Took You In Shipping Meme

The TOOK YOU IN Shipping Meme
They were on your front door, in your yard, or on the street, confused and clearly in no position to fend for themselves; in a worst case scenario, they were bruised and battered, possibly close to death. Bleeding heart or not, you can't just be so cruel as to let them suffer. They need a place to stay, and you'll open your home to them...long enough to get back on their feet, anyway.
Speaking of feet, the shoe could be on the other one. You're worse for the wear - in a new place, possibly injured, certainly not in the best state of mind. You could not even remember how you got here or who you are to get here, for that matter. You may not want to remember. Whether willing or not so willing, you're in no position to turn down help, especially if said helper won't take no for an answer. No matter how dedicated you are to looking after yourself, there's only so much you can do in your position.
The two of you are staying together, at any rate. Only for a while, the plan is. But after said while, even though strength and confidence is returning to the injured, there's something a little different between you two. It could be the close quarters, the kindness shown, or a number of things, but quietly, softly, feelings have grown. Could more confusion and hurt spring from this? What about when it's time to go? Can the temporary resident leave as easily as they intended? You're so close now, perhaps a little while longer can't do any harm...
...until whatever it was that put them in such a perilous position in the first place comes back, and there could be "justice" for anyone who's dared to help.
RULES
- Comment with your character and preferences. Say if you'd rather play the taken in or the person taking them in.
- Reply to others.
- There's no smut option because I'm making a companion smut meme to this for TLH in the next few days, but you can play smut if you really want to!
PROMPTS
- ғɪɴᴅɪɴɢ — Who's that? They're no ordinary passersby! Were they in an accident? Are they foreign? ...should you approach them?
- ʀᴀɪɴ, ʀᴀɪɴ, ɢᴏ ᴀᴡᴀʏ — The elements make this night no time to sleep out of doors.
- ʙᴀᴄᴋ ᴛᴏ ʜᴇᴀʟᴛʜ — Cuts, broken bones, injuries all of sorts...you have to stitch them back up, then make sure they don't get any
- ɢᴏᴏᴅ ɢᴜᴇsᴛ — It's all you can do to show gratitude to the person who took you in. Fix them a meal, care for their house, whatever you can do once you're able.
- ʙᴀᴅ ɢᴜᴇsᴛ — FUCK THIS PERSON AND FUCK THEIR COUCH. You didn't ask to be brought here. Let them clean up after you, you don't even care.
- ᴡʜᴏ ᴀᴍ ɪ? — How you got into this situation is a mystery. Even more of a mystery is your identity, and why the person you were would be so displaced.
- sᴇʟғʟᴇssɴᴇss —
- ʟᴇᴀʀɴɪɴɢ — If you've been injured badly enough or can't remember all too well, you might have to relearn a good deal. Luckily, you have a helping hand.
- sᴄᴀʀs — Scars from the encounter that lead you here or scars from prior, you don't want them to see either. You still have your secrets to keep.
- sᴛᴜʙʙᴏʀɴ — Ugh, your house guest is so stubborn! They always get up when they should be resting, have the worst habits, and completely disrespect your home! You'll get to them, one way or another. Or you'll throw them out. You don't want to, but you will.
- ᴄᴏᴍғᴏʀᴛ — Bad memories or nightmares wreck you; your host and nurse comes to your side unexpectedly.
- ᴄᴜʟᴛᴜʀᴇ ᴄʟᴀsʜ — The person who's taken you in is from a different culture or lifestyle than you, and adapting is harder than you thought.
- ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ ғᴇᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ — Think learning about a new culture is hard? Try being a different species. Can you keep your little eccentricities at bay for the good of your station?
- ᴊᴇᴀʟᴏᴜsʏ — Now that your emotions towards your caretaker/host/jailer are softening, you're finding yourself unusually jealous of those in their life who were close to them before.
- ɴᴇᴡ ᴀᴄᴛɪᴠɪᴛɪᴇs — You never thought you'd have fun after all that's happened, yet such simple gestures as a picnic or a movie make all the difference.
- ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴢᴀᴛɪᴏɴ — You love them, this person who's taken you in or this person you've found. It's not a pity or a thankfulness, it's love, and you know that now. What you choose to do with this information is
- ʜɪsᴛᴏʀʏ — Suddenly, the person who's been so nice to you finds out that the two of you have a history. You killed their loved ones or caused something terrible. How can they forgive you?
- ᴘʀᴏᴛᴇᴄᴛ — So much has been done for you. The least you can do in return for the one who helped you at your lowest is make sure they never have such a low point.
- ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀ ᴄᴏᴍᴇs ᴋɴᴏᴄᴋɪɴɢ — Anyone in the way of getting to you will be destroyed, and that includes the person you're staying with.
- ʟɪᴠᴇ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇᴍ — You've been given a home, maybe which you've never had before. You don't want to leave.
- ʀᴏᴍᴀɴᴄᴇ — Not only are you living with them, but you're starting a proper life with them.
- ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ — All secrets are laid out on the table. You've decided to tell about your past and what lead you here.
- ʀᴇᴠᴜʟsɪᴏɴ — What you've done and who you are is so heinous, they want nothing more to do. You're to leave their home and leave them alone.
- ᴀᴄᴄᴇᴘᴛᴀɴᴄᴇ — It doesn't matter what they've done. You've opened your home and your heart to them, and nothing's changed.
- ᴘᴀʀᴛɪɴɢ — All things must come to an end. No matter what you feel for each other, it's time to leave. Hopefully, you'll see each other again.
- ʜᴀᴘᴘɪʟʏ ᴇᴠᴇʀ ᴀғᴛᴇʀ — Come what may, you've decided to stay at your new home with the person you love. Now, it's safe enough to do so.

Shit, it's really coming down. [ he looks out the glass door, shoving back his damp hair. ] You can come in and dry off, you're not going to get anywhere in this weather.
no subject
But he could still see Heine's aura. He was a good kid. Tough and perhaps equally suspicious, but good. Things may be different in other places, like the feel of the weather or the aura given off any particular atmosphere, but people were always the same. ]
I thank you kindly for the shelter, regardless. I'll be quite honest, I have no clue where I'm going, haha. I figured I'd be safe setting up camp, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to camp.
[ Coco's careful where he steps, largely sticking to the entryway where he can't drip excessively. His turban comes off first, slicking the excess water out of black hair to slip down into the matching green wraps at his neck, which come off next. A soft pulse of purple runs through his hands before he's clenching his fists, taking a moment to breathe, and wrings them all out just outside the door. ]
no subject
[ heine chooses to use that as some kind of an excuse for doing something marginally polite. his clothes are soaked, too, but he obviously has more upstairs that he can change into. coco, not so much. heine doubts any of his clothes will fit him.
the process he goes through of wringing his garments dry is interesting, though, and heine watches without a word until it seems like he's done. then, he leads toward the staircase. he's only on the second floor, and waiting for the elevator takes more time than it's worth. on his way up, he doesn't say much, just makes a cursory attempt and pushing back his wet hair and mostly failing. ]
I can take your clothes to the dryer.
[ he mentions this only after they're inside and both dripping a little on the floor. ]
no subject
I see. Then you saved me from an uncomfortable stay in a cell. Thank you for that.
[ Hunters didn't mean much here. Back home he was so renowned he actually had to be careful lest he get mobbed by fans, and Hunters were largely left alone if they were camping in the wilds. It's almost a refreshing start if it didn't mean starting out on the bottom rung. Ah well.
The wrung-out wraps get tucked into his belt and he sluices as much water from his clothing as he can before following Heine upstairs, feet squelching in his boots unpleasantly. ]
That's all right, if you tell me where they are I can take them myself. I'll just need to track down something to wear in the meantime, even if it's only a towel... I'm not too picky. Are you sure you don't mind your place getting wet?
[ He can be just as careful taking his shoes off as he'd been at the apartment building's entrance...! ]
no subject
[ heine feels the need to make this very clear, pausing in the process of taking off his shoes to emphasize. ]
It's fine. Just take off your shoes and go into the bathroom for a minute. Grab a towel and take that stuff off.
[ in the meantime, heine goes off to rifle through his closet for something that might fit coco. heine's not particularly small, but coco's taller and wider. the only thing he digs up is a pair of oversized sweatpants that he guesses is an old, misguided gift; he holds them up to his hips briefly and finds that they'd never fit him.
they're far better than having coco walk around in just a towel.
heine dries himself off quickly with another towel and changes into a dry t-shirt and sweatpants as well before returning to the bathroom where he left coco to his own devices a few minutes earlier. standing aside from the doorway, he knocks as a warning and holds the pants out into the room. ]
Try these.
no subject
It takes him a few minutes, carefully wringing out as much excess water as possible before folding them for easy carrying and drying himself off with the towel. He's just fixing one edge at his waist when Heine knocks and sweats appear, practically new.
He can see why. With a breath of a laugh, he'll take them. They were far too large for so wiry a man. ] Thank you, these should work just fine. To save you a trip, my clothes can probably just hang in the shower for a couple hours and be dry, if you wouldn't mind it.
[ The sweats are... well. They'll do, even if they're uncomfortably tight over damp briefs. He'll finally step out with the towel around his neck, mussing black hair. ]
I suppose things are quite different from where I came from. ...Thank you, truly. Do you have tea? I could make some to take the chill off.
no subject
[ heine waits for coco to emerge from the bathroom, automatically scanning him over. he looks weird like this, wearing casual sweats rather than his usual outfit. heine dismisses the thought automatically. ]
Yeah. In the cabinet over the counter there.
[ he points it out. his apartment is sparsely furnished and doesn't appear very lived in, but it's comfortable enough. heine glances back into the bathroom. ]
Just give me your clothes. I'll be back in a few minutes.
no subject
[ His bodysuit had already likely given off his physique— muscular and lean, and it proves moreso once he's shirtless. The sweats are tight at the waist and hips, but the legs are loose enough to be comfortable. Coco pops back into the bathroom to fetch the wet clothes he'd left folded in the sink and hands them off to Heine with a sheepish look, and then he's already moving to the kitchen on bare feet to investigate and poke around, going for the tea squirreled away in the cabinets. ]
Tea should be ready by then, if you don't mind me poking around your kitchen in your absence.
[ He had to make it up to him somehow. ]
no subject
heine takes the wet clothes from coco's hands, starting to shift his weight from foot to foot. ] Okay. Thanks... for the tea.
[ his eyes are roughly on level with coco's shoulders, and it's almost easy to look down at the rest of his body. not that he wants to. really. he swears. heine returns to his own bedroom briefly to pick up his own wet clothes before leaving the apartment.
heine returns in under ten minutes, the sound of the door opening the only indication of his return. after taking off his shoes, he heads back to the kitchen. ]
no subject
You're not allowed to thank someone for food before you've tried it.
[ He wants to follow and close the door behind him, but it may be more of a nuisance for Heine if his neighbors saw a half-naked man in his apartment. When he does hear it close, however, he can't help but look with renewed earnest, looking for a few ingredients...
Upon Heine's return, the tea is finished as promised but there's also a simple dish prepared alongside it, waiting on the table. Whatever he had had lying around, Coco had turned into a hot and quick pasta dish. He's standing at the sink washing up the remaining dishes when he hears him approaching the kitchen, turning and looking a bit sheepish. ]
Welcome back. I hope you don't mind, I used some of your food to prepare something in thanks. I didn't use more than half of what you had laying around.
[ There's only a portion set out for Heine; he wouldn't be rude enough to make food for himself. He'd be able to eat later. But there will also be a plate wrapped up in the fridge for him to find later with the leftovers. ]
no subject
back in his apartment, his impromptu houseguest seems to have familiarized himself with the kitchen, at least. ]
Uh. No, that's fine. [ he didn't even know that he had enough stuff to make pasta like this. it does look good—smells good, too—and heine realizes abruptly that he wouldn't mind eating.
there's only one plate, though. ]
Did you only make that much? You should eat some too.
no subject
He watches Heine's reaction to the food, the burst in his electromagnetic waves that responds favorably to it. And he smiles, a little thing. He was a little nervous he'd be overstepping his bounds. ]
I did, but that's all right. I just ate a little before it began to rain. Consider it my thanks. I've been doing what I can with the local foods available so it was good practice, since a lot of them are new to me.
[ He tactfully did not say "bland". There was a large gap in quality from what he was used to and what was available here in this place. He was, after all, a Gourmet Hunter at heart, no matter how he may have tried to deny it up until recently. ]
no subject
he's still standing. sitting at the table when coco's still on his feet would make the height difference even bigger, and sitting together when he's the only one eating would also be weird.
he takes a bite, chews slowly. it tastes good. probably better than most food that he eats, though he does tend to eat barely enough and mostly junk when he does. ]
Thanks. [ in a sort of mumble. ] 's good.
You can watch TV or something if you want.
no subject
I'm glad you like it; it was a bit of a gamble. [ At the mention of TV, though, he looks surprised. He'd seen the technology around, of course, but he'd never seen anyone actually watching. ] Oh, is there cable? I didn't realize.
[ Which isn't to say he's terribly interested, either, but he can recognize a hint for privacy. He'll take his clothes and the rest of his tea and wander out to the sitting area, fiddling with the remote. He finds the news station and looks around for a moment before taking a seat on the sofa, flushing just a hint at helping himself half-naked in someone else's home. ]
no subject
heine finishes most of the plate, covers it, and puts it in his mostly-empty refrigerator with the rest of it. he eats at a pretty normal pace, and it's some time before he comes over to see what coco's watching on tv. ]
Hey. [ he leans over the back of the couch. ]
no subject
And he twitches with the urge to jump, but it quickly turns into a good-natured (if apologetic) smile. He lived a secluded life personally back home, so when he settled into mundane situations, he wasn't used to others being around. It got away from him just a bit. ]
Hey. Did you finish? I'm surprised there's broadcasts by others like us in this place. It makes the information easier to relate to, anyway.
[ Coco stop talking. The thought crosses his mind that Heine may want him to pack up and leave, however, and suddenly he feels like a bit of a nuisance. ]
no subject
Yeah. Stuff that's normal here is still pretty weird.
[ what coco's thinking isn't clear to heine, but he does see the way he stops talking and the change in posture. ]
...do you want to watch something else?
no subject
It seems that way. And it's fine; I've been enjoying it. If you'd like to change it then by all means, please. I should... probably check if it's still raining. I'm sure you'll want your sweats back soon.
[ His smile is a little sheepish as he pinches the material as if to demonstrate, but there isn't much give. They're especially tight at the hips through the thighs, showing off a little more than was appropriate. Heine's proximity wasn't helping much either. ]
no subject
[ and as for the rain—heine glances out the window, but the curtains are half drawn and there's not much to see but the dark night, lights on in the city, and streaks of water on the glass. ]
Where were you going to go? [ the dryer is probably done running by now, but heine doesn't think there's any point in sending coco out now. it's not like he's bad company. he slouches back on the couch, pulling his feet up to sit cross-legged. ] You can just stay. For the night.
no subject
I suppose that's true... [ And then he offers Coco a place to stay for the night, and he's nearly embarrassed to admit his plans. ] I had a bit of the currency I exchanged from my own country, so I was hoping to find a tent to purchase somewhere. Set it up on high ground, or under some sort of outcropping. Until I settled in more and found a job and a place to live while I'm here. ...Thank you, again. I realize I've said so a couple times, but I'm serious. For your hospitality. It's very selfless of you to take in a stranger and I do honestly appreciate it. If there's anything I can do, please let me know and I'd be more than happy to do it.
[ He smiles, a small lopsided and nervous thing because this has... never happened to him before. He has his manners and etiquette and absolutely no experience in being taken in by a stranger, so all he can do is hope to cause as little of a nuisance and possible and try to do as much as he can to help. ]
no subject
Like I said. It's dangerous to try camping around here. [ not so much due to the wildlife, more to do with the people. he rests an elbow on the arm of the couch. alternating between what's playing on the tv and brief eye contact with coco, he shrugs again lightly. the praise, motivated by etiquette as it may be, is utterly unfamiliar to heine. he tries to shrug off the odd feeling in his chest. ]
You already made food. It's fine, seriously.
[ vaguely, he wonders if coco will be even able to lie down on the couch tonight. well, they'll cross that bridge when they come to it. he slouches further over the couch arm before thinking of something. ]
You want to watch a movie?
aaaaand segue into thread merging
All right, if you're sure. [ His tone is dubious, but as Heine relaxes on the arm of the couch, Coco tries to do the same, reclining back into the scratchy fabric of the cushions and crossing one leg over the other, ankle resting on the opposite knee. At the mention of a movie, his brows raise. ]
A movie? I suppose so. Did you have something in mind? [ He really isn't picky, and it's not as if he'd seen anything offered here in the first place.
The notion in itself is a comfortable one; who didn't have good memories of settling in and watching a movie? Goosebumps race up his arms and down his chest with a faint shiver, only awakening the throbbing in his head once again. He thought he'd finally put that beast to sleep, but here it was roaring and carrying on again. He'll try to play off the way he rubs at his temple, fingers burying in thick black hair to give himself something of a scalp massage. ]
it's as if we planned this all along
but a movie will be ample distraction, he figures. heine shrugs and slides off the couch to the stand that the tv is set on. ] I've got some.
[ half of them are joke gifts from friends and acquaintances, but a few are movies that he actually likes. heine takes out a psychological drama, some explosion-rich action flick, and... a documentary on whales. he can't remember where he got the last one. he turns back with the three of them in his hands to see coco looking dizzy again and trying to apparently soothe the pain away. ]
You want an aspirin?
onhonhon but we did monsieur
A DOCUMENTARY ON WHALES. Heine pls. When he turns back and offers the movies (and an aspirin), Coco offers a sheepish quirk of a smile and waves a hand. ]That's all right, I shouldn't be taking any medicine. [ With how his system produces any chemical mixture, taking in anything additional would be a disaster. ] It's not unbearable, but thank you for the offer. How about the middle one? [ The action flick. He's trying to deflect Heine's attention, not wanting to impose any further than he has already. ]
