In the five years that they were partners together, Street has heard that desperate note in Gamble's voice only two other times, and in both cases, any semblance of sobriety had been conveniently excluded. Even now, Jim's not sure if this is really Brian talking, or if his injuries and fatigue are simply getting the best of him and his mouth.
