( he stands in horror, chair clattering as it hits the ground behind him; more quiet is the softer thud of the cat's fall as well. he should get someone. he's forgotten how to move. he's afraid of leaving and coming back to it being too late and, god, he's never going to leave break to die alone, least of all when he's afraid.
