Return of the RAIN MEME

caught in the rain
it started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. Time to find cover. Nothing much to do but to wait it out.
Scenarios listed below for those who want 'em.
i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it
ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck
004 BAG - Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - You know what. You're a rebel. You don't need cover. Screw convention
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it
iii WHY:
001 REJECTED - Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singin. Singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER - WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO RAIN.
006 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.
>> POST with your character
>> TAG others, use RNG if you need to, or just make up your own scenario if you want!
>> HAVE FUN.
Bruce Wayne/ Batman || Batman (Nolanverse-ish) || OTA
WHAT IS RNG?
So, she’s sitting outside on the roof, away from the paparazzi that were waiting to grab pictures of Bruce arriving home—though she’s wondering if that was a good choice the drizzle that had started. Still, it wasn’t bad enough that she couldn’t catch a bit of a nap before Bruce’s ETA.
No she wasn’t excited, or nervous, or feeling a bit jumpy. What are you talking about? That’s for pansies.
She totally is Bruce. Butterflies, okay?
]Also Alfred totally knows where she is. And would discreetly direct Bruce there, okay?
WE DO WHAT WE WANT.
The rain certainly helped though; with them hiding under a cluster of umbrellas to save their equipment, it was easier for him to slip past, to hide his face under his own umbrella and make his way back largely unaccosted. From there it wasn't very difficult at all to find out that he had a visitor, and where she was, and it was a few minutes later that, out of the monkey suit and clad in something a little more casual, he steps out onto the roof.
He wanders over, nonchalant, and looks out onto the city when he addresses her, leaning forward against the raised portion.]
I'm surprised you didn't get the "death of cold" speech.
REBELS. YEEEEEEEEEEEAH. /RANDOM EXPLOSION?????
Y'don't even want t'begin t'hear about the speeches I got.
[And to be fair, she did manage to sneak out before Alfred could get a word in.
But she manages an easy smile, voice still light.]
I'm guessin' he's gonna read y'the riot act later tonight?
no subject
[Like you don't need it, Bruce. Either way, he smirks, like it's really not a big deal.]
Probably.
no subject
Nah, s'okay. Nothin' I couldn't handle. 'Sides, th'fact that he had a talk with me means he's takin' me seriously, so I consider it more of an honor then anythin' else.
[Not to mention the underlying fact that is also meant Bruce was taking her seriously.
She'll just be patting the spot beside her, inviting him to come sit with her]
C'mon over. I promise y'won't get soaked... [A glance up at the clouds] At least, not too much.
no subject
[And no, he's not going to ask. He's assuming it was That Talk. Because apparently Bruce Wayne's romantic exploits are best handled like he's a teenage girl with an overprotective father.
Alfred, Bruce is going to have his own talk with you later.
He still takes a couple steps over to reduce the space though. Hey, she asked him to.]
I think the only way you could actually promise I'll stay dry would be if we went inside. But I promise I won't melt.
no subject
She just grins at him, relaxed, or at least, trying to be.]
I'm th'witch here. I should be melting.
[Though, the rain dampened her magic, no need to go into technicalities though.
She holds out her hand to him, something like a shy invitation, a reassurance in of itself. There's more she wants to say, but only after she knows he's there with her.]
no subject
[So much teasing. But he accepts the hand, takes another couple steps and nudges her with his shoulder. There. He's here. For now, anyway.]
no subject
Hey, it's only th'evil ones who melt. I'm like th'good witch of th'North.
[A squeeze of his hand, and her smile fades just a bit. Her natural want is to shy away, but she fights that-- leaning in instead. Though, she can't meet his eyes, not at this moment.]
'M sorry. [Murmured and quiet. Barely louder than the pitter patter of the rain.] For disappearin', and doin' that t'you.
[A slight pause, and she's shuffling her feet.]
I just-- didn't want you or anyone else gettin' hurt.
no subject
Funny, I'm usually the one worrying about that kind of thing.
[And IT STILL HAPPENS ANYWAY.]
no subject
Where I'm from, I don't have a mask. People've been tryin' t'off me for a while.
[It remains unsaid that her family already suffered the consequences.]
It's politics, everythin' is complicated.
[She was attempting to restructure a 500 year old government. 'Complicated' was simplifying the situation.
She had good people surrounding her, trustworthy, competent. They made sure that the people she could hold close she could keep safe--
otherwise, she just pushed them away.]
no subject
[...really, Bruce. You threw a party for a guy who you thought would be Gotham's shining knight with a face, and even if it was to make some convoluted point, the fact remains it was a political thing, whether or not he'd wanted it to be one.]
Maybe you should get a mask, if you're really that worried about it.
[No, he doesn't really mean it.]
no subject
[At least she was given more time. And she knew the risks.]
My country is corrupt; People starve, and fight, and die, and not one of th'royalty takes any notice. We're all holed up in the Palace, just tryin' t'make sure our wallets are fatter. Makin' sure we stay in control.
[Her eyes turn from the ground, to the horizon.]
There's a revolution comin' whether anyone wants t'admit it or not. And I wanna be at th'head. I wanna make sure that what happened t'me-- t'my citizens becomes a thing of th'past.
no subject
[A pause, long, quiet, and he stares out at the skyline while he thinks, unreadable, before, finally:]
Whatever's going on there, you don't have to worry about me. I can handle myself.
no subject
I've lost a lotta people. [She holds in a breath, unsure if she wants to continue, then releases--] I've always been scared of that happenin' again.
no subject
You should be. Or at least keep it in mind. It means you'll be thinking about it, being smart about things.
But it can't hold you back.
[The Bat's a little closer to the surface now, because he has to be; he can't say the things that need to be said about it, the truth, if he's emotionally invested in the conversation.]
no subject
Never held back. After I made th'decision t'go back it wasn't an option for me.
[A soft huff of air as she continues to study their hands]
Though, that's kinda a lie. I've held back from people, from relationships. Never wanted t'get anyone involved in somethin' they didn't sign up for ever again.
[Then her eyes turn to him. 100% earnest.]
Are y'still sure, Bruce?
[About this. About us. About me.]
no subject
Do you want the honest answer or the one you want to hear?
[Because they both end the same way, but the route to get there's a little different.]
no subject
Don't y'dare insult me with anythin' less than th'truth.
[She glances quickly at the edge of the roof--]
Though, I should point out, we're on a roof and I wouldn't hesitate t'throw you off.
[SHE KIDS. SHE KIDS. REALLY. Alfred would destroy her.]
no subject
[He's amused. Really he is.]
No. But I'm willing to give it a shot anyway; I'm about as sure as I'm going to be.
(no subject)
provided by the above offender. also lol rng right
The valet urges him back under cover, but he waves it off, instead, waltzing over to Bruce with a spring in his step; someone he might actually enjoy talking to. Too bad he'd been hard to get a hold of all evening; after all, it was his banquet. ]
Not what I'd call a 'picturesque' ending.
OKAY day later when I have brain
Unfortunately, with the rain outside as he left, it made it more difficult, crowded together like sardines and that's always been the worst part of it, he thinks. The loss of space. Which is why he headed out past the awning and dry to begin with; few people wanted to brave the elements in expensive suits and gowns.
Except evidently it wasn't quite enough to get free of all of it. He turns to greet the source, patented Bruce Wayne public smile sliding into place, and unlike Tony he seems to have not even bothered with trying to keep any part of him dry.]
Unfortunately, welcome to Gotham.
[He does hold out a hand though, the picture of polite and friendly.]
Glad you could make it. What did you think?
ditto what is brain
Static, until just now.
You really don't have to run through the motions with me, really. It wasn't too bad. You don't seem to attract nearly as much....media, which is a blessing and a curse.
Then again, they'd have to pay an Olympic runner to keep up with you.
one of these days I will tag back the same day and it will be a complete surprise to everyone?
Well I have to keep them busy somehow, not everybody has a flair for the public eye like you do.
I was at your last event, actually. [Yeah. He snuck in, and stayed incognito. It's what he does.] You definitely know how to throw a party.
