[Lounging by a pool? Sounds ideal. Lex, in a white bikini, lays on a chair close enough to the pool to get the sun, but not near enough to get splashed. Sun hat and glasses on, she’s just going to enjoy her downtime.]

Well, it was all worth it. It took some finesse, but Kaiji finally managed to sneak into the hotel pool after weeks of planning. It was sweltering hot and his joke of an apartment didn’t have AC - shit was getting desperate and his back was basically to the wall, okay?

With a sigh of relaxation, he popped down onto a poolside chair; his sunglasses slipped down the bridge of his nose. A kiddish grin on his mouth, he retrieved a can from his smuggled 6-pack of Asahi - what was a pool day without some beer? - from his blue nylon bag. It was busy enough today that he could get away with it in this far corner; staff were plenty busy - if they cared at all. He brought it all: beer, snacks, his shitty little handheld radio… Conditions were perfect, for once!

Luck was finally on his side! He poised to soak in the moment, a brief expression of glee on his face, before popping the beer can open with a perfectly-timed splash at the far end of the pool. Then - FINALLY - a well-deserved bottoms up!

When he brought the can down after his triumphant sip, however, he was met with… a goose? A goose. Directly across from him, on the other side of the pool. Their eyes were uncannily locked. He squinted. He blinked. He rubbed his eyes. It wasn’t there a minute ago. Why… why was it there now? Where did it come from?

… and why, why did shit like this always have to happen to him?

Almost as if mocking him, the goose lets out a loud "HONK" and continues its unblocked plodding towards the pool water. Those that wandered near the goose seemed to know something that Kaiji didn't, as they clearly came to a dead stop or abruptly about-faced and found another way to where they were going.

The goose comes to a stop at the water's edge, wagging its tail in...anticipation? Yes, it would enjoy these waters, regardless of the prey it sought being across the way. Let them sweat it out, know that their inevitable death was coming one way or another at the hands of a goose.

Letting out another honk, the goose slips into the water, tail still wagging as it circles around for a moment. Eyes...never leaving Kaiji's. He had to ask himself, ~~do you feel lucky, punk?~~ did the pool employ a guard goose?

That honk. There was something about that honk. Something distinctly aggressive. The hair on Kaiji's nape stood on end, but he couldn’t shake the confusion: a goose, though? Really? He had to be imagining things. Aren't those kind of everywhere? Maybe someone let it in by accident?

Out of sheer will, Kaiji broke eye-contact with the menacing little creature. He wasn't going to let a weird little bird ruin this - the one chance he had to get some pool time in-between the misery of his routine. He studied the hotel staff schedule for this. He planned, measured, waited. He wouldn't have a chance this good for another 3 weeks - if he hadn't already been boiled alive in his apartment by then. He stared into his beer can with every intent to take a sip, his jaw tense, but... couldn't quite do it.

He glanced up warily. It was still looking at him.

Kaiji put on a front of his own, maintaining eye-contact over his sunglasses while he took a glowering swig of his beer. This was his personal warning shot - if that little chicken nugget knew what was good for it, it'd stay in that pool and away from him. Or, preferably, it'd fuck off. He knew for a fact there was a grill around here, too. ... Just in case.

( she was slightly missing the point of being by the pool considering that she was very carefully sat on a lounger in the shade just watching her friend enjoy the water. but for adrienne that was the point, ororo was enjoying herself, she wasn’t going to burn and she was happy just spending time with her )
