Fairy Tale AU Meme

Step 3: You can either do the same to determine your character's role within that story! Feel free to twist the role around as necessary.

Character Roles

1. Princess
One day your prince will come... Or maybe you're going after him! Or maybe you've been cursed/captured/whatever and are in need of rescue! Those towers won't climb themselves, and those kisses that awaken you from a century of slumber aren't exactly cheap.

2. Prince Charming/Heroic Knight
You're handsome (hopefully). You're charming (you think). You have a great outfit (this is debatable). Regardless, it's time to go find and rescue your one true love! ... Er, wherever she or he might be.

3. Villian
Man, those two up there sure are annoying, aren't they? Maybe it's time to do some kidnapping, curse some royalty, plague a kingdom, or whatever other nefarious deed you might be thinking of. In any case, the truly important thing is to make sure your cape and collar are appropriately intimidating and black.

4 . Red Riding Hood
... Or whichever other cute little girl that roams the woods in her free time that you can think of. You're cute, you have a pretty outfit, and there's something growling in the bushes but whatever it is, it can't be too dangerous, can it?

5 . Wolf
You're a wolf. Or a bear. Or some other animal. Or some random person with animal ears and a tail. Maybe you're evil, maybe you're just misunderstood, but you still can't stand those annoying people that keep wandering around your forest. Maybe they're even in your house, eating your food! The nerve! Or maybe they just look delicious, who knows.

6 . Dragon
You're a fucking dragon. Maybe you've kidnapped a snack, maybe someone came to hunt you down, maybe some hobbit is stealing your treasure, maybe you're just chilling. You're a dragon.

7 . Witch
Bring out the hat and broomstick, it's time to get the cauldron bubbling. Good, misunderstood, evil, who knows what you are. Except for a witch. You're definitely a witch. Try to avoid shoving small children into your oven and you should be fine.

8 . Cheery Animal Sidekick
Cheep cheep! Boy that princess sure is pretty, huh? You should sing with her and do her chores for her and obey her slavishly- wait... Well, whatever you're doing, you're cute and small and mildly annoying.

9 . Cursed Prince
Life was just perfect for you, until you got on the wrong side of that witch/wizard/cheery animal sidekick pushed just too far. Now you're cursed! Into a beast? Into a frog? Maybe you have really bad acne now? It could be anything (seriously, anything you can think of) but luckily, the cure is simple. Find your one true love and get that magical first kiss.

10. Fairy Godmother
When your princess is in need, she's only got one person to turn to. Her fairy godmother. It's your job to advise her, help get her out of any scrapes she happens to be in, or maybe you got her in the mess to begin with.

11. Random Extra
Wow, all those other guys sure are weird, aren't they? You'll just get back to work. Even with all this nonsense going on, life continues.

[So Oichi had decided to leave the castle alone, huh? Masamune didn't know what she was up to, but as a good godfather, he followed her without making himself noticeable. He should only appear if she needed his help, after all.]

[ Ichi clutched the naginata tightly to her chest with both hands, wanting to look behind, but daring not--her coward heart would likely betray her if she saw the Oda castle in the distance yet behind her, and she could not afford to be weak and return. Useless, her brother had called her, among many other things that were all true. Weak. Simpering. Stupid. She had borne it all with a hanging head and quiet apologies, and had been dismissed in disgust. She had sat in her room, in darkness, for quite some time, before rising to leave the castle. No one stopped her. Anything she did was generally regarded to not be noteworthy.

There was no plan in mind, no scheme brewing beneath the surface, only the desire to no longer be a burden. She might have been walking towards her own death for all she knew, but surely her absence would be of some comfort to her brother.

She walked for many hours down the dirt roads under the cover of night, passing by small villages and fields, but eyes turned only to the ground, until finally she came to a juncture in the road. Dark eyes flickered around, but there were no signs or markers of what lay ahead or where she was. Stupid--she hadn't even given thought to what direction she was going...! Sinking to her knees, tears began to well, and she had to fight to hold them in, ashamed that she could not even remove herself from the lands sensibly.]

[Well, looks like she could use some help now. Poor Oichi… Masamune would like very much to kick her shitty brother's ass if only she didn't love him so much. At least she had decided to leave the castle, and now had a chance to find a better life somewhere else.

He materializes beside her and pats her head.]

Hey. Don't cry. Whatever path you choose will be better than staying in that disgusting castle.

[Ichi started at the touch on her head, though the voice was familiar, and her eyes turned up to meet the single sapphire-colored gaze of the guardian dragon. Long ago, when she'd been a little girl, she had been visited by the spirit who claimed to be a protector, with a promise to return when she was in need of help. Since then she had taken care to light incense for him when she prayed, and though it had been years, even though she had not seen him in that time she'd often felt a presence with her in her lowest moments.]

My Lord Masamune... [She quickly adjusted her position on the ground to face the guardian, shifting into a more formal seiza, placing her hands delicately before her and shifting into a bow. The motion and darkness did well to hide the tinge at her cheeks--she must truly have hit bottom if her guardian had seen fit to visit.] I apologize, for disturbing you with my carelessness...

[Masamune had been very pleased with the offerings, and came around often to check on her. Most of the times he avoided interfering directly, only subtly indicating a path or distracting her terrible brother, but tonight he decided she needed a tangible company.]

Shhh, don't apologize. You didn't disturb me. I am a protector spirit, remember? This is what I do.

To be honest, I am actually glad you finally decided to leave that castle.

Now, I think we should get out of the road and set up a camp, so you can rest before deciding which path you want to take.

[To Ichi's mind, she hadn't been mistreated at the Oda clan's castle--quite the contrary, that she was tolerated as well as she had been, even what little use she was, was rather extraordinary. [Oichi, no. She didn't deserve that treatment and Masamune wishes she had decided to go away sooner. Nobunaga's heavy dark energy dampened some of Masamune's powers but now that they're out in the open he could do as he pleased.]

It's fine. Let's stay near the river, where my powers are stronger, and we can build you a bed of leaves and set up a fire. I'll get some fish too, you must be hungry.
