Who doesn't love a good monster?

How you go about this meme is entirely up to you. Your character can go full on beast mode, or we can see a vampire who looks as normal as you or me. Looks can be whatever, so don't feel as if you have to follow the classic tropes [unless you want to]! Mix-and-match prompts, roll the dice, create a totally new monsterized version of your character, and live your best October life.

[more interested conceptually in "something happened and you're a monster forever now/until you get some funky cure" than the back-and-forth from the first set of options, but i'm not against it. especially interested in vampires, aliens, demons, really weird mutant stuff, and zombies, but pretty much down for whatever if you've got a fave. 18+ for the horny option.]

Well, ever since that house just outside of town, into the woods around the mountains, started getting called 'haunted' with rumours of the local biker gangs using it as a hang out spot.

And with everyone else deciding that nope, they couldn't go, they had too much paper work to do, or had to do some particular shift or errand... the job fell to Dojima to investigate.

...By the time he'd made it to the building, it was already dusk. Cigarette hanging from his lips, he sighed, shifting his weight onto one foot as he checked the light of his flashlight again.

"...Good enough."

There was an odd chill in the air, he'd note, as he came to the open door, noting with a frown...

Huh, those hinges looked new. Odd.

A sweep of his flashlight over the room, noting it seemed frozen in time--more than most of Inaba was, anyway. Reminding him of his own childhood home as he stepped over the threshold.

A convenience of the countryside meant she could so easily slip away from the public eye when that time arose. For as long as it had started, but it should have been expected. Once she could hear the dead, she'd always wondered - and as that power grew in strength, how could she had been anything else? It would just be a few days; until the moon waned to half again, but this might complicate work.

Blue eyes aglow, she turned her head slightly. A voice... a recently familiar voice. Wonderful; and here she thought clearing out the biker gang would be enough to stop any investigation going forward. But in a small town with slow days, she supposed this was all there was to do.

Oh, what to do? He would not leave well enough alone if she just left. The detective was a persistent man.

... Crossing her arms and turning further where she stood, maybe one day she would let him understand. Tonight just would not be that day.

He was a persistent man, it's true. The beam of light sweeping over the room, looking over each shelf, the table, even in any vases or jars that weren't totally cracked the pieces.

It did look like someone had been in here recently, he noted. Dust in some areas were swept away, but it wasn't ... as messy as it could be. Like someone had tried to clean the place...

One more sweep of the main room, he'd then move onto the next, light sweeping through the doorway--

She'd caught his eye just as he caught on. The wings on her back shifted; she'd only raised one hand to make the command before crossing her arms again, clawed fingers curling lightly over her bicep.

Honestly, wandering into a demon's temporary abode... not that he'd known better. Black horns curling from waves of silver, elongated ear tips peeking out among the mess; if left aware, he would put the two-and-two together that his pale co-worker had long been his way, but he wouldn't be ready to process long, whipping tail or taloned feet being real.

"... Well, how unexpected. Couldn't leave rumors be. And I thought you weren't one for gossip."

The flash light fell from his fingers, rolling on the floor away from him as he stood there, unmoving.

He didn't make a move. Didn't make a sound as he stared ahead, taking in everything and nothing, those usual brown eyes glowing silvery blue, hooding slightly.

That voice... sounded familiar, though...

"...I'm not."

Said softly. His usual rough tone subdued. Placid--

"Orders no one wanted to do. Someone had to."

"And they managed to convince a senior officer to do it..."

She clicked her tongue and stepped back, taking a seat in a lone chair long since left in the small house. She'd have to leave it behind - too bad. That aside, his co-workers needed to shape up constantly expecting him to take on these jobs.

"You should've insisted. Don't you have a daughter to go home to? Aren't they aware of this?"

"Ghost stories get people spooked. I don't believe in ghosts."

Said simply. Although his expression, which had softened into one of relaxation, took on a slight frown. There was... something, odd about saying that in this situation, wasn't there...?

He couldn't keep track of that thought long, however, following on to the next question she asked.

"I did. Multiple times. Finally said I'd do a quick sweep and that's it." So he'd tried to put his foot down...

"...They're aware, but most don't understand being a single parent."

If they were married at all, they usually had their wives do all the child care. He didn't have that luxury, and also didn't want to go back to how he was before, now.

...Silver hair... this voice... those eyes...

[likely a knight here to slay the monster but could also be a hug wolf]

He was always a practical one... or perhaps, stubborn was a better way to put it. One could even say it was denial, but how he wanted to view the world was his choice despite evidence. As for his co-workers, she might have to encourage them to learn how to accept more responsibilities and not push small tasks onto their seniors. If they'd come sooner, he wouldn't be in this predicament.

"I see. So, they chose you as a 'sacrifice'..."

Because, whether he liked it or not, there was more to being a single parent in this town.
