[ Aki didn't know the extent of Angel's nightmares and dreams, but he knew how horrible they could be. For Aki, he relived moments in the past when those he cared about had died unnecessarily. In a way, his thoughts toward those deaths were very much like the people in Angel's dreams. He wanted to know why it happened, and what they had done to deserve it and wanted to make those that killed them suffer. Yet he didn't see Angel in that way. He never held Angel to the same standard he did the devils and monsters that killed his loved ones.

It wasn't his place to know, wasn't his place to care... But he did. He wanted to know the Devil that slumbered very much like the Angel they were in his arms right now. Couldn't help growing to care for them. He did all his partners. The fiend and hybrid that shared his home. Despite himself and how much he wanted to just hate every Devil- He cared.

Sleep came a little later for Aki, maybe because he was ever mindful not to brush a part of Angel that could harm him, or maybe because he wanted to make sure Angel was asleep before he let himself ease into dream himself? But eventually, he slipped away. Hugging into the small body beside him, warming it with his own.

Aki dreamt of his brother, of playing with snowballs and laughing with them. He dreamt of Himeno too. Of listening to her joke and teasing him as she stole a cigarette from him. And as he dreamed these images, he only hugged Angel tighter. It was the slight little jerks and twitching that pulled him from his sleep, and had him drawing his face back to look down at Angel. Lightly Aki cooed a soft sound, stroking that unruly red hair and pulling them closer, humming a soothing tone as his own eyes closed once more, trying to settle them for the rest of the night.

Hours pass like this. Where Angel shuffled and Aki soothed them. It wasn't until the first sound of birdsong started to chirp, through the darkness of the early hours of the morning that Aki managed to fully fall asleep himself. The air in the car was cooler after so many sunless hours and Aki's arm that was out was noticeably colder. A slight shiver trembled through him, a sigh of discomfort from his lips. ]
