hearing correctly at first. By the time she's taken his earlobe into her mouth, his breath has caught in his throat, his entire body going ridged with surprise brought on by what sounded like...a proposal...? Eyes finally opening again, Dezel finds his voice seems to be lost to him. The only thing he can manage is a shaky, breathless chuckle before he turns his head to cover her mouth with his.]
[The kiss is rough, but also as desperately passionate as he knows how to make it. There's also no hiding the soft whimper that comes with it, nor the tears that finally start sliding down the sides of his face. Dezel is no stranger to pain brought on by love, though all too often it's been the agony of losing a loved one that he's felt over the years. This time, however, the hurt has never been more welcome. It's a wonderful ache in his chest that rapidly ignites a fluttering in his stomach and causes his hands to tremble faintly as he holds Rose so impossibly close. And it's as he ends the kiss so he can finish answering her properly that he understands...]
[So this is what joy feels like.]
Oh, Rose...
[Forehead against hers, he finds that despite the waver to his voice, he couldn't keep the smile off his face if he tried.]
I'll find you a ring and...yes. Yes, I will. I'll marry you and be with you as long as you'll have me.
[A seraph marrying a human. It's such a strange concept, but he doesn't care. All he does care about now is being bound to this beautiful, amazing, pure-hearted woman who means absolutely everything to him.]
