Within his small-but-ample quarters aboard the USS Enterprise, Spock sat rigidly in a chair. Seated across from him, the ship’s Captain, Jim Kirk, seemed all too ready for his First Officer to explain exactly why he’d been asked to this place.
For Spock, it was simple logic. The two of them had been monogamously engaging in intimate relations for quite some time. (He knew precisely how long, of course, but it went without saying.) To a Vulcan, there was little sense in continuing such practices outside of the bonds of marriage.
Of course, Spock had thought the scenario through carefully, examining it from all possible angles. He had calculated precise possibility percentages on all potential outcomes. The probability of a positive response from his partner seemed favorable.
“There is a reason I have asked you here, Jim,” Spock informed finally.
