The Carnival Meme

Who doesn't love a good carnival? The sights, the sounds, the...well, maybe not so much the smells. Going with your young siblings? Maybe you're taking your date for a good time! Maybe a friend dragged you along. Whoever you're there with, the important part is that you're having a good time!

1. The Midway!
Oh god, you want that stuffed unicorn so hard, it's just so incredible. Or perhaps you just want to show off to everyone else how AWESOME you are. Test of Strength? More like...Test of....Getting Owned With a Hammer. Whatever the reason, you're slapping down your cash and winning those games! ...If it's possible to win, that is.

2. Haunted House
PFFT! Who's scared?! These things are never that scary! ...Are they? That...That's not a real mummy, right? What was that sound?! ZOINKS!

3. Ferris Wheel
Did you ever wonder what the carnival looks like from such a high place? Or maybe you just want some alone time with your date. Do you find yourself thinking that this is a lot higher than it looked?

4. Fun House
What's so fun about it?! It's impossible to get through this stupid Hall of Mirrors! Agh, this tube is spinning, how can anyone stand up in this thing?! Wait, isn't that the same way you came from?!

5. Tunnel of Love
Awww, yiss. You're lookin' for a little bit of alone time, even if you are in a tiny, bird-shaped boat surrounded by shallow, dirty water. Or maybe your friends shoved you in before you had time to react. Have fun, love birds!

6. Carnival food!
Cotton Candy, corndogs, popcorn, ice cream, candy apples...! It's all so terrible and bad for you, but it tastes so good! You don't even know what that over there is, but it's deep fried and looks delicious in the most disgusting way. Be careful that you don't make yourself sick!

7. Petting Zoo
CUTE ANIMALS! You want to pet all of them! Or maybe the person you're with wants to. Though, whether the animals really want to be petted or not is another matter.

8. GRAVITRON!
Standing inside a giant ring that’s spinning at high speeds with no restraints. Yes. This is a good idea. Somehow. Hope you didn’t eat first.

9. Working
You’re not having fun because you’re WORKING here. Somehow, you got roped into this. Maybe you LOVE working here, SELLING DREAMS TO CHILDREN~! Or maybe you’ve had enough of being in the dunking booth or wearing that doofy animal costume. Maybe your friends won’t laugh too hard at you.

10. Other
You have other ideas? Play out those Carnival shenanigans!

[ He really doesn't know how they got to this point, but he guesses that all the walking around would eventually lead them here, right? It could have been avoidable if he'd paid attention to where they've been going and directed Sora away but. Obviously that didn't happen.

Roxas eyes the sign above the entrance way: Petting Zoo.

The blond doesn't have anything against animals, just. Well he doesn't have a great fondness for them either. Besides, what can they really do here other than look or pet an animal or two? ]

Um, Sora? Do you.. want to head somewhere else?

[Sora had really wanted to stop by the petting zoo first. It's a relaxing way to start before all of the carnival food and the rides, and really, it's fun. So she'll frown and look over her shoulder.]

...You don't want to?

[ He sort of freezes when she looks at him, a little unsure of how the other will react when he tells the truth. But then when he tries to imagine Sora's reaction to said truth well. He doesn't want to deal with something he doesn't even know how to deal with. ]

I, uh... [ scratching head now ] I just thought you might want to do something else first?

[ Lame follow up, Roxas. Real lame. ]

It's okay, we can do something else first! I just usually find it more relaxing to start here. That, and we don't smell like food.

[She'll turn around fully now, arms resting behind her head casually. They can go elsewhere! She's perfectly fine with it! they're here to have fun, after all.]

[ Great, now he feels bad because she really did seem to want to go to the petting zoo first. He's not sure how coming here first would be relaxing but. If she thinks so... ]

But, you wanted to come here, right? Might as well, since we're here and all.

[ Caving in. Roxas guesses he can't ever really say no, since Sora is always so accommodating already. And. He really doesn't want to disappoint. ]

[She smiles, gentle this time, before taking his hand. She leads him in, and then buys a handful of feed, stored neatly in a cup.]

Come on. Wanna see the rabbits or chicks first?

[ Which one is least likely to cause trouble? He wonders as he follows after her, the protest dying on his lips at her buying the feed but then. They have the rest of the carnival to explore too so. ]

..Rabbits. Let's go see them first.

[ They're harmless, right? Right. ]

All right, come on.

[And then she takes his hand again, loosely, to lead him to the rabbits. It's a nice little area, and there are a few rabbits of varying sizes and colors. She'll bend down, setting the little cup of food down on the ground to attract some of the animals.]

Come on. They're nice and soft.

[ Oh he's sure they're soft, but whether they're nice is a different story. Still, this is something that Sora wants and who is he to refuse? So he kneels down next to her, tentative to touch, but eventually his fingers do reach the soft fur of one when it comes close enough, lured by the food being offered. ]

I guess..this is okay.

[ Look, he might even be smiling a little as he strokes the rabbit's back. ]

[That'll have Sora laughing.]

They probably won't bite, if that's what you're worried about. They're trained, raised on human handling. So you'd have to, say... Pull a tail to get anything other than complacency and curiosity.

[See? She'll even pick up one of the bigger, pudgier rabbits so other, smaller ones get at the food.]

[ He let's out a small laugh, the tension he hadn't know that'd been in his shoulders easing at her words. They always did have this kind of affect on him and it's just nice to know that he won't get bitten by the gentle animals. Looking at her, seeing that smile, Roxas' is glad to just go along with coming here.

As long as Sora's happy, it's fine. ]

Yeah, I'm getting that now. Don't know why I was hesitant before.

[ Maybe a part of him knows still, but he'll push that aside. If it's just harmless animals, then he can deal with it, no problem. And if it brings a smile to Sora's face, even better. ]

But I'll make sure not to pull any tails.

Didn't think so.

[Finally, she lets the big rabbit go, and he hops off in search of food, stopping by Roxas first. But when there is none, he hops off elsewhere. The smaller ones, though, are far more curious about their guests now that they're fed. They hop around and wiggle their little noses curiously, practically swarming the two in trying to figure out who they are.]

I think they like you, Roxas.

Really?

[ Looking down at the small bunnies, he wonders if what Sora said is right, though he finds it hard to believe if it is. He's not.. the most social person and considering what he is well. That's understandable now more than ever. Who could like a Nobody?

Sora does.

Roxas glances at the brunet and can't help but give a small smile. Yeah, there's at least one person who does. And really, that's all he needs to know. ]

I guess they do. Either that or they're just hungry and want more food.

Well, at least they're not running away.

[Sora picks up a couple of bunnies carefully, laughing a bit and nuzzling into the soft fur of one.]

...One day, we should get one.

[And then she'll put them down and stand, dusting herself off.]

Come on. We still have some chicks to see. I think you'll like them.

[ Roxas gives the bunnies one last look before standing up, giving himself a mental note about the possibility of getting a bunny. If Sora likes one enough to say that, well. He isn't one to pass up the chance to make the other happy. ]

The chicks?

[ Hadn't he decided that those are the greater of the two evils?

But then the bunnies hadn't been so bad so if they're anything like them then he'll like them enough. Just as long as they didn't constantly peck or try to bite him or anything. He did not want to be nursing bruised fingers. ]

Alright, let's go then.

[ And this time he'll buy the feed. ]
