Otherwordly Meme

Sometimes all you need is a word to spark off an idea.
1. Post a comment with your character's name, canon, and any preferences you may have (no shipping, no smut, etc.)
2. Leave the comment blank or post a word or two in the body.
It may also help if you list scenarios you would like to play.
3. Reply to other people, either with words you picked out, or words they posted as prompts for a thread.

Peter Quill | Guardians of the Galaxy
Found a few, pick whichever one you like!
Honne! This-- sorta got away from me, sorry. D:
He’s never been on a date (and the word bounces around oddly in his mind. A date), preferring instead to find a bar or crash a party and charm his way into someone’s bed. He’s still not sure what compelled him to ask Maya to dinner, except that it had made complete sense to him at the time. Nor does he quite understand what led to her saying yes, but he’s glad of both things, nerves be damned.
It’s evening now in Xandar. They had docked several hours ago, and the others had left them to it (Drax had clapped him on the shoulder by way of good luck, and Peter is pretty sure he’ll have a bruise there in the morning). Right now he’s waiting outside the ship, trying to convince himself that this was just dinner, and that maybe he shouldn’t have said “date” at the time. Maybe he should clarify that this was a social date, not a romantic one. She’d be okay with that, right? No big deal. She’d be cool with that. Just him and Maya. Just the two of them, and they could have a social dinner date as friends, right? Just friends.
Right?
But then he thinks of the way they danced that night, both taking turns at being nervous and awkward; the way she smiled so gently and genuinely; the feel of her hand in his; the way she had kissed him on the cheek, and how nice he thinks it’d be if she would do that again—
Shit, he thinks, and he tangles a hand in his hair in a panic. Shit! I’m so fucked. ]
don't be sorry ever
It sounded so childish, when out that way, but those were the facts.
When she finally broke down and contacted Lilith, desperate for some advice that wasn't coming from either Moxxi or Gaige, that had been the first question out of the other Siren's mouth after Maya explained her situation: Do you like him?
Well, yeah, she had said.
No Maya, Lilith had countered, Do you like him?
Forced to confront her true feelings, and really and truly think about it, she had found that the answer was the same. Beyond that Lilith had only offered her one other piece of advice, and frankly it had made Maya nervous, but she took it to heart all the same.
Now after checking herself in the mirror for the umpteenth time and convincing herself that she looked fine, she finally makes her way out to meet him. ]
Sorry I took so long, I just-- are you okay?
[ because honestly, he looks a little panicked ]

Me? Yeah, I'm food. [ Shit. ] Um. I meant to say fine, but it came out good.
[ The smile falters a little, and he quietly clears his throat. ]
Let's start over. You ready to go?
no subject
Ready when you are.

Be cool, Peter, he thinks to himself.
He amends quickly, Be Star-Lord.
Yeah, that's something he can do.
So he bows to her, doffing an imaginary hat, before offering her his arm. ]
Shall we, milady?
no subject
So, where are we off to?

Figured you'd wanna sample some of the local cuisine, since it's your first time in Xandar. [ No bars tonight, he decided. Too much of a chance of running into someone who might want something from him. ]
no subject
You've been here before, right?
no subject
Save the galaxy here once. [ He waves a free hand. ] No big deal.

Best to maybe divert the conversation a little for now- even if her conversation with Lilith was still tugging at the back of her mind. ]
Come on, Peter. I already used my one good joke about your ego. Do I need to think of another one?

[ By this time they've arrived at the restaurant -- more like a cafe, really -- with outdoor seating and dim lighting inside. It looks no less modern than the other buildings, but it's modestly decorated and a little out of the way. ]
You'll like this place, I think. Xandarian food isn't that different from Terran, and this place is-- uh, it's-- [ romantic-- intimate-- ] --cozy. It's cozy.
no subject
[ She gives the restaurant a once-over. Cozy, hm? ]
I'll try anything once. There wasn't exactly a lot of fine dining on Pandora.

I still need to get that screen grab framed. Thanks for the reminder.
no subject
I really don't think that's necessary.
