Kidnapping Meme

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you. |
i. Scenarios ① kidnapped for ransom - everyone wants to make a quick buck. and what quicker way is there than ransoming someones life. Not that everything always goes to plan. Let's just hope that everyone comes out alive and happy. ② kidnapped for revenge - Someone was on the wrong side. Maybe it's the significant other of an Ex. Maybe it's the Ex themselves. Or perhaps it's even more complicated than that. Either way, there's nothing sweeter. ③ cracknapping - Okay, so you didn't mean to drink that much, but now you have woken up in a room with a bunch of mascots from the game and what is going on? ④ kidnapped for help - We need you help. Whether you're willingly up to offer it or not. ⑤ kidnapped for their own good - Want to get you out of a bad situation. It's for your own good. Trust us. You're safe now, you won't be hurt any more. ⑥accidental kidnapping - okay. so this wasn't... exactly what was planned. But looks like we've got an extra person now. W H O O P S ??? ⑦ wildcard - Anyway you want it. ii. relationship ① kidnapper and kidnapee - The prize and the thief, what better combination? ② kidnapee and rescuer - Don't worry, they're here to save you. ③kidnapees! - Well. Stuck together. This is a good bonding moment. ④ kidnappers anonymous - All of you need to get together and feel bad about yourselves. ⑤ wild card - That's the way you need it |

Dorian Pavus | Dragon Age: Inquisition
4-3
But she is, however, incredibly and eerily calm despite having her hands bound up with tight and constrictive rope. At least they didn't tie up their legs. She acknowledges Dorian with a curt voice.]
Hey. You got magic?
no subject
It's going to stain his robes, is all he thinks. Unfortunate.
It's difficult to focus like this, after all. Which is most likely why they'd bludgeoned him with reckless abandon as they had. Keep him from casting -- because if he had been well, he would have easily frozen the bindings at his wrists, or burned them, or any number of things to hasten his escape.
When the woman addresses him, he tries to come up with some sort of scathing response back. "No, they simply ambushed me for my good looks and cleanliness. Perhaps they hoped I could share the secrets of adequate hygiene."
What he says instead is this: ]
I do. [ He looks her over, appraising. Sizing her up. ] You?
no subject
[It's a very matter-of-fact sort of tone. She stands up, sizing him up too and then looking at their prison room. Lots of metal. Door's got a rather huge lock that probably needed some complicated key...]
They took away my first one, but I have an extra. Can't reach it with my hands tied up though.
Anyways, you're probably more of an asset than I am, but I can pull my own weight as long as I have a sharp weapon.
no subject
But he would like revenge for the damage to his head. And his shirt. Those are two things that he simply cannot abide.
Dorian takes a breath, trying to focus his quickly retreating thoughts. (But Maker, did his head hurt.) ]
The ropes are inconsequential. [ If he could wave a hand dismissively, he would. ] The lock, even simpler. It's the escape that I have concerns with. Did you catch the layout?
no subject
[If this was a slightly more normal situation where people didn't wear armor and wave around European(?) style swords and cast magic spells that are way more straightforward than anything Touko ever does... Well, Shiki would probably take the fastest way out. As it is though, it's not gonna be easy and she would like to see who their kidnapper is. Maybe see if they're worth killing. She kind of doubts it, but whatever.]
If the ropes aren't a big deal, then take care of that. I'll take care of the lock.
no subject
He'll argue about it later.
As it is, he focuses his power, feels a chill running down his arms, and the ropes are soon cold, sticking to his skin. Soon enough his magic makes them brittle enough for him to twist his hands, snapping the ropes into pieces.
He waves her closer, not trusting himself to stand just yet. ]
Once I take care of the ropes, I'll need your help up. [ He gestures to the growing lump at the back of his head. ] Not myself, at the moment.
no subject
Anyways, she watches him as he freezes off the ropes. That's pretty neat actually, but she doesn't show her fascination. When he waves her over, she comes closer and kneels down in front of him, holding out her tied up wrists.
There's a pause, but Shiki nods in agreement.]
Right. They got you real good, didn't they?
no subject
The lummoxes decided beaming a mage with a large, blunt instrument would be the best way to utilize his magic. Never mind the fact that all the spells are contained in one's brain.
"No, no, let's simply scramble it as best we can and hope nothing leaks out of his ears afterward. That's the ticket!"
[ Once the ropes are frozen enough to snap, he pulls his hands away, one going to press cold fingers to the injury at the back of his head. ]
no subject
NotShiki holds back the urge to roll her eyes since, hey, having a mage on her side is probably a good deal for her in the end.]Can't say that whoever's behind nabbing us was all that good at planning. Tch.
[As Dorian takes care of his injury, she sits back, massaging her wrists.]
Your name? I didn't catch it when they tossed you in here.
no subject
[ There's a lengthier spiel that accompanies his typical introductions, lots of titles that mean nothing in the south, but he decides now's not the time. ]
Yours?
no subject
[She slowly stands up and reaches back for her knife, hidden in her obi. Shiki takes it out, still covered in its simple, but beautiful sheathe.]
Still need help up?
no subject
Luckily, there's a conveniently placed wall for him to lean against as he stands, and luckier still, the room only dips and spins a little. He's holding his head with a grimace, willing everything to settle. ]
You said you could take care of the lock?
no subject
Yeah.
[Her back is turned towards Dorian and she unsheathes her knife; it's sharp and it glints from the low lights that are in the prison.]
It's better to make as little noise as possible at first so they don't catch on...
[She's turned her back for good reason; she's stares at the lock on the door and she swipes her knife over it, the tip of her weapon barely grazing the surface...
And the lock suddenly drops to the floor.]
... At least until it's too late.
no subject
I'd prefer to have my staff. If they're not fully idiots, they'll have simply stowed it somewhere.
[ He eyes the lock, now on the ground, with some interest. ]
How did you manage that?
no subject
[As for his inquiry...]
... I cut it. What do you think?
[Whoa, watch out we have a smartass here.]
no subject
Yes, I saw that. I may be slightly concussed, but I am not, in fact, blind. Nor am I an idiot, who will simply accept that your knife was strong enough to cut through a lock as heavy as that.
no subject
Ah. Not an idiot, huh?
[Her eyes narrow, amused.]
Good enough. I'll take it.
[Don't want to be stuck with an idiot in a dangerous situation after all!]
You're right about it not being the knife. Sure makes it easier though. Anyways, let's move out and get your magic stick first.
no subject
[ -- not that he will, of course; predictably, there's very little sincerity in his threat. Following the lead of a child. Ridiculous, the course his life has taken.
He would, of course, blame the head injury. ]
Where are you from? [ He's careful to keep his voice low. ] I don't recognize the style of your garb.
no subject
[It's okay, Shiki makes casual jokes about murder too... She sheathes her knife (if they meet anyone, she wants the element of surprise and a quick draw on her side). ]
... Different country and different world all together. That's what I figure anyways.
[If she's able, she wants to find a rift that would return her to Mifune and back where she belongs. Just because she can cut the boundaries of reality doesn't mean she wants to make it a habit...]
no subject
[ He does, in fact, find that fascinating, but there are more pressing matters at hand.
Like finding his staff. Which is not, in fact, a stick. It has a blade on one end, thank you very much. It's as they're slipping past a door that he spots it; the door in question is slightly ajar, and his staff is leaning against a wall near a man (who, despite being dressed as a guard, seems nothing like one), fast asleep.
Dorian grips Shiki's shoulder silently, nodding toward the door, then releasing the shoulder to hold his palm flat to her. Hold here.
He kneels beside the open door, back against the wall. The sorry excuse for a guard seems fast asleep, snoring softly. Fortunate. Dorian takes a breath, collecting his thoughts against his throbbing skull, then summoning his magic. He holds out his hand, fingers splayed, and the staff flies toward him. He catches it deftly. ]
Staff. [ He mouths it, giving Shiki a pointed look, and he nods her onward. ]
no subject
[So she says, dryly.
She's about to move into the room before Dorian touches her on the shoulder and makes his signal. Shiki allows him to stealthily retrieve his
stickstaff while she herself doesn't make a noise. She continues forward after he retrieves it, without comment at his pointed look.
In her head though? A stick with a pointy end. Yeah.]
no subject
As it is, Dorian is still using the wall to steady himself against the way the floor dips. Clearly the injury has done awful things for his equilibrium, and he certainly does not appreciate it. The sooner they're out of here, the better. ]
Different world, then. [ He's still whispering, though they haven't encountered anyone since that man guarding his staff. ] Do I get any clue as to how you find yourself here?
no subject
She remains a few feet ahead of him, but does show a small amount of consideration by stopping when he steadies himself, waiting for him to move forward with her.]
If you're asking about how I got to this world, then I'm not sure. I may have crossed a boundary of some sort and got lost along the way. How I got here in prison, on the other hand...
I got questioned. Didn't wanna answer.
no subject
[ He wonders if their captures could at all be related. ]
