The Piggyback Ride Meme

Ahhh. The immortal piggyback ride. So versatile, there are so many uses for it—to transport the injured and the beloved, as a means of showing affection, and to even play. It's not just for romance. It can be done between parent and child, siblings, friends, medic and patient, even complete strangers and, in those rare moments, mortal enemies! Just be sure the person can carry you, yeah?

How this works:
→ Leave a comment with the usual information in the subject line: character name, fandom. Any preferences, including what you don't want, should be included as well. If you want, indicate if you want your character to Carry, Be Carried, or Both.
→ Congratulations. Your character is one half of a piggyback ride with whoever tags them!
→ Tag around.
→ Feel free to roll RNG (1-9) if you cannot come up with scenarios of your own.
→ Have fun, and be excellent to each other!

• 1 — Injury. (You can't walk like that. Here, let me carry you . . . )
• 2 — Romantic. (Obligatory shippy option.)
• 3 — Escape. (You're on the run and one of you is moving too slow or can't move at all!)
• 4 — Surprise! (That back right there? I'm going to jump the fuck on it and they don't even know it yet!)
• 5 — Duty. (EMT, military and disaster recovery personnel, firemen, etc. are sometimes required to carry civilians like this.)
• 6 — Game. (Chicken fight, park games, made-up games, whatever!)
• 7 — Wasted. (Go home, you're drunk. Except you can't walk . . . )
• 8 — Platonic or Familial. (It's such a beautiful day, can I carry you?)
• 9 — Fuck da police. (In other words, the random/whatever option.)

[Admittedly, Utena doesn't know much about Miki's sister, hasn't really gotten to know her. She isn't sure Kozue wants anyone to know much about her. Utena likes Miki, finds him charming in an innocent sort of way, but Kozue is different.

Kozue makes her a little uncomfortable. It's not a discomfort she actively notices or acknowledges, and she tells herself it's silly, anyway. What harm was Miki-kun's little sister? It was just Utena's overactive imagination, lately.

They're in this current situation by chance. One wrong misstep during a volleyball match, and here Kozue was, with a twisted ankle. At least it hadn't been her falling from a building, this time. But Utena had been in the area, and Miki wasn't around, so she'd taken it upon herself to help Kozue home.

It had all been very gallant. There had been a few envious glances thrown Kozue's way, but Utena didn't notice anything like that (she never did). Kozue's a little lighter than Wakaba, more fragile. All small-boned, like a bird.

She weighs barely anything at all, if Utena doesn't think much on it.]

Say, Kozue-chan, are you alright back there? If I'm moving too quickly, just tell me.

[It's an interesting situation, Kozue has to admit to herself. She knows of Utena - most of the girls in the middle school do, after all. She's spoken with her a few times and she knows that Miki is friends with her (sort of). She's athletic and brash and everything that her brother isn't, so she's always been at a loss as to why Miki likes the other girl. There was a moment, once upon a time, where she'd wondered if Miki had been interested in her and then she'd very quickly dismissed the idea.

Miki only had eyes for Himemiya.

Still, the thought of what Miki might think if he saw Utena carrying her home (she's reminded of the time that she fell and they'd all trooped home in a little line; she'd been able to imagine that she had Miki for herself then, if only for a little while) makes her lips curve into a smile. Would he be worried? Would he want to try and comfort her?

It'd get his attention, surely. At least until the worry faded and then she'd go back to being his little sister, the one who fades into the background while he continues to shine. That sours her mood and she tries to make up for that by leaning forward so she can plant her chin on Utena's shoulder.

She should be polite to her savior, after all. Even if it was only a turned ankle.]

You're fine, Utena-kun. Although you're probably starting to think that I'm a bit clumsy!

[To be fair, she fell from a second-story window the first time. But it's part of being the good, polite sister. At least for now.]

[The trek to the Kaoru residence is longer than Utena remembers. She is forced to think now, on the odd duel she and Miki had engaged in, the very last one, and dimly wonders why Kozue was there. She had never asked, had she?

She almost asks now, but then Kozue speaks up, and the thought fades from Utena's mind like smoke. The duels were just strange. That was the beginning and the end of it.]

No, not at all. Honestly, the first time...I think it was pretty brave of you, saving those birds and all. Not a lot of people would've done that, especially with it being so dangerous.

[She smiles a little. Bravery, even of the foolish, impulsive sort, was a trait Utena admired.] It's a good thing I was around this time, though. You don't wanna walk around with a busted ankle.
