[ The strange woman called "Morgan" should be his enemy, in theory. It's why he's been summoned here, to fight a war for the sake of humanity, for the sake of ensuring that certain people live and others die. And normally, he doesn't question that. It's just the fall of the dice. The way things are. Even if he does or doesn't like it, it's not always his place to say how things ought to fall out. But sometimes the enemy you thought you had turned out to be someone you needed to ally with to fight someone else.

Another party, meddling for their own gain, had decided they were going to interrupt their battle and that was just irritating. Despite his strength, he had to retreat - but leaving someone behind to face the end by themselves didn't always sit right with him. Especially not a woman (call him old-fashioned). So whether she wants it or not, Lancer found himself bodily lifting Morgan and slinging her onto his back. If she wants to curse him for that, so be it. ]
