Well, one could argue that trusting anyone is foolish these days.

But I'll bite: Do you not trust anyone or is it only certain people?

No one except family, and even then it wavers. The only person I can trust is myself.

Considering what you've told me about your family I can't say as I blame you. Can't help but agree with you on the latter as well. Even accidentally or without meaning to, others have the capacity to let you down or bring you harm.

Change my mind regarding what, exactly? From what I understand you disagree with all of my decisions.

I do disagree with you. Frequently. That's why I want to know if you'd ever change your mind about trusting people.

It's not a question of changing my mind, Caroline. I'm perfectly capable of seeing when and when it is not logical to trust someone.

It is my heart, and my experience, that holds me back. There are some betrayals one never recovers from.

And what would that be, exactly? If I recall correctly, your love Tyler lied to you and abandoned you. Do you not regret trusting him with your heart?

I don't; I regret not realizing his hate for you was greater than his love for me though.

And therein lies your lesson, Caroline. Love fades in time. I have seen it happen. But hate is a fire that never burns out.

If it is so easily replaced, one could argue it was never strong enough to begin with.
