[The last two weeks had passed awkwardly. Stiles had found a way to tether himself to his bed so he wouldn't crawl in with Derek. He seemed to be okay as long as he could hear the heartbeat. He didn't sleep as well as when he was curled up next to him, but after what had happened last time, Stiles wasn't taking any chances. He felt so bad about it, he hadn't actually spoken to Derek since it happened, just leaving the window open and a spot for him on the floor to sleep.
Part of the trick had involved pain, enough to wake him up when he started to try to crawl onto the floor, meaning that the last two weeks of Stiles' life were exhausted ones. He'd been noticeably more tired in school to the point where Scott had been pestering him to 'talk to him'. Not freaking likely. His dad had noticed it as well and had tried to get him to talk about it over dinner a few times, but Stiles had mumbled something about tests and finals coming up and that had been that. No, Stiles wasn't up for talking about this with anyone.
The day of them being able to go to Deaton's couldn't come soon enough, and he'd shown up at the vet's early and told to sit out in the waiting room until he was ready for them.
Which is where Derek would find him when he came in, leg jiggling as he sat in a chair, hand tapping at his thigh.]
