[When the idea of the kissing booth had come up for the summer festival, Shiro had just assumed that Lance would be manning it.

And that they'd all have to end up saving Lance from it as some point given his current track record with women.

So, making his rounds of the festival once it was in full swing, he'd only half glanced at the booth. And then done a double take. And then strolled over. Because - ]

Hunk?

[Hunk looks up from the book he might have been "stealthily" reading when he hears his name. When he spots Shiro he smiles and gives a small wave with his hand.]

Hey, Shiro! What brings the student council president all the way out here?

[He sees that book, Hunk. That's not exactly doing the barkers part of the kissing booth job by trying to lure people in. But - he really can't call Hunk on it either. Somehow he's pretty sure this is Lance's fault.]

Just checking and seeing how things are running. [The half laugh, half exhale finally slips out.] Hunk, what are you doing here?

Well, I'm certainly not here covering for the actual person who is supposed to be here. Who may or may not have run off after some girls he may or may not have been flirting with.

[Lance frickin' left him here with this dumb booth to go chase skirts, Shiro.]

[A hum and then a nod.]

Well, that's good. Because that would mean at some point we might or might not have to go rescue nobody at all from their lifestyle choices.

[His smile softens.]

Have you made any money?

[Hunk sighs, bringing his elbow up onto the tablet to rest a cheek against his hand.]

No, I haven't. I'm not really the guy people come here hoping to kiss, you know? Someone like Lance or Keith? Sure. Resident class clown Hunk? Nope.

[Gentle, Shiro rests a hand on Hunk's shoulder.]

Hiding behind a book isn't exactly encouraging anyone to come hit you up either.

[It's not a reprimand. Just a point. And then his hand slips away and he drops down to rest on his heels next to the booth and Hunk, hands going to rest over his thighs.]

You're not our class clown, Hunk. You're our engineering major and our peacekeeper and our level head ballast to keep everyone focused and on course. You do have the gift of knowing when we need to laugh and I wouldn't trade that for anything but - Hunk. There are plenty of girls out there that are attracted to puppy eyes, sweet huge brave hearts, bear hugs, complete support, utter loyalty, square jaws and smiles that really mean it when they happen. They're just usually girls that are a lot like that too and those types of girls don't usually hit up strangers at kissing booths regularly any more than you do.

[Oh... oh no. He didn't intend for Shiro to really take his off handed comment to heart, but the things he's saying... they bring a flustered heat to Hunk's face. While deep down he knows and believes these things himself, hearing them come from someone he admires is... nice.

He rubs at the back of his neck sheepishly.]

Uhh, thanks, Shiro... for all of that. I... uhm, I didn't know you thought all of those things about me. I hope you don't think I was fishing for compliments or anything... It's not what I was going for, but it's nice to hear that stuff regardless.

[Hey, don't underestimate Shiro's ~~team~~ club members. Not even if its just yourself. But Shiro will grin as he stands up again, clapping a hand on Hunk's shoulder.]

I know you weren't. That's why I gave them to you. Sometimes it helps to hear things like that from someone else. [His smile goes a little crooked.] Now go find Lance and drag him back here. I'll keep an eye on things until you get back.

[You don't have to tell him twice. Hunk stands, stuffing his book back into his messenger bag and slipping it over a shoulder.]

Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard to find him. Thanks, again, Shiro. I'm glad to have a friend as awesome as you!

[He gives the older student a wave and dashes off, ready to hunt his dumb best friend down and give him an earful.]

[and thanks for another thread from you too. I adore your Hunk. You do an awesome job with him!]

if they use green goo instead of flower petals it just might work
