01] baby

02] just married
Congratulations! You and your loved (?) one are about to start a whole new life together! It's time for the honeymoon...
03] house hunting
Are you seeking out an apartment? A dream house? Or just any old place, as long as you're with your other? Make sure to weigh your options very carefully...
04] household chores
It's time to clean/cook/garden/take care of something! Do you work together, or does one of you hide until everything is done?
05] shopping
Whether it's for furniture, groceries, or something in between, shopping is something that everybody must do at some point in time! What varies is if they like it or not.
06] family vacation
WE'RE OFF TO DIDNEY WOOOOOOOOORL or wherever
... well, as long as the kids are happy, right...? You may not be happy (or maybe you are), but it's mainly about ~family bonding~.
07] romantic retreat
It's you and your loved one's anniversary, and you decide it's time to take some time off and take them somewhere nice, where you only have each other.
08] comfort
Is somebody sick in bed? Or perhaps they just had a bad day? Sometimes, a good breakfast in bed or a home-cooked meal can really lift the spirits! Or perhaps you want to try medicine, or laughter, or something else?
09] pet
Suddenly, you have another addition to the family! Is it a puppy? A kitty? A fierce dragon? Whatever it is, make sure to give it a name and to take good care of it!
10] holiday
Happy birthday/New Years/Christmas/Valentine's Day/whatever! It's a very special day that only comes once a year, so make it count!
11] argument
Oh, no, who left the stove on... Or maybe it's about why they were out late last night? Either way, there is a lot of tension today, and one of you may or may not be sleeping on the couch tonight.
12] making up
It's time to make amends for that fight/divorce/whatever you had before! After all, you love each other... right?
13] surprise, surprise
You are feeling rather loving tonight, so you want to remind the other person how much you cherish and appreciate them... if it's by something cute and adorable or hot and sexy is completely up to you.
14] proposal
You've been with your other for what feels like forever, and finally you want to tie the knot with them. Will you go down on one knee before them, or get a little creative?
15] other
anything else!
eight.
[ he's... exaggerating. a bit. handing him another box of tissues, levi sits down again in the chair next to erwin's bed and crosses his legs before giving him a critical look. ]
no subject
You understand that it wasn't intentional. I'll do my best, but there are some things beyond a man's control.
[Like sneezing. Erwin withdraws a tissue and presses it to his nose. He doesn't feel another sneeze coming on, but he turns away from Levi just in case.]
I'm sorry to hear that the prognosis is so grim.
[His wryness is somewhat dampened by the pain in his sinuses as he leans back against the pillows.]
At least you haven't abandoned me to my fate yet.
no subject
Like I said, no one else is gonna watch you lie in your own sweat to make sure you don't die yet.
[ he sighs and crosses his arms, slouching a little in the chair. ] You're lucky I'm still here.
no subject
[You are a prince, Levi, a prince.]
I'd like to think there's more than one person who cares whether I live or die.
I feel absurdly lucky. Painfully lucky.
[He says this with a straight face.]
no subject
levi sneers in response, half-hearted. ] You should.
[ he casts his glance around, and then at the disarrayed sheets with considerable distaste. ] You'll need a new set soon, at the rate you're losing bodily fluids. Gross.
no subject
[He closes his eyes for a moment.]
I do. Believe me. I might be one of the luckiest men alive.
[Although whether he means that's because he's managed to survive for so long (in spite of dealing with terrible bedside manners) or for some other reason, he doesn't elaborate.]
I'm afraid it's the usual thing, when someone's sick. I admire your fortitude in remaining so long.
[He smiles, weakly. He should probably feel flattered that Levi would brave so many bodily fluids for his sake, and it amuses him rather than offending him. He closes his eyes again as a feverish wave of heat washes over him. It's no wonder Levi is so appalled. He can feel the sweat standing on his skin. Whatever it is he's caught, it's no simple cold.]
no subject
I'm a fucking martyr. [ he eyes erwin's forehead, seeing the perspiration standing out. he doesn't really want to get anywhere near that, but he pulls a handkerchief out from erwin's own jacket and drops it neatly over his face.
...that's perhaps slightly unfortunate placement for a white handkerchief, but levi moves on. ]
It'll pass. You don't get dirty enough to get anything really serious.
no subject
You're a model to us all.
Yes, I'll survive, I've survived worse than this. And coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment.
[It's almost as much as saying he's clean, which is surely high praise from Levi. As Levi said, whatever this is isn't so bad. It's surely not going to kill him, so it's of little consequence. It's not the illness itself Erwin minds, or the pain, so much as the fact that it keeps him from his duty. It hadn't been his idea to stay in bed. There's always something to be done, and every moment he's not out there doing it puts his men and others in more danger. Everyone's efforts are needed, and there's no time for rest. As he mops the sweat away, he does feel slightly better. He sits up.]
I shouldn't be here. I should go back to work.
no subject
but now, erwin's trying to get up, which is unacceptable. scowling sharply, levi sits up as well. ]
Shut up, you should be here. Get back down. [ does he have to shove you down? he may be much smaller, but he can still take down the commander when he's this sick, even if it means he'll have to touch someone who's sick. (gross.) ]
no subject
You said it yourself. It's not serious.
[Those were Levi's very words. Which is what Erwin had been thinking, and the confirmation is enough to galvanize him. He shouldn't be out of commission for anything less than life-threatening, right? Not when other people's lives are on the line. It's ridiculous. He shouldn't be lying here as if he's on holiday when there's so much to be done.]
I'll be fine.
[Just--going to--get up... (He's really not a very good patient.)]
no subject
[ erwin. erwin, no, don't even try to get up. levi rocks to his feet, takes the small step to the bed, and hovers as menacingly as he can. ]
If you're so intent on doing your stupid paperwork, I'll bring it to you.
Just don't stand up or else you'll probably fall over and break your skull.
[ that's definitely an exaggeration, but he can see the feverish sheen and uncertainty in the commander's movements. so — just reaching over and setting his hands on erwin's shoulders and just pushing him to sit down again. ]
no subject
[Levi can manage menacing quite well, but Erwin is a difficult man to dissuade. He continues to try to get up, but when Levi pushes him down, he realizes how weakened he is. The motion wasn't particularly forceful, but he suddenly falls back, lying down on the bed, his breathing growing more labored. He starts to cough, but fortunately manages to turn away from Levi in time. He picks up the handkerchief and presses it to his face.
That hadn't gone as well as he'd expected. He doesn't try to get up again. Not yet.]
I doubt I'd break my skull. [He has a very hard head, after all. He can admit to that.] I might dent it a bit.
[Getting up is undeniably out of the question at the moment, but he does consider that offer of paperwork. It is difficult to keep the man from his paperwork.]
I should try to do some work.
[Or maybe he shouldn't. His (imagined) recovery is quickly deteriorating. He feels hot all over again.]
no subject
Yeah, dent it and ruin that perfect box you have going on. Terrible.
[ doing paperwork is certainly less dangerous than actually getting to his feet. levi considers it. he did offer, after all, to bring it over.
...well, it probably won't hurt him that much to read. however... ]
You'll get your sweaty fingers all over it. What if the ink runs?
no subject
[He's able to speak as his coughs subside, and he lowers the handkerchief--his handkerchief now, as he knows Levi isn't going to be wanting it back.]
And what if it doesn't? If it runs, I'll stop. There are worse things than a little sweat.
[He's sure a few smudges will be the least of anyone's worries. He doubts they'll be noticed. Sometimes, in his more cynical moods, he wonders whether anyone higher up actually reads his careful reports, but that won't stop him from taking them seriously.]
no subject
[ really, he doesn't. the way erwin's hair stays so perfectly coiffed is bewildering.
levi sighs deeply like it hurts him to agree. ] Then I'll probably have to write for you, and no one likes reading my handwriting.
[ but he goes towards the door, all the same, brushing his hands off despite the lack of dust on them. ] Don't try and get up unless you need to piss.
no subject
[IT IS JUST A MYSTERY OF THE AGES.
Erwin doesn't know why others would find it strange. It's easy for him to maintain, and surely someone who prides himself on cleanliness like Levi would understand maintaining a neat hairstyle. Even his illness has barely managed to ruffle it.]
If you have problems with your handwriting, then practice is just the thing for it.
[He's joking, though it might not carry in his tone, as he's too weak for actual merriment.]
Doctor's orders, is it? [He leans back, letting his eyes fall closed again.] I won't move.
no subject
levi guesses that erwin's just poking fun at him, but he only sighs and opens the door. ]
Good.
[ he casts a final glance at the commander's prone form before leaving. most of the paperwork is in erwin's office, so it's a few minutes before he returns with a sheaf of papers and writing utensils. he doesn't knock before entering again, just shoves the door open with his shoulder and goes back over to the bed. ]
So can you handle reading?
no subject
Erwin doesn't move while Levi's gone. He feels rather hot again, and he doesn't feel inclined to try getting up again--even though this would be the perfect opportunity to do so, without Levi to push him back down.
When Levi comes back in, it takes him a moment to respond, but his eyes do open. His vision is a bit fuzzy, but it's not enough to impair him.]
No, but I fake it very well. I've fooled everyone all these years.
[The fever may have made him a little giddier than usual.]
no subject
[ he shuffles through the papers, pulling out the ones that need to be dealt with most urgently and bringing them to the front. ]
These have to be done first. I'll read the others and summarize them for you, since you clearly can't handle this much right now.
[ pausing for a second, he gives erwin a critical once-over. ]
If you feel too dizzy, stop before you throw up. I don't want to ask for replacements to these papers.
no subject
[No one gives Erwin a break. Not that he minds. He doesn't expect to be given one. If he'd wanted breaks that much, he wouldn't have accepted his assignment as commander.
He reaches for the papers, sobering at once. There's work to be done. He feels a little better, but it could be another trick of his mind...]
I'm perfectly capable of handling it.
I'll take your advice under advisement.
[He'd rather not have to get replacements himself. That would provide additional hassles.]
no subject
Once you finish those, I'll pass them onto Central Office.
[ he settles back into his seat and starts going through some of the less urgent papers. being industrious, for once. he wants to finish paperwork as soon as possible. ]
no subject
[Erwin sits up and settles back to read, and it all seems to be going well enough, at first. He feels emboldened enough to take his pen and start to fill some of the papers out.
Suddenly, he starts to feel dizzy again. He closes his eyes, swaying slightly, and before he quite knows what's happening, there's ink all over his sheets.
That didn't go as planned...]
Damn.
no subject
Fucking hell, Erwin.
[ DEEP SIGH. ]
We're never gonna get that out of the sheets.
[ he puts down his papers and leans over the bed to look at the spilled ink. yeah, that's not going to wash out. ] I'm gonna have to get a new set, but I doubt you can stand up.
no subject
[Levi is clearly much more concerned about the state of his sheets than Erwin is. It's almost endearing, in an odd way. Erwin is fortunate he enjoys odd gestures, considering his line of work.
He makes a weak gesture with one hand, as if to wave Levi away.]
A little ink won't harm me. I can manage.
[He'll just keep on working, lying on inky, sweaty sheets. He's worked through worse.]
no subject
[ his lips purse, and for second he looks annoyed enough to rip the sheets off of the bed, disregarding his commander's fragile state. after a few seconds of more reasonable consideration, though, he reaches out for the papers erwin's holding. ] You can sit in a chair for a few minutes, can't you? Besides, clean sheets will make you feel better.
[ and if erwin doesn't want to, he'll just lay the back of his hand over erwin's forehead, frowning more deeply at the slight dampness. ]
And wash your face if you can. Fucking disgusting.
