[It's...what? Cal is so used to pushing back against anything that might bring him worldly pleasure, aside from things like good food or the warmth of his new family.

Attachment is a warning that lingers always at the forefront of his mind, the dangers associated with the concept drilled into his head practically from the first day he arrived at the Temple. Cal knows he's toed the line ever since he started making friends on Bracca, ever since he realized that people like Prauf really meant something to him.

If Master Tapal were still alive, Cal doesn't know what he would say about his apprentice now. It's so difficult to form conclusions about things one can't mold with one's own hands, especially if those conclusions are all hypothetical, anyway.

And then there's Merrin, wonderful, dangerous, brilliant Merrin. She's saved his life in more ways than one and always sets his singular heart racing by just existing. He is absolutely attached to her, but she's his lifeline when the darkness threatens him. Maybe that's a bad thing, some sign that he's let himself stray too far from what he knows.

But then again...]

I know it has been difficult for you to sort of which parts of your Jedi teachings still make sense given everything that's changed. I will not press the matter if it has to do with that.
