how about a stiles is derek's emissary au that's vague on timeline things.
But, he wasn't complaining about the way things had flipped, though he suspected it had a lot more to do with the vet than he was willing to admit. Deaton was better about communicating with Scott than he was with anyone else, so it worked out in the end.
For the most part, at least. In truth, Derek got along with Stiles more than he did with Deaton. And the two of them were in a better place than they had been the year before, so spending time around one another wasn't headache inducing anymore.
That didn't mean Derek was used to texts that reminded him to run any potentially stupid plans by Stiles before rushing into things. Or ones that had questions about coming to the loft. He still replied and told Stiles that he could, but he had no idea what to expect from the phrase 'I need to show you something.'
what is time? what are lines?
He wanted to show Derek, since as Derek's emissary (oh my god, how weird was that), he figured the Alpha had the right to know first. So he showed up at the loft, bouncier than usual and with a glint in his eye and a smile on his face that he couldn't get rid of no matter how hard he tried. "Hey, Derek? Derek. Derek!"

When he came down the spiral stairs, he raised his eyebrows at the greeting he was getting. "You know I heard my name the first time you said it, right?" Derek moved toward the couch. "Come on. Show me."
no subject
Truthfully, he did look wound up, almost vibrating as he came over to the couch, dancing from foot to foot in front of it. "Are you sure? Sure you can handle it? Because it's pretty cool. I better get a damn good reaction, because if all you do is look and go 'huh', I swear to god I will kick you in your wolfy nuts. Got it?"
no subject
"Got it. Just show me already." His eyes remained fixed on Stiles as he waved a hand to urge him on, ready to see what was so exciting.

He was like an eager little puppy-child, wanting to make sure mom was watching before he belly flopped off the high board.

"I wanna see what you're showing me. Don't vibrate away," he commented, letting go of Stiles then glancing down at his hand, raising his eyebrows as he waited.

He opened his right hand, cupping his palm like he had something in it as he held it in front of him. He looked down at it, taking in a few slow breaths as he concentrated.
Nothing happened. Well, at least that's what it looked like. But after a few moments, there was a small fizzling sound. Then sparks started to sputter out of his hand, a little sparking ball of energy springing to life, throwing off light and flecks of energy before it dimmed and died.
"See?"
no subject
Things were uneventful for a few moments, but then Derek heard it. And he stared, eyes widening at the way Stiles was making it happen. It wasn't a trick or some kind of joke.
Once it died off, he slowly lifted his eyes to stare at Stiles, mouth hanging open just slightly.
"Holy shit. Holy shit."

"How big do you think you'll be able to make that later?"

After a few more seconds, he reached out and grabbed Stiles' shoulders to try to ground him. "Pretty sure you're gonna start bouncing off the walls if you keep it up."
