the ( sweet? ) picnic date meme
![]() ![]() Ahh, what a beautiful day. The sun is shining, the flying animals of your choice are making their noises, and the sky is, presumably, as blue as can be. Finally, a break from this awful weather! And you know what else? It's a perfect day for a picnic with your honey (or hopefully soon to be honey). There's nothing quite as romantic as a well-executed picnic, so if you want to make an impression or just have a good time, break out the food under the shade of a tree. The best part is that a picnic can be as unique as you two are: a beautiful spread on top of a blanket, burgers grabbed from the drive-through and eaten with your legs dangling from the backseat, or a heart meal of venison one of you hunted while you sit on the bodies of your enemies. All that's required is to enjoy the food and the peaceful time together. Of course, just because the idea is romantic doesn't mean it has to play out exactly that way. Maybe this is your first date and both of you are worried about what will come next - or one of you doesn't realize this is a date. Maybe one of you was dragged here against your will. Hey, have you heard about that swarm of Africanized killer bees? I hope they don't ruin your day. Isn't that your romantic rival? They're challenging you to a duel? And who are those kids in that green van, screaming about ghosts...? Ahh, what a wonderful day for a picnic. HOW TO PLAY

River Song | Doctor Who | OTA
.
Hello, Dear.

The birds aren't the only ones looking for romance, so with a wistful look on her face River looks up at the one face she loves most from her seat on a bench. "Why hello, Sweetie," says River, as she stands up from her seat to join him. "Why don't you let me give you a hand, so we can find a nice spot to be blissfully unaware of the rest of the world."

River by a river. He'll never get tired of that.
"Do you have the blanket?"
no subject
River reaches over to her bench to grab hold of the blanket that is on the bench. "Lead the way, and we can go over our journals before we get started."
no subject
"Is it everything you hoped for?"

As she takes in the breath taking view of the blooming flowers, she offers her hand out to her husband. "I couldn't have expected anything less from you," River warmly says, as she continues to take in the view of both the riverside and her beloved. "I was almost expecting for you to try for somewhere a bit more exotic, but you can't go wrong with the classics."

Then the Doctor settles down on the blanket, leaving plenty of room for River and their picnic.

She reaches her hand up and she places it against his cheek. "You're going to have to tell me what it is you do with normal."

She doesn't want to admit she's enjoying it, the crisp breeze as it blows through her hair. "And here I thought picnics were more about kissing and hugging." She winks suggestively at him in hopes he might want to take part in the old picnic tradition.

He wanted a nice afternoon with his wife, without all the usual stress and trouble that follows them around.
"Well, I thought they also involved food and talking, but I think I can manage the rest of it." And with that he leaned over to kiss his wife.
no subject
"Yes, but somehow I believe all of that is just a ruse," said River. It is when he kisses her that River's mind completely escapes where they are, but more to focus on whom she is with. And, River is not one to never kiss back as she places her hand on his cheek for support and as she takes in a breath of air, she leans forward to kiss him back.

It was also nice to enjoy the kiss for what it was. He missed spending these kinds of afternoons with her.

The kiss was nice; she loves getting time away from her own travels to spend time with him. She reaches her hand for the bottle of wine, and she goes to pop the cork. "If you want, we can spend the rest of the day just drinking wine and kissing."
no subject
Though he could do without the wine. That bit was for River.
no subject
"Me, you, and this fine bottle of wine." She places the bottle between them, and she then she goes to take a sip.

He was going to nurse his glass of wine all afternoon. It wasn't something he particularly enjoyed.
