THE AMNESIA MEME

Ah, amnesia. The old standby for soap operas, it usually involves a good knock on the head and a complete loss of memory. Ever wanted to do that to your character? Well, now's your chance.

1. Comment with your characters!
2. Others comment. Optionally, go to RNG and roll the scenario. (As to who gets knocked on the head, well, that's up to you!)

4. PROFIT.

1. HEAD-ON COLLISION - ...whoops. It was an honest mistake, really! You didn't see that car/tree/post/person/whatever coming, but now you're stumbling out of the wreckage sans memory. Better ask for help.

2. WAIT, WHO ARE YOU? - Okay, so a while ago, you got into...something that caused you to lose your memory. Fortunately, you managed to get by and create a new identity for yourself. Unfortunately, someone new has just entered your life. Or should I say, someone who's a little too familiar...

3. RINSE AND REPEAT - Sigh. Really, this is just so inconvenient. You wake up everyday with no memory of who you are, and have to figure it out over the course of the day, only to fall asleep and have to do it all over again the next day. Good thing someone's there to help you out, right? And what's with all those post-its and notes?

4. THIS ROOM'S TOO WHITE - Welcome to the hospital. You've got an "Unknown" tag on your wrist, a healthy diet of bland hospital food, a steady trickle of doctors coming in to check up on you, and a TV, and nothing else. Looks like someone's coming to help you today, though! Here's to hoping they knew you before you lost your memory.

5. I'M SUPPOSED TO DO WHAT?! - Oh, crap. There's something only you can do right now--that is, the you who didn't lose your memory, anyway. Better figure out a way out of this mess and how to control your strange abilities before it's too late.

6. FIGHTING FOR THE WRONG SIDE - Uh, oh. Looks like your enemies decided to take advantage of your confused state and convinced you that you're on their side. Here's to hoping your allies can get you back to yourself before you cause some serious damage.

7. JUST TOO TRAUMATIC - You just saw something that's so traumatic you lost your memory because of it. Unfortunately, right now, you have to remember it, or else something really bad happens. Hope you don't regret remembering this!

8. I DON'T WANT THIS - You've been living a peaceful, ordinary life, for a while. And you'd rather it stay that way, because you're not sure if you'd want to remember what went before. Unfortunately, something's coming, and the key to stopping it lies in your memories.

9. NO SUCH THING - Maybe you were a wizard, or a werewolf, or an angel, or a demon, or something else entirely before, or maybe you just knew about the masquerade. Sadly, you've been knocked on the head and now believe yourself to be a perfectly ordinary person. Magic? That doesn't exist, right? Anything can be explained with science, after all! Right?

10. I'M WHO?! - And who the hell are you? Basically, this is the wild card option! Combine one of the above or make up a new one or whatever you want! Go wild!

#2 so AU and they're married?

It had been just over six months since Sam had been abducted and left with no memory whatsoever of her past. She'd been given a new identity along with a new family--a father and a sister who Jack would recognize as enemies of his. They kept her in NYC for some odd reason, just moving her to Brooklyn. She worked two jobs, one as a waitress and one as a clerk in a little market down the street from her tiny studio apartment. While she couldn't remember her past, she did have bits and pieces of it pop into her head but she dismissed them, not knowing she was Sam.

Today was just like every other day in her life when this attractive looking man came into the market, she found herself watching him but so far, he hadn't seen her.

Jack was working to get his wife back. Nights were lonely without her. He stopped off to get some things for another night alone. It was when he walked up to the register and looked up he saw her. "Sam?"

She watched him until he went further back into the store and then she got distracted with a customer. She was standing behind the counter picking at her nails when Jack walked up and she looked confused. "No, I'm Jenny." If he noticed, she still had her tongue pierced. She also had the butterfly tattoo on her lower back and the dragonfly low on her hip she'd had when they met a couple years before.

He saw everything and his brow furrowed as he fished around his wallet. He pulled out their wedding picture. "No you are Samantha Bauer, formerly Flack." He looked at her. "You've been missing for six months."

She took the picture and studied it a moment as she listened to him, looking back up when he said she'd been missing. "I've been missing? Are you sure you have the right person?" she asked, looking down at the picture again. Even with her questions, she had no doubt that was her in the picture.

"On your lower back you have a butterfly tattoo. And my favorite is a dragonfly on your hip I used to brush my lips over it." He watched her with a sad smile.

Anybody could see the butterfly tattoo because she wore her pants low enough and most of her shirts high enough but the dragonfly...she had to be naked for anybody to see that. "There's no way you could know about the dragonfly." she sighed, so confused about things now. "We're really married?"

"Yes we are. I'm Jack." He wanted to hold her, feel her close. "Me and your brother have been looking for you."

"Jack..." She said it out loud in the hopes it would ring a bell but it didn't, neither did hearing she had a brother. "I don't have a brother, just a dad and a sister." She fished her purse out out from under the counter and pulled out a picture, handing it to him. It was of her, her "dad", and her "sister".

"They aren't your real family. He is." He took a picture out of her and Don. "He's a cop with the NYPD."

She looked at the picture of her and Don, noticing the same blue eyes. He looked like her family, not them. She looked up at Jack with tears in her eyes, so confused now. "Nothing in my life is real?"

Oh god. Jack always hated it when Sam would cry and he felt his chest tighten. He really wanted to hold her, let her know everything was going to be okay. "Not the things you know. I don't know what they did. I just know they took you away from us."

[sammmy]

Right now she didn't know how much her tears bothered him and here they were sliding down her cheeks. She couldn't help but feel so alone right now and she backed up collapsing on the chair behind her. "Now what do I do?"

He moved over to her and gently wiped her tears away. "I take you home and we try to figure out what happened."

[sammmy]

She looked up at him and into his eyes, trying so hard to remember him. "I need to get my st..." She didn't finish that sentence since it was obvious nothing in her apartment was really hers except one thing. "I need to tell my boss I'm leaving and we have to go get Charlie." She headed to the back to tell her boss she needed to leave, grabbing her jacket and walking back out front to Jack.

"Who is Charlie?" Jack walked with her. "I'll go in with you."

"Oh, he's my cat. Is that okay? Did we already have one?" She hadn't even thought about whether he liked cats or not. She'd just gotten Charlie so she wasn't so lonely, having no idea she never had one because Don was allergic. "My place is just down the street. It's not much and it's tiny." It wasn't a block away so they walked, Sam leading him up a flight of stairs to her place over a small dry cleaning shop. Unlocking the door, she flipped on the light and when she said tiny, she meant it. Their bedroom was bigger than her entire apartment.

"I think your brother is allergic but I don't mind a cat at all. Is he okay with a dog?" Jack looked around at the place she had been living.

"We have a dog?" she asked, gathering up everything she needed for Charlie. He wasn't a shy cat so the big gray tabby walked right up to Jack, rubbing against his legs. "He should be okay. He'd been around dogs before I got him." She grabbed a bag and gathered up some clothes, just her favorites and a few other things, including getting Charlie in his carrier. She looked around the small room at everything else and then at Jack. "This is all I need."

Jack bent down and picked up the carrier with Charlie inside. "I had just gotten you a puppy before you disappeared."

She tossed her bag over her shoulder and gasped, "You got me a puppy? What kind is he? What's his name?" While she was still trying to grasp she had this whole other life, she had so many questions. Once they left the apartment, they headed out and she followed Jack back toward the market, guessing he had a car.

Jack smiled walking with her to his car messaging Don to let him know he found Sam. "He's a husky mix. His name is Bailey. He's brown and tan, you said he reminded you of Bailey's." He chuckled and smiled.

"He's getting big, isn't he?" she asked before blurting out her next words. "Bailey's Irish Cream." She knew exactly what that was but not for the reason Jack would think. "That's so weird because I've been saving up money to go to bartender school. I had a few books on different drinks and stuff. Did I want to be a bartender before, too?"

"You used to be a bartender actually. You worked for media relations for the NYPD. Your brother helped you get the job." He opened the car door for her. He hoped he'd get his wife back, if not he'd try and get her to fall for him all over again. He wouldn't force anything.
