How It Works |
Sometimes, memes can be awkward. There's always that feeling that, if you don't know the person behind the curtain, you'll be intruding somehow. Don't worry. We've all been there. Still, it's nice to have that little reassurance that hey, it's cool. We're all in this together and we just want to play. That's where this meme comes in! The point here is to play with someone you've never played with before, OR play with a character/canon you're unfamiliar with. The prompts provided include mundane activities, chance meetings, platonic fluff, romance/smut, fighting, and crack. This is pretty much the granddaddy of meme variety, so there should be something for just about everyone. INSTRUCTIONS - Comment with you character(s). In the subject field, put all the info that's relevant + any preferences. - Reply to others. Remember, the goal is to play with new people! - The initial set of prompts is in this post. The subsequent sets are linked GoogleDocs. - Use the RNG to get your prompts. - Have fun! |

FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS IT:
Re: 2 - The story starts when your character hitchhikes
[OOC: Yes, yes they will]
River was doing her usual wander around the ship while the rest of the crew was handling some job or other and needed her out of the way. Normally not having Simon's full attention bothered River a little bit but today something else caught her attention. She moves through the storage room humming softy to herself.
"Where are you," she singsonged, "I know you're here...come out and say hello."
no subject
Still, she's following. Almost sniffing around, like a
(Dog.
Good Dog.)
From the ceiling, there's a brief flash of twin orbs.
no subject
River looks up a calm smile in place. "Hello," she says to the orbs, "who are you and how did you get here?"
no subject
"...Stitch."
They vanish, and the skittering continues deeper into the ship.
no subject
River giggles softly and gives chase, she knows the ship better then Mal at this point and can guess where the creature is headed by sound alone. "Come back Stitch I won't hurt you."
no subject
humantinygirl
and unlikely to be physically capable of harm. Still, she's pursuing, and that's... weird. He concentrates on speed, staying silent until there's a growl - not from him, but his stomach.
Shoot.
no subject
River smiles and pulls a biscut out of her dress pocket holding it out. "I have food," she says simply.
no subject
This is the part most people jump, yell whatisthat. Hopefully the tinyhuman will drop the biscuit.
It's not the best plan. He's hungry.
no subject
River kneels and creeps forward still holding out the biscuit cooing softly. "Oh aren't you pretty," she says in delight.
no subject
"Eh?"
no subject
River giggles. "You are pretty," she says brightly, "pretty...it's a good word....a nice word. Don't people say nice words to you?"
no subject
.. like someone else.
He shakes his head at the question.
"People not say 'pretty.' People say 'Eeeeeeeeeek!'"
no subject
"I'm not like most people, I'm broken....I think scary things are pretty," River says softly.
no subject
Then -
"You scared?"
She's certainly not acting afraid. He takes a few steps closer, eyes fixing on the food again.
no subject
"No," River says firmly, "no I'm not scared of you. I like you just like you are. Little and broken."
no subject
He considers her for a moment. Then -
"Why? Stitch could... be bad. Stitch could be breaking ship."
Because really, he's a strange creature running around in her home. (there's no questions it's hers, from the way she moves, walks, even sits still - she belongs here) Who knows what he could be up to?
no subject
River thinks about this, the response is an easy one but it's putting it into words that the creature can understand that she's having a problem with. "I was bad once too," she finally says, "I hurt people, but the crew of this ship doesn't care about that. They like me anyway, they are my family."
no subject
"Ohana."
The girl might not understand this word exactly. But the way he rolls it out, the longing in it, will probably get the meaning across.
no subject
River knew a lot but obscure Earth languages were more Simon's subject then hers. Still the word meant something to the creature and she nodded, "Family," she repeated, "we could be your family too since you lost yours."
no subject
How did she know that? How?!
Family - He had one. He knows he did. But when he tries to think of them, there's only pain.
He clutches at his head with all four arms.
no subject
River reaches out her hand. "Oh...did someone make you forget...."
no subject
The words are starting to get mixed up again.
He senses the hand coming toward him, but it's not moving fast enough to register as 'threat.'
no subject
"I don't like it when people hurt animals or other creatures," River says, "it's mean and wrong. I will never hurt you like that I promise."
no subject
But someone did.
He leans forward into the hand, letting her scratch if she wants.
"...Okay."
Then -
"What's your name?"
no subject
River does scratch behind the ears nice and gentle so as not to spook her new friend. "River...my name is River...what should I call you?"
